For years and years I really disliked the song Because You Loved Me. I thought it was such a needy song about a drippy weak person. One day it finally clicked with me that the song didn't have to be a romantic love song. It could be about the love of anyone. A friend or a relative. And when I thought of it that way I liked the song a whole lot more.

 

As for Your Light, I still like that one and Celine is totally channelling Alanis Morrissette on that one! It's so '90s! Falling Into You is in my opinion her greatest album.

It flows very well and even the weaker songs fit the theme and feel of the album. The production is beautiful. It compliments Celine's voice so well and I love all the instrumentation.

 

Diane Warren wrote BYLM as a dedication to her father. So, your newfound interpretation was accurate.

Your Light, Dreamin' Of You, If That's What It Takes, Because You Loved Me, Make You Happy and to some extent Call The Man (the African chants) sound so much like the current sound of the mid 90s!

They have that big vintage drum sound, lots and lot of instrumentation and sort of shoop shoopy backing vocals but it's all produced in a way where Celine's voice is definitely up front and centre and not lost in his wall of sound. It's done in a sweeter way for her.

 

His way of producing allegedly had Celine's voice being lost in the music. Hard to believe anyone could do that with her voice, especially at that point in her career. Then I heard how he produced Tina Turner's original River Deep Mountain High. He had the vocal booth in the same room as all those musicians. And her singing at a key higher than she normally sang over the top of all the singers. It sounds like a torture session.

Even JJ said that the lyrics for Fly were even better than Vole (And i got that from memory, don't know where he said that )

This is my favorite album as a whole. I don't feel there are any fillers here. I think the English adaptions of her French songs are truly beautiful.

I thought the same when I was a kid, so I can understand. I "always" to listen to I Love You right after Dreamin' of You. They just go together.

I didn't say that Dreaming Of You and I Love You were fillers. I don't think there are any fillers on the album even the English versions of the French tracks are great in my opinion. All I said was that those songs were perhaps recorded in a way to do a modern (for the time) take on Spector's sound.

The FIY album is not a favourite of mine! I think Call The Man is incredible, but that is the only song on the album that I really love and consider among my ultimate favourites of Céline. I don't like All By Myself, Seduces Me, Makes Me Happy, or River Deep Mountain High. The others I like, but I don't think they're as good as some of her other songs 😧😲😳 (namely a number of those on Let's Talk About Love!). I never listen to the English versions of her French songs. It feels wrong to me, even though I know it's not. I would just always choose to listen to the original French version. Maybe if I didn't speak French I would feel differently, I don't know. To be fair, I do like some of the lyrics in If That's What It Takes, but still. And I'm not saying I don't think it's a good album, as I know that it absolutely is.

 

My favourite album is The Colour Of My Love.

I also love Because You Loved Me, I never tire of it.

So, BYLM and Call The Man - great - but the other songs on the album are not among my ultimate favourites. Dreamin' Of You, I Love You and Your Light - I listen to these quite a lot, but I think she has better songs, which I like more! And the others from the album, I never listen to!

This album have been a masterpiece, all the song are beautiful, the voice of Celine very light, angelique, beautiful and very calm. It's all Coming Back to Me Now illustrue this way, with a incredible music video, very elegant and at the same style of ''Bonnie Tyler'' Total Eclipse of the Heart. And also have my favorite song of the album, very good album, one of my favorites Celine dion.

 

And this album have a very good vague. In 1996, The Canadian dominates all in the World. This album and Jagued little Pig by Alanis Morissette has been two of the best selling of all time and the two biggest sales in 1996 all in the world. This album and the Alanis Morissette album maintain the top 10 US Charts for over a year, this is the first time to have two albums to maintain the top 10 over a year at the same time, the first to have this record the mainting the top 10 over a year has been Michael Jackson with the album Thriller.

But the original vinyl would be way more of satisfying ‘must have’ than a re-vinyl. But that’s my opinion.

I’m also on the look out for a more affordable FIY vinyl (first pressing)...

Love this album so so much! I remember me at 9 listening in repeat All by myself dreaming of having a voice as powerful and strong as Celine has to be able to sing it!

Now I listen in repeat mode 'falling into you' and 'seduces me'!

I also have a great memory of this album because of It's all coming back to me & fairytalesque music video!!!

I am over the moon about this! I have been waiting for a vinyl reissue of FIY for years because the original pressings are just so expensive and rare. Yay!
