ALBUMS SUCH AND FALLING INTO YOU AND LETS TALK ABOUT LOVE HAVENT BEEN CHECKED IN YEARSSSS.

 

 

CELINE HAS PASSED THE 220 MILLION MARK AND HAS WELL OVER 50 MILLION IN SINGLE SALES. OVER 370 MILLION TOTAL IN SALES

HOW COULD MADONNA 200 MILLION TOTAL BEAT CELINE'S 370 MILLION.

SOUNDSCAN ALSO SAID THAT CELINE IS THE BEST SELLING ARTIST SINCE THEY STARTED .

If they are talking American Sales only, Barbra Streisand has sold more cd sales than Madonna. And I have been hearing the sales for Celines albums from the 90's til ANDHC always at the same mark, for 5 years, so no doubt they've gone up some but who knows how much. [ie for 5 years it's always been 32 FIY, 31 LTAL, etc etc]

Theres a dude who does actual chart sales and updates each week, and he has each total from each country added up for Celine hard copies, if I remember right, and I believe he has actual figures, not shipments at 32 and 31, anyway doesnt matter so much, where do you get your sales figures for Celine and Madonna?

Madonna is kinda like Kylie, although I prefer Kylie, and obviously Celine above them both. But they constantly reinvent their style, and change with the times which is why they are, and in Madonna's case, more popular especially with younger fans, and the younger generations.Celine has stuck mostly to what she is good at and long may she do just that. Not that Celine has never changed it's just Kylie and Madonna change so much.

 

I remember reading this on Wikipedia. So what if she has sold, more, nothing to cry too much about.

Here's the thing though, can Kylie and Madonna actually sing? When it comes right down to it, they aren't actually singing properly, well not the way and ways that Celine does. I mean I'm not saying that they can't sing just becasue they don't sing exactly like Celine. I actually like Kylie and Madonna and have a few of their albums.Their album sales are based on the music and their performance of the song and their style of singing...the performance being all the show stuff, i.e the dancers, the lights the snazzy effects.

Celine's albums are based on her voice, the emotion and every heartbeat that you feel from listening to her songs.

We all know she is number one to us and for all the right reasons and we don't need some "official" book of records to tell us that.

If Madonna ships 10 million copies of an album , but only sell 1 million.... then they consider that 10 million sold.

Actual sales are never counted and remain unknown .

Making her sales seem superior.

 

Celine has certified sales by soundscan .

Celine is the best selling female artist of the Soundscan era and Madonna isn't in the top spot.

MAdonna ranks #30 or lower on the list.

Soundscan counts actual sales and not shipments.

LOOOOOOOL @ me being a madonna fan! i am a casual fan but i wouldn't buy any of her albums ever!!! Whereas i have`about 125 celine albums/singles/dvds. i think this explains that i am a Celine fanatic, not just fan.

 

But facts are facts and Celine is nowhere 220 million in album sales. And another fact, Madonna has sold about 285 million records compared to Celine's 225 million (with singles and dvds; 255 if u include titanic ost).

 

And guinness are full of s*** because Babs is still number 1 in the US, by far.

 

And to show you how much you know, Mariah is 1.5 million ahead of Celine in the US soundscan sales. So now you will accuse me of being a Mariah fan? But celine is way ahead in worldwide sales during the soundscan era. Go check real figures please from riaa, soundscan, and certifications from around the world. Thank you

 

Thing is, celine is the best selling artist , male or female, of the last 20 years. But madge benefited from massive 80s sales, which celine didn't since her releases back then were only in canada, and few other french countries

Patrick, you really believe that MJD can have almost accurate sales data? I doubt that cos I always found his numbers to be a bit inflationary when it came to the sales of MJ. Also, his methodology of accumulating sales and shipments of artists other than MJ made me question some of his data. The fights at ukmix over his alleged accurate sales are a big testament to that.

Actually, music sales reached its peak sales in the late 80s and 90s decade, which is why Madonna and the other divas (Whitney, Mariah and Celine) could even get the large sales. Before that, it wasn't that huge. Also, the major deterrent is the tracking system. There is no unified system to track actual sales. IMO the only true huge seller (when it comes to catalog sales are the rock artists, Metallica leading the way). But I'm not sure so just take it with a grain of salt.

Hmmm, the first part of what you said is confusing to my fragile little mind! xD

 

I think that Celine and Madonna are probably the most wealthy woman in the music industry with Cher coming in close and I think they do alot for the misfortunate, but they could do more. I don't fault them for not though, beings I personally am able to help even if its a little, and I don't [shh dont tell anyone]

About supporting Africa, idk, haha, but I'm sure they could do some good damage!
