Celine may join to sing a possible Olympics theme song, entitled "In Harmony" in English and "Forever Friends" in Chinese. There're Chinese news mentioned Celine agreed to join to sing this song. But I can't find English news mention her name. I only find some English news about this song.

Olympics Theme-song Competition Draws 2 Heavyweights

 

A five-time Oscar-winner and a top Chinese pianist have written a song that will compete in a contest to become the theme song for the Beijing Olympics.

 

The song, entitled "In Harmony" in English and "Forever Friends" in Chinese, was created by Giorgio Moroder, an Italian composer based in Hollywood, and Chinese pianist Kong Xiangdong after three years' of work.

 

Moroder is known for his theme song writing talent. His works include "Reach out," for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and "Hand in Hand," for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He also wrote "The Summer of Italy" for the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy.

 

Kong, educated at the Shanghai Conservatory and the esteemed Curtis Institute in the United States, was hailed as the youngest prize-winner in both the 1996 Moscow International Competition and Spain's Santander International Competition in 1987. He was also the winner of the Grand Prize of the Gina Bachauer International Competition in 1998.

 

The song was the third time the pair has cooperated. They co-wrote the pop song "Love You for Ten Thousand Years" for Hong Kong star Andy Lau and "Harmonious Garden", the city song for Shenyang in China's northeastern Liaoning Province.

Making the Olympic more harmonious

 

AFTER two years of hard work and inspiration, composer Giorgio Moroder and his friend, Shanghainese pianist Kong Xiangdong, have completed the song "Forever Friends," their offering for the theme song of the 2008 Olympic Games.

 

Moroder, who composed the themes for the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games and the 1990 World Cup, will introduce the work at 7:30pm on Tuesday in a special Olympics program on CCTV.

 

Chinese singers Wang Feng and Sun Yue with Hong Kong artists Eason Chan and Yoey Yung will combine later to perform "Forever Friends" at the Beijing Olympics one-year countdown at Tian'anmen Square on Wednesday.

 

"You'll find typical Chinese elements in this song," said Kong who believes a successful Olympic song should be one that can be accepted and sung widely—like "Hand in Hand" the theme song of the 1988 Olympics.
