Davey84 Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:09 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:09 PM well of course... but I think that Vito leaving sony has much to do with it! Maybe Céline's management is too focussed on her tour right now:( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
Ronny83 Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:17 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:17 PM well of course... but I think that Vito leaving sony has much to do with it! Maybe Céline's management is too focussed on her tour right now:(No, Vito (ex-Sony BMG Canada) has nothing to do with the USA slow release of a new single, as also John Doelp (Columbia Records USA), is an Executive Producer of "Taking Chances". I believe the reason is Columbia think they've reached their goal (i.e. 3.1 million copies shipped worldwide), and they simply don't care about the album anymore. That's business. Kyle_Jared Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:18 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:18 PM (edited) Is this ANY real Surprise though? I mean seriously! Its one of the only two songs from the damn album shes sung since October/November! THEY"RE BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL ON THIS ONE!!!!! Personally, Alone is a great track...but should of been released THREE MONTHS AGO. I can forsee it now....."Alone" will be sent to "Adult Contemporary"stations ONLY in April......peak at around #12 or #13 and in September we'll get the original version of "Eyes on Me". Ronny83 Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:20 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:20 PM Personally, Alone is a great track...but, Yes BACK in JANUARY. I can forsee it now.....will be sent to "Adult Contemporary"stations ONLY in April......peak at around #12 or #13 and in September we'll get the original version of "Eyes on Me". Yes, that's exactly how things will go. The Celine Dion Italian fanbase - CelineDionItalia.com
Xpresso Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:24 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:24 PM We should write a nasty song and send it to Sony... The working title: Eyes on CÉLIIIIINE you Morons!!!!!
Céline's Blues Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:25 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:25 PM You are all HATERS! I bet alone will be a huge hit! http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Shaun Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:33 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:33 PM Well it's better late than never. It was beginning to look like there wouldn't be a 2nd single at all in the USA and frankly I would take "Alone" over nothing at all. It's hilarious though looking back to all the marketing blurb surrounding "Taking Chances" album prior to release. Sony made a huge point, as did Celine, of saying she was trying new sounds and going in a new direction and yet when "Taking Chances" the single didnt work it takes them 6 months to decide what to do next and when they do they have chosen the most "old style" Celine song on the album!!! Taking Chances? Don't make me laugh. Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
Nikosn17 Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:36 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:36 PM Are they crazy or something... they ruined the whole album. It would have had more success if Sony has done everything right.
Lymon Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:37 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:37 PM Sony is taking as many chances with Celine as Miley Cyrus and the rest of Disney Channel has taken vocal lessons http://i51.tinypic.com/2uf4r5f.png
Kyle_Jared Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:44 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 10:44 PM (edited) meanwhile all the other divas are pushing ahead: http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/articl...t_id=1003781835 Alone wont even hit the top 50 in the US. Guaranteed. However, I encourage you to prove me wrong, Columbia Records.... Edited March 28, 2008 at 10:44 PM by Kyle_Jared
Shaun Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:00 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:00 PM (edited) Sony, and Celine, have had their chances since her return to release "cool" and chartable singles but opportunities have been missed or inexplicable decisions made. It's no surprise to see all the other "divas" having chart success with their singles. They (or their record companies) choose relevant singles and not random album tracks. Sony have had chance after chance to keep Celine relevant. Why wasn't "Sorry For Love" or "When The Wrong One Loves You Right" chosen as the follow up to "I'm Alive"? Instead we got "Goodbye's The Saddest Word", a flop all over the world. The Destiny's Child version of WTROLYR was screaming to be released. Why then wasn't "Reveal" released as the follow up to "I Drove All Night"? Instead we got "Have You Ever Been In Love", a flop all over the world. Let's not even talk about "Miracle", absolutely embarrassing in terms of trying to remain