well Céline gave a lot of money to that place she visited in SA in feb 2008 and Madonna has taken one in, so it's a start!

 

 

but seriously of course they could support Africa, but they can't support the whole world! The do enough charity (well at least Céline, I dunno about Madge) as it is IMO!

 

Madonna does a lot of charity. She's funding the building of an all-girls school right now, and she makes trips back to Malawi to help out the situation. She also gave a pretty generous donation to the Haiti cause. So I think they both do their part pretty well.

 

And Madonna took in TWO.

She's not working on one currently. She's directing a movie called W.E., and we shouldn't expect an album until early 2011 at the earliest. I think it sucks that she's waiting, as the movie sounds horrible and she should just do another album.

Not true at all. That's such a mean, pathetic comment to make about somebody. How dare you insult somebody's charity work. She doesn't have to have cameras around, most people who do charity work get some sort of publicity for it (hell, Celine even put her Africa visit on a DVD). It's not a bad thing, and it's CERTAINLY not the reason she does it (trust me, Madonna does not need publicity, she gets enough on her own). So for you to come for her and say she only does it for publicity, when you have zero proof other than your hateful bias, is silly. Do you have any common sense at all?

Thank you! I'm not even saying it's a bad thing to have publicity for your charity. Actually, it's good on some levels. Getting it in the public will encourage people to also donate and give back to their community/the world. But to say that somebody does it ONLY for publicity, when they have no proof other then their own hateful bias, is ridiculous.

anyways back on topic, its Celine who has always been acknowledged as being the world's best selling female, not Madonna, people always forget that Celine has 2 careers, one on french and one in english.

Okay, I can see that this thread is getting a little heated. We all need to calm down. That said, the Guiness Book of World Records is correct; Madonna is the best-selling female artist in the world. There's no denying that. She's sold more singles than Celine (something like 60 million total), and has sold around 20-25 million more albums than Celine. However, Celine is extremely close to Madonna's overall total which is why it's so difficult to completely know the exact figures. I think the fact that Celine is the best-selling artist of the last two decades is a testemant to her popularity and influence as a singer. She's a legend in the music world, and that's all that counts with me. Also, the fact that she caters to two different languages and cultures is much more important than overall records sold, IMO.

I watched the last tour on dvd this weekend, and the setlist is very interesting; lots of different songs etc...

 

but the show itself... there are some cool parts, but all those video intermezzo's and dances... I'm glad I didn't pay 180 euros for this concert! I go to a concert for the songs; the vocals, the rest is a nice addition, but IMO Madonna's concert had a bit too much of that...

 

btw how much does she lip during this concert? I mean; she sings soft and such, but then she yells something to the audience and that's so hoarse and dry, I can't put those two together

and even when she sings live, it doesnt sound wonderfull

I like Madonna and was a big fan of hers in the 80's... Great performer yes ... Vocalist/Singer Madonna is not Celine doesn't necessarly always have to be #1 to everyone she will alway be my #1! 1. Anything i've said about Celine on another forum is nothing I haven't, or wouldn't say here. If anything i've just called her out for lipsyncing or saying I find her English music very dull now (which is my opinion and an opinion shared by some).

 

2. I appreciate you stalking me to the other forums I go to. It's really cute and I find it adorable that you'll take time out of your day to go read my posts on those other forums.

 

But anyway, we're filling this thread with too much fight and I don't want the moderators to get mad. So if you have anything else you desperately need to say to me on this subject, please feel free to PM me. Okay really this is silly! In one way Madonna is, and in another way Celine is. There is no definate number one either way you look at it. Even if Madonna is number 1 seller it doesn't even matter because she isn't Celine, and she doesn't have a voice like Celine's and thats what matters HERE. Celine is the number one selling female VOCALIST either way, Madonna can have number one female entertainer since what she claims is more than what Celine has sold.
