Thanks Chuck for the scan.

"Album version" :glare: as if there is any other version.

/fred

"Edit version".... *runs*

 I don't know why they don't release alone (edit) and eyes on me (feat will.i.am). There where made on studio, celine sung in playback so if they are not going to release them what are they doing with those songs :pinch:

I've read numerous posts on this site about the fact that Universal wouldn't give approval for will.i.am to a part of the Eyes On Me single. They don't want it to be released as a single. The special was fine, but no single. Eyes On Me with will.i.am will not happen. We've all got to let this go. :D

I wonder who was the sales guy that Chuck talked about in another thread. You know, the guy who pushed the Billboard cover story. He deserves a big role in Celine's team. :D

So will the song hurry up and go for adds Stateside.......hopefully she'll do better there with ALone then with Europe. It PEAKED at 72 in France and after four weeks ........its OUT.....but, we all told ya! (Sony that is)

Maybe this will get some people to listen to Celine. My sister didn't like Celine and I tried forever to get her to like it and she listened to Alone and now she likes Celine. I do think that it is a great song though. I would have prefered Eyes On Me to be a single. Does Sony ask what Celine wants to be the next single or do they just chose?
Posted (edited)

Sony surely have their (so colled) marketing specialists. market researchers or whatever they are called who make researches and decisions of what is the most appropriate to be a single or not.

That's what I think at least as I'm certainly sure it works this way in other record labels

Personally I've been helping choosing singles for a Polish artist who records for a different label tho'. They got some people responsible for single choices but in the case of that particular artist they fortunately also asked fans - they organized a meeting with a few fans recommended by the official fanclub (I've been on of those fans), played 3 single choices for us and let us vote. And indeed they released the single that we have chosen.

Dreams, dreams, dreams...

I doubt they would ever do something like this for Céline though....

ONLY AC radio....not even "HOT" AC? :nono: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Ok, maybe POP wouldn't play it very much, only if it really catches on and I mean REALLY catches fire on AC......

As soon as this song breaks stateside she should hit a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest or somthing......this song was produced by Kelly Clarksons producers and as much as there is bitching about it's release, MANY of my celine hater friends, like this track.

joe -- i'm not being serious with the term "chump." take it as a term of endearment. we're all entitled to all opinions. no harm meant, man!

and as for the chump that suggested here that i ask celine tougher questions about her career choices... you know, in the past when i've tried to "go there" with celine, it's always more than apparent that she is deliberately distanced from that side. you read her quote about "i record and my job is done. it's up to the label to get the numbers"... right? so asking celine about single choices and chart momentum... it's just not her game...

and that, i believe, is one reason why she still is able to get any enjoyment out of this 25 years later... because she hasn't been beaten down by the business like a whitney... thank god for rene for taking care of all of that. truly, anyone here who is riding him for celine's challenges needs to understand that none of us would be gathered here writing 5000 words a minute if it weren't for the man.

ok, enough yammering from me...

hugs & xxx, celine cats,

=chuck=

First of all I don't appreciate the name-calling. If you don't agree with me that's fine, it wouldn't be the first time someone hasn't agreed with me in one of my opinions. I was simply stating my opinion as a consumer and as someone who is a customer of Billboard Magazine. Wanting the interviewer, you, to ask harder questions is something that I would like to see.

Secondly, single choices may not be Celine's "game," as you put it, but we, the fans, are the ones who have been supporting her through the years. It isn't asking too much to have her opinion on why certain singles are choosen over others when certain tracks are unanimously liked more than another by the fans. Also, it's her job to sing the songs that the fans want to hear. She may possibly be tired of songs such as "My Heart Will Go On," but it is a song of hers that the public and her fanbase want and are continuing to demand. How is this any different than a new song that her fans are demanding be heard? It's MY opinion that she should be a little more involved in the single "game." If not she may start edging closer to alienating her fans.

Third, I wasn't putting Rene down. I know what an amazing job he has done for Celine's career, what a loving husband he is to her, and what a great father he is to Rene-Charles. However, what I was stating is that once a person starts trying to wear x-amount of hats eventually the stack will begin to sway and one or more hats will start coming down. This is where I believe his job as a manager is starting to suffer. Let someone else come in with a fresh view on the music industry, someone who has the time to put things together, someone who isn't having to keep his love-life and fatherhood in balance with that of his managerial responsibilities. Again, I'm not knocking Rene at all. He's done far more than I would ever expect a manager, or a human for that matter, to do for another (ie. mortgaging his house for Celine's first album).

And lastly, I do appreciate the information you give us about your interviews regarding Celine, Chuck. You do much more than what I'm sure your job description states at Billboard. I was simply giving some honest constructive-critisism.

Take care,

Joe

If only the video for this single (if it needed to be a live video) would had been an actual live performance from the tour. Look at the performance of Alone in Melbourne. It brings a new feeling to it, and is better than the album version. And if this would had been the official video the nonfans would see she can sing amazing live instead of debating over if the video's performance is live or lipped or dubbed over as they actually do about the official video...

You can check out the wonderful Melbourne performance here.

Peace and love to all.

I see what you mean. But shouldn't the video be the same version of the song that is played on radio? Because the live version wouldn't be what people actually get on the Taking Chances CD...

I prefer the video we have now... (and the performance should be dubbed anyway imo). It shouldn't be a "live" video at all in the 1st place

Not unless they decided to release the LIVE version to radio?

You still didn't get it yet, guys?

The reason why "Touch My Body" and "4 Minutes To Save The World" rise to the top of the charts is simply because they are tasteless and silly -- Exactly how most listeners and consumers are nowadays.

One can't impose quality music on buyers who are trapped in passive consumerism.

Celine's music is too refined for the general public. Gone are the days when romance used to be one's fuel in life; therefore, romantic songs sink into oblivion.

It is not Sony's fault, nor is it Celine's or her fans'. It is the state of the world we live in, now.

well celines second single off the "taking Chances" cd fails to deliver

1)its another cover...of a classic 80's rock ballad...and the original was so good...did we need a cover of it?

2) it fails to take chances ...its not different enough...so its a tired cover...

both mariah and madonna have released new songs....with proper videos whether these songs will be considered classics ....mmmm i dont think so but they are enjoyable harmless pop songs..that their respective fans have embraced and more importantly purchased..

Celines new sound isnt appealing enough to radio or to the other 20 million people who purchased her cds in the past...and as the best selling female singer in the world she should be holding out for better songs and better promotional support from her record company..she deserves no less than that!!

i love celines voice so i always thrill to hear her but get her better material to work with....release cant fight the feeling...at least there is some life in it!!!

love doesn't ask why

speaks from the heart and never explains

dont you know that love doesn't think twice

it can come all at once or whisper from a distance

Thank you for this update, Chuck! :)

I like the fact Céline is in the same "pot" with Nelly Furtado and Leona Lewis (which I like both VERY much).

Fingers crossed for "Alone" to do well in US, even if most of us almost gave up our hope on it already...

EDIT: Does the list for most added include "old" songs, too?? I mean I saw Josh Groban's "Awake" and isn't that the title track to his 2006 cd ?? :hmm: Edited by dj4celine

the two stations playing celine's "alone: are:

WLHT, Grand Rapids

KWAV, Monterey/Salinas

though again, the official add date is monday 4/14.

yes, "awake" IS the name of josh groban's previous studio CD, but he has a live CD/DVD coming out, featuring that song again, which has now been released to AC radio. the original studio version of the song was only available as a bonus track on the special edition of the disc.
