celinesounds Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:22 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:22 AM I concur with Fred, "My Love" should never be released as a single. Let it be a (album track) gem. I'm still rooting for "I Got Nothin' Left" for a single release after the summer. I do like "I Got Nothin' Left" is a very good song but the lyric is so poor I'd prefer MY LOVE as a fall single #FREEJAVITO
rhaps Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:34 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:34 AM when i bought the album, i was really excited to hear "alone" but i was disappointed with the arrangements....but i dont know, that song song keeps on playing here in philippines and my friends and officemates tends to like it...huh...maybe it's easy to sing along with for non celine fans..i just hope it will pull back TC on the charts.
Prince Whiskers Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:52 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:52 AM I just think it's a crying shame that STUDIO singers like Mimi and Hagdonna are powering through the charts while an ACTUAL singer like Celine is being marginalized. Nowadays, I feel a little heartbroken whenever I listen to a few of Celine's new songs bec. brilliant as they are, they will probably never get the recognition that they deserve. Can you imagine how much attention Celine would have gained with the contagious vibe of FA, the Grammy-worthy theme of TT and her collaboration with Ne-Yo? Like fred said, releasing TT would involve a degree of risk but this song isn't just about domestic abuse. Ultimately, it's a celebration of self-empowerment, and my gosh an accompanying video directed by someone like Steven Soderbergh or Gullermo del Toro would shake up the industry and the public into realizing what we knew all along----that Celine's voice isn't just for ballads with sugary themes. As for FA, it's such a natural hit with its melody and everything that it's frustrating to see Sony regarding it as a random track. If a ballad is to be released, it should be IGNL over ML. Let's face it, ML is a lovely song but it's too unassuming, too down-to-earth to give Celine the mainstream attention that she needs. Mimi has her rappers and boobs, Madonna has Timbaland and Timberlake, so why not Celine with Ne-Yo on a song that sounds fresh and urban-ish without sacrificing our diva's image? Regarding TC, it's a great song feat. some of Celine's best vocals ever but it failed commercially bec. its melody with the up-and-down notes is too nuanced to be a pop hit these days and come on, it's structured like the 90's ballads. http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
amelie Posted April 3, 2008 at 10:30 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 10:30 AM (edited) ...meanwhile, i'm trying to figure out how the hell i'm ever going to write a single review for this song... i gotta be honest. oops....Be honest! There's no reason for sucking up for them and support their wacko ways. And people, I honestly don't see the brilliance in this cover. It is a nice song, well done, it is album fill out and could very well be single b-side material, that and nothing more, it steals way too much spotlight off of other tracks on the album in the public eye. If it would had been as great as the orginal, not even then should it be a single, it had to be either better or a new interpretion, nothing of this does this song stand for. I expected more of Moody. If releasing a track simply coz it got Moody's name attacthed to it This Time would be a much wiser track, but that would inlcude the "risk" it brought a new hit for Céline. And would people please think about what you're asking for when you plead for My Love to be a single... it would be as fatal as Goodbye's The Saddest Word. It is greatly produced, and I hope Perry does more production for Céline. The lyrics are banal, and the ballad itself is NOT taking chances. It is NOT single material, it would infact be even worse than Alone as single. Why can't you see that?! /fred I so agree about Alone but i don't agree about My love, especially the being a worse single choise. It is unique and though we're not talking about a chart topper it would do her good, unlike Alone Edited April 3, 2008 at 10:34 AM by amelie
Davey84 Posted April 3, 2008 at 10:57 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 10:57 AM Fred, you said the lyrics to My Love are banal... well DUH it's about Céline! You can love her so much, but you can't deny that things she says, how she might act are somewhat banal... you can't have over 300 love songs and not be... but I don't think that this would harm the song... it's all about how it's brought... promotion... good video etc And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanketBut I've got to get a move on with my lifeIts time to be a big girl nowAnd big girls don't cry There's nothing I wouldn't doTo have just one more chanceTo look into your eyesAnd see you looking back Ohh I'm sorry for blaming youFor everything I just couldn't doAnd I've hurt myself, ohh You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful, it's true. I saw your face in a crowded place, And I don't know what to do, 'Cause I'll never be with you Now aren't these lyrics like the most banal you've ever read??? Still they were big hits! And I think a lot of people could relate to: And I will stand tall to get byNo matter how hard I try to hideCould you see I've been braveDid you notice all my mistakesThere were times I could feel you read my mind Did you know I take the time for youDid you know that I would see you throughDid you know that I would play the partI know I made it clear right from the start  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Shaun Posted April 3, 2008 at 11:57 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 11:57 AM I cant believe some of you are honestly pushing for "My Love" to be a single. And you talk about "Alone" being the end for the album. LOL. "My Love", however great a song it is, is NOT single material. Remember how disgusted we all were when "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" was released as a single? The same thing here would happen if "My Love" was released. I.e. - the album would die immediately and let's face it it's already on its last legs. Sony need to FINALLY try something different with Celine. They've tried the ballads, they've tried the slightly different approach (Taking Chances), now they need to do something TOTALLY different. Try "Can't Fight The Feelin", do whatever they can to get Will.I.Am on board and try "Eyes On Me" and failing all of that yes get "Fade Away" out there. They are honestly giving the continuing impression they just have no idea what to do with Celine. Celine AJ Posted April 3, 2008 at 12:11 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 12:11 PM Will I Am on Eyes on Me would be great....something different....awards show opening material....it would be amazing....if only! There has been no news of the single here in Australia at all.... Radio play is also needed at a major part of promoting a song....from what I gather this does not happen very often...

