Nikosn17 Posted April 10, 2008 at 01:59 PM Posted April 10, 2008 at 01:59 PM They said the Japan release is on April 16. That's weird. By the way I like the cover of Bye Bye better than the Touch My Body one. Quote

Jeffieboi Posted April 11, 2008 at 03:11 AM Posted April 11, 2008 at 03:11 AM I hate Mariah as a person, and I don't like complimenting her...but I heard this song on the radio today (it was the first time I ever heard it), and I REALLY liked this song. I'm gonna put it on my new mix. Quote

Céline's Blues Posted April 12, 2008 at 11:25 AM Posted April 12, 2008 at 11:25 AM The truth of the matter is Mariah found a formula which she uses now to produce hit after hit. Nobody can blame her for her hit-focused thinking. Absolutely nobody. Most Céline's fans would kill for Céline having at least 10% of Mariah's attitude and determination towards charts and hits. That being said her album is as mediocre as it can get with "For The record" being the only appealing track. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
Ray Posted April 12, 2008 at 03:05 PM Posted April 12, 2008 at 03:05 PM And as Ray's given his reviews for each and every song, I'll give mine too later tonight. All I can say is that the more I listen to it, the more I like it I'm looking forward to your track by track review. I haven't stopped playing the album since Sunday. And there is NO song I skip. LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't done that since "Rainbow". Quote Céline Dion Mariah Carey Madonna Lara Fabian Debbie Gibson Wilson Phillips Linda Eder Tina Arena Martika
Black Kitten Posted April 13, 2008 at 07:33 AM Posted April 13, 2008 at 07:33 AM really love Bye Bye. can't wait for the album! 2 days to go! give mariah's E=MC2 2-3 weeks and it will easilly outsell TC in the US. mariah really knows how to be successful and what today's music demands. "in", fashionable, futuristic-yet-classic, new sound without fully abandoning the standards= SUCCESS Quote