relevant. If they insisted on promoting Live In Vegas why weren't "You and I" and "Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way" serviced to radio? And now, here we are again. Celine has BUCKETLOADS of modern fresh relevant singles on "Taking Chances" that could be released. Where is the already recorded Will.I.Am version of "Eyes On Me", or how abot sending "I Got Nothing Left" to radio and playing off the fact NeYo was involved? Of how about TAKING A CHANCE and releasing "Just Fade Away" or "Can't Fight The Feeling" to radio and actively suporting them? Instead we get "Alone", same old Celine!!!! Fabulous another Top 75 smash!! The reason, the REAL reason, is that no-one, not Sony, not Celine, not Rene actually gives a damn anymore and moreover no-one actually wants Celine to change. They are all content releasing ballad after ballad. They are content feeding from "My Heart Will Go On" 10 years after its release date and they are happy including "Love Can Move Mountains" on tour 16 years after it was just an album track! Nobody wants Celine to take a chance, that's the problem!! celinekat Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:10 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:10 PM i dont know if anyone noticed but the singles usually go by where they are on the cd.TC was track one. Alone is track two.this isnt the first time her singles came out like that
Kyle_Jared Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:15 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:15 PM (edited) Shaun, I could not have agreed with you more. They simply do not care. They missed the boat once again. And will again and again and again unless Celine changes record companies and their drive/focus to release the 'right' stuff at the right time. . Celine has hit her "Barbara Streisand" wall at this point. That meaing, Barbara no longer has hit singles.....she releases albums, they go platinum, she has her "name'' as a legend and people pay big bucks to see her. Mind you, Barbara has had a much lengthier and more extensive career then Celine. Celine will do this tour, and from here on in I guarantee you will never see another top 40 hit again. It's over. OVER. Celine is viewed is a 'legend' by the likes "Rhianna' and many others. Problem is, Celine could pull a madonna or mariah anyday and be #1 cause she's phenominal. I'm DONE with worrying about single choices and charts. 1997=Celine Dion HITS 2008=Celine Dion legend. And that's that. Edited March 28, 2008 at 11:16 PM by Kyle_Jared
CelineAndRene Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:27 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:27 PM who cares.. apparently radio don't even play her anymore... i never hear nothing... such crap.. and yet they play Disney stars who don't even deserve to have a record deal.. A shame.. "...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.

mebe Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:36 PM Posted March 28, 2008 at 11:36 PM Can we bombard Sony US with e-mails (and maybe with other things!! ) to let them know how pissed we are??? Anyone has any e-mail addresses? It won't change anything but at least they will get our opinion since they didn't bother with our poll about Fade Away being our favorite choice as 2nd single...Columbia Records USA won't care about fans. John Doelp, Senior VP of A&R at Columbia, didn't even want to listen to Chuck Taylor at the Final Night in Vegas, back in December, as our friend Chuck reported. We have absolutely no power in decisions like these. The only power we have is to choose to not support Columbia and Céline's team choices: Céline's fanbase is surely the main source of money for them. To the ones who think "Alone" would be a hit on AC radio stations, look how miserably it is doing on Canadian AC radio stations, and how miserably flopped on European radio stations. It's a bit early to say that Alone didnt do well in Canada, cause even in Quebec, the song just started to play on the radios. I'm sure it's gonna have a decent success at least here in Quebec. Tonight on the biggest radio station here in Montreal, the song won the "battle of the new songs" against another very popular artist in Quebec. And according to the dj, she easily won.

stevo Posted March 29, 2008 at 01:33 AM Posted March 29, 2008 at 01:33 AM But it's no good just saying the single is released, it has to be promoted- like EOM in the UK? Who the hell knew it was released? It was played now and again on one radio station- what good is that? She has never had so much publicity in the UK for a long time but they should have had a plan and carried it through from November on- like new single starting heavy in January- not just giving it to Radio 2. Now we have to live through Mariah and Whitney and Madonna and see how many videos and singles they get released. Yes, Celine isn't 'cool' like they are, but Jesus, release a song off the back of another one and make a video for God's sake. As Shaun said, it's embarrassing now, the whole Taking Chances thing- of all the songs, and Alone is probably my most listened to, it shouldn't have been a single. FA, SOL...EOM Will.I.Am...just makes me mad cos they could have made it so big.
