Elaine Posted January 19, 2008 at 10:43 PM Posted January 19, 2008 at 10:43 PM SO don't get your hope too high. But it's cool she would sing a new song at the Beijing concert. Well, this is something we should all do indeed, but for me it'll not work! It's just part of myself. I hold my expectations too high and then I get disappointed. I really pray that she's the chosen one, but I'd understand perfectly if they chose a chinese singer, after all it's their country! And it's really cool she's singing a new song... I'm curious to know how it'll sound now! Quote http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/1352/opo3.jpg

RLAAMJR. Posted January 20, 2008 at 05:38 AM Posted January 20, 2008 at 05:38 AM Hmmmm..... I would prefer a new song and not " A World To Believe In." But if there's none "A World To Believe In" is fine. Hmmmmm.... I think I would like a new song with a title "Just Believe", the title would sound strong right? In my own opinion though. Quote

The winning song will be revealed on 8 August (08) when the games begin in the Chinese capital. And, perhaps in a bid to sway judges, Dion is visiting China in April (08) for her first ever concert there. It won't be the first time the 39-year-old has provided the music of the games - her song The Power of the Dream was the theme of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. She didn't actually write the song, did she? Quote

Bellamy Posted March 20, 2008 at 04:51 PM Author Posted March 20, 2008 at 04:51 PM Song of love for sporting eventBy Chen Jie (China Daily)Updated: 2008-03-20 07:14 "If God had a singing voice, it would sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli," Celine Dion once said. Fitting then that the great Italian tenor has lent his vocal talents to a composition that may be chosen as the official song of the Beijing Olympics. Composed by Tan Dun and produced by 14-time Grammy Award winner David Forster, the song One World One Dream was submitted last week to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Featuring traditional Chinese instruments - the guzheng and erhu - and a world-music-style orchestration and chorus, the song showcases the universal love, friendship and warmth Chinese people bring to the world, Tan said. Bocelli is joined by rising Chinese star Zhang Liangying, with each of them singing in both Chinese and English. "For the past eight years, I have been seeking a voice to sing for the Beijing Olympic Games," Tan said. "The voice had to be both of China and of the world, be warm, full of love and able to last forever. "David and I planned to have Celine Dion and Bocelli sing the duet, but when he (David) heard Zhang's voice, he said she was the perfect match for Bocelli," he said. An internationally renowned composer, Tan's musical credits include winning an Oscar for the score for the hit movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Canadian producer Forster said in Beijing yesterday: "This is my first visit to China, but I can already tell why everybody loves this country. "I always knew my life would not be complete until I had discovered music in Asia and worked in Asia. Tan has given me a great opportunity to achieve that goal," he told China Daily. "I respect Tan. He is a genius, like Mozart or Beethoven. He is also one of the few people I know who works well on both classical and pop music," he said. "Tan has the vision, and I believe he knows how to make a piece of music belong to both China and to the world. "But I have never worked so hard: Tan kept changing things. The finished song is actually the 18th version," Forster said. The English lyrics were written by Amy Foster and Chinese lyrics by Tan Dun and Jane Huang Jingjie. "Stand next to me, I want to see you in this place. You are everywhere I look, as the light falls around your face. Stay and take my hand. How many moments do we get. All is right in this world of ours and time will go as time must go. Time will do what we both know." "I hope the song expresses the love between East and West, old and new, God and man, and men and women," Tan said, adding that his inspiration came from the scenes of people celebrating the end of World War II in 1945, in Times Square, New York. "Strangers were hugging and kissing each other," he said. "At the opening ceremony, I want there to be that kind of passion and love that we want to share with the people standing next to us, even strangers."http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2008-03...ent_6551381.htm"David and I planned to have Celine Dion and Bocelli sing the duet, but when he (David) heard Zhang's voice, he said she was the perfect match for Bocelli," he said. Why David? Why? I think the is one of the most anticipated submission for the Olympics theme song. Why not ask Celine sing it? They did wanted to invite Celine to sing it before. Is it because she already submitted another song? Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
Xpresso Posted March 20, 2008 at 06:21 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 06:21 PM Very strange that David Foster would go with someone other than Celine... Something's going on!! Quote
Bellamy Posted March 20, 2008 at 06:38 PM Author Posted March 20, 2008 at 06:38 PM BTW, Zhang Liangying(Jane Zhang)'s voice is no where as good as Celine's. And she's a lamb, she sounds more like a worse copy of young Mariah Carey, kinda like Leona Lewis, but more whistle notes like Mariah. I don't think her whistle voice would blend well with Andrea at all. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!

Your_Su_Phu Posted March 20, 2008 at 07:44 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 07:44 PM (edited) eww besides the whistle notes her voice sounds horrible o_o;;; that's what david thinks fits well with andrea? im seriouslyi getting over all the hype about whistle registers nowadays. whether it's christina or leona lewis or whatever, it's nice to hear as ornamentation but it gets annoying. at least mariah's whistle in her early career was astounding though it got annoying, but these new imitators don't even come close to that anyway Edited March 20, 2008 at 07:47 PM by Your_Su_Phu Quote