amelie Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:34 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 01:34 PM (edited) i RLY can't see the connection between My love and Goodbye's but ok release This time 1st then My love and right next to the right one live from the tour and then i got nothing left. some ppl just don't get that audience likes Celine for her "ballads" and that's what she's best at. goodbye's is the cheesiest song ever, i always skipped it - nothing to do with my love or any song in this album, except a world to believe in maybe Edited April 3, 2008 at 01:38 PM by amelie
Xpresso Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:10 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:10 PM Alone enters the Canadian AC charts at #39 this week!! Not bad... Still not released in the US I believe... Taking Chances goes down from #6 to #7 on the same Canadian AC Chart. Source : Radio & Records
fred Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:56 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 02:56 PM (edited) Audience love Céline for her ballads simply because that is what is shown from her.And you can't deny That's The Way It Is and Unison being hits, and are they ballads?! I sincerely hope that now that they will ride on Alone as single now, that Eyes On Me will be released as summer single. I said it all along Eyes On Me is a summer track. But at the pace they are working at Alone serves as the summer single and the next single (if any) will prob be released by november, a last spasm before the album is lost forever... /fred Edited April 3, 2008 at 02:57 PM by fred Peace and love to all.

However the lame way SOL is performed on the tour makes me doubt... Well all those songs you mentioned are very good songs, but that doesn't make them good single material, there is a great difference there. For example Surprise Surprise is one of the best tracks on the album, so is RNTTRO and New Dawn, but I still doubt any of them making good singles, however I have not yet made up my mind about Surprise Surprise... /fred Peace and love to all.

Tan Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:38 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 08:38 PM I wouldn't put any ballads as singles. To promote Celine's new sound I would put Shadow of love followed by Eyes on me with Will.I.Am or vice-versa (Though Shadow of love sounds more like a summer song to me) then Fade Away. No matter the order I prefer singles: - Shadow of love-Fade Away-Eyes on me
john Posted April 3, 2008 at 09:58 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 09:58 PM (edited) believe that Sony goes to liberate EYES ON ME when the Celine will be in the United States in Tour, I do not like to have ALONE as second single, more we cannot make nothing, I find that they must be confused and they are not knowing to choose singles certain. SuperLove4Celine Posted April 4, 2008 at 04:38 AM Posted April 4, 2008 at 04:38 AM and as for the chump that suggested here that i ask celine tougher questions about her career choices... you know, in the past when i've tried to "go there" with celine, it's always more than apparent that she is deliberately distanced from that side. you read her quote about "i record and my job is done. it's up to the label to get the numbers"... right? so asking celine about single choices and chart momentum... it's just not her game... and that, i believe, is one reason why she still is able to get any enjoyment out of this 25 years later... because she hasn't been beaten down by the business like a whitney... thank god for rene for taking care of all of that. truly, anyone here who is riding him for celine's challenges needs to understand that none of us would be gathered here writing 5000 words a minute if it weren't for the man. ok, enough yammering from me... hugs & xxx, celine cats,=chuck= First of all I don't appreciate the name-calling. If you don't agree with me that's fine, it wouldn't be the first time someone hasn't agreed with me in one of my opinions. I was simply stating my opinion as a consumer and as someone who is a customer of Billboard Magazine. Wanting the interviewer, you, to ask harder questions is something that I would like to see. Secondly, single choices may not be Celine's "game," as you put it, but we, the fans, are the ones who have been supporting her through the years. It isn't asking too much to have her opinion on why certain singles are choosen over others when certain tracks are unanimously liked more than another by the fans. Also, it's her job to sing the songs that the fans want to hear. She may possibly be tired of songs such as "My Heart Will Go On," but it is a song of hers that the public and her fanbase want and are continuing to demand. How is this any different than a new song that her fans are demanding be heard? It's MY opinion that she should be a little more involved in the single "game." If not she may start edging closer to alienating her fans. Third, I wasn't putting Rene down. I know what an amazing job he has done for Celine's career, what a loving husband he is to her, and what a great father he is to Rene-Charles. However, what I was stating is that once a person starts trying to wear x-amount of hats eventually the stack will begin to sway and one or more hats will start coming down. This is where I believe his job as a manager is starting to suffer. Let someone else come in with a fresh view on the music industry, someone who has the time to put things together, someone who isn't having to keep his love-life and fatherhood in balance with that of his managerial responsibilities. Again, I'm not knocking Rene at all. He's done far more than I would ever expect a manager, or a human for that matter, to do for another (ie. mortgaging his house for Celine's first album). And lastly, I do appreciate the information you give us about your interviews regarding Celine, Chuck. You do much more than what I'm sure your job description states at Billboard. I was simply giving some honest constructive-critisism. Take care,Joe
Prince Whiskers Posted April 4, 2008 at 10:15 AM Posted April 4, 2008 at 10:15 AM If Rene steps down as her manager, I wonder who could be a good candidate. Not Sam Lufti absolutely. http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
