Celine did not sing the Beijing 2008 Olympics theme song

I have just two (utterly selfish) words: Vancouver 2010.

 

That's been in the back of my mind since the bid selection in 2003. And I've been thinking, "would they ever ask a singer back to do the Olympics for the second time?" It seemed unlikely, but possible. A third time just seems totally out of the question.

 

Oh well. Of course I wish Celine the best of luck. Performing in Beijing would be huge.

(BEIJING, January 16) -- Celine Dion will dedicate a song to the Beijing Olympic Games during an April 14 concert in Beijing, as part of her Taking Chances World Tour 2008, it was revealed at a press conference here Wednesday morning.

 

Dion, who earned the admiration of Chinese fans with "My Heart Will Go On," moved audiences with her performance of "The Power of the Dream," at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.

In a video message to the Chinese public, Dion said that it was the power of the dream that enabled the Chinese people to realize their dream of the Olympics. And on April 14, during a concert at Beijing Worker's Stadium, she will perform a special song that she feels is the perfect fit for the Beijing Olympic slogan "One World One Dream."

 

Kan Ke, deputy director of BOCOG's cultural activities department, expressed hope that the Beijing Olympic Games could have a musical piece that would appeal to people all over the world.

 

During the press conference, former Chinese gymnast Sang Lan received the first ticket for the concert, with a special serial number of "20080808."

I already told you. There's no poll. It's all depends on the Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee. It would be a secret untill the opening ceremony. They won't tell which song would be the theme song. And there're tons of entries. SO don't get your hope too high. But it's cool she would sing a new song at the Beijing concert. I heard she would also sing another new song in Shanghai for Shanghai EXPO 2010.