Nikosn17 Posted April 13, 2008 at 11:51 AM Posted April 13, 2008 at 11:51 AM thanks nikos for the updates! with a #1 single, heavy promotion and tv appearances, mariah will be tied with madonna and janet for having 6 (Mariah Carey, Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi) #1 albums on the Billboard 200! another achievement for mimi! I think she is doing a lot less promotion now than during the TEOM era. I hope this will be enough for her + American Idol and Oprah are huuuuge shows but... I don't know. I feel like it's not enough. Thank God she is doing ''Good Morning America'' and ''David Letterman'' the week after the release. Quote
Black Kitten Posted April 13, 2008 at 11:58 AM Posted April 13, 2008 at 11:58 AM i guess mariah didn't need a heavy promotion now. TMB became her 18th #1 single in america, mostly positive reviews from music critics for E=MC2 and no huge competition this week for new releases, these are reason enough to take the #1 spot next week. no doubt that mariah will top the billboard 200. Quote
Nikosn17 Posted April 13, 2008 at 12:02 PM Posted April 13, 2008 at 12:02 PM I'm wondering if she'll sell more copies in the first week than TEOM. Quote
Black Kitten Posted April 13, 2008 at 12:08 PM Posted April 13, 2008 at 12:08 PM i'm pretty sure of that. TEOM was released during the peak of It's Like That (which peaked at #20-something) but the album still managed to reach the top spot. this is her first lead single to top the top 100 in america since Rainbow's Heartbreaker. i don't know, i have no doubt that this album will sell like crazy worldwide this year. dj4celine Posted April 13, 2008 at 03:19 PM Posted April 13, 2008 at 03:19 PM As promised, here's my review after almost a week and a half of listening to the album. It doesn't reflect to anyone else's likings. These are just my own reviews and how I feel about each track in the album. Migrate: First listen, didn't like it. Second spin, good. Third and more spins, superbly catchy track and I play this track every single day now 4/5 Touch My Body : Wasn't very into it when it came out. Then learnt to like it in the weeks following its release. But now I skip it cos I just don't find it too appealing anymore. 3/5 Cruise Control : One of the songs which I was looking forward to. But all I can say now is that the Reggae tinge in this song is definitely not for Mariah. Not even Damien Marley could save this track. Hate this track to the extreme. 1/5 I Stay In Love : One of my fav ballads from the album. Somehow this track sort of reminds me of WBT except the fact that WBT has far better vocals. 4.5/5 Side Effects : A so-so track. Its an album filler. Not very much interested into it but not as bad as Cruise Control either. 2/5 I'm That Chick : Ewwwww...the intro is excruciating. Middle of the song, the tempo goes up and this can be a good club song with some good remixes. Another album filler IMO. 1/5 Love Story : What is she singing during the intro?? And I just hate JD trying to get his "awesome" vocals into each and ever track he produces By the middle, the song goes into a full bloom and it's a beauty minus JD's voice. Not the best but good than most others in the album. 3.5/5 I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time: Nice uptempo track. Would love to hear some jam remixes for this one. Another album filler IMO though. 2.5/5 Last Kiss: Somebody please shut that JD up I listened closely to the lyrics and realised that she was missing the person. but somehow her singing didn't seem to evoke that feeling like she had in "Mine Again" or even the stellar "My All". 3/5 Thanx 4 Nothin': OK... that JD is surely annoying the hell out of me now I kinda found this song ironic after listening to Last Kiss. I mean in that track she's talking about her love and here, she's blaming herself for loving that person But when listened to separately, a good get over it track. Low ratings just cos of JD. 2.5/5 O.O.C. : The track that I was looking forward to most (after "Bye Bye" of course) but it was a disappointment. Nothing new in it, same ol' triad beats with the quatre infusion and with tons of whispering backing vocals. A so-so track. Really disappointment for me. 2/5 For The Record: The more I listen to it, the more I fall in love with this song. I rate this to be the best song in the album and ranks in my list of all time favs with My All, There For Me, WBT and Vision of Love. 5/5 Bye Bye: It sort of has become a tradition to include atleast one inspiring and feel-good track in her albums. This song is that type in this album. This was my fav song until I listened to For The Record. Good message, nice vocals and definitely single material. Glad that it is her next single 4.9/5 I Wish You Well: One of the better songs in the album. I definitely would love to hear this LIVE once. 4.7/5 Overall, the album is a good one. As already mentioned, I rank this album amongst my favs. 3 more days until I get the physical album on my hands. I really wouldn't want them to do something like they did with TEOM. Release a standard edition and then later add some bonus material and release that one as the Ultra Edition or whatever. That is nothing but a coy to earn bucks from fans. Anyway, an album to look forward to and I hope it is a #1 in the Billboard 200. But the more important thing than getting a #1 is the number of copies it sells. And with the recent decline (a sharp decline that is), I hope it would eventually sell atleast 3M copies within the next 6 months. She'll defo sell well in the US but not sure about worldwide. Quote
Nikosn17 Posted April 13, 2008 at 05:03 PM Posted April 13, 2008 at 05:03 PM I read your review. I agree on some of the points... now I guess it's time to write my own review I'll include the bonus japan tracks on it as well. ''Migrate'' - After the first time I heard it (it was the live version at ''Saturday Night Live'') I though it was an ok song but the studio version def took it to another level. I love it now. It's a very-nice track but nothing phenomenal. 7/10 ''Touch My Body'' - Now I see why they choosed it for the first single. No other song from the album will be better for first single than this one. It's still an ok song for me 5.5/10 ''Cruise Control'' - grrr, this song is getting on my nerves, probably my least favorite (except the bonus japan tracks and O.O.C ). 4/10 ''I Stay In Love'' - def one of my favorites on the album. This is an excellent track. I want to hear it live. She sings with a lot of emotions. It's perfect for me... love her low register on it as well 10/10''Side Effects'' - now this one needs to be single. Another amazing track... love the production, the vocals, the lyrics (very personal). 10/10 ''I'm That Chick'' - this song is causing a lot of drama in Mariah's fan world. There are 2 variants... you hate it or you love it. Well I love it but I prefer the live version at ''The Hills'' than the studio version. 8/10 ''Love Story'' - I didn't like it at first but now I can't wait to see the live performance @ Mariah's BET special this wensday. Love the lyrics and the vocals 8/10 ''I'll Be Loving You Longtime'' - I love the oldschool feelings this song brings... there is however something that annoys me in it... I think it's the 1000 time repeating ''i'll be''. 7/10 ''Last Kiss'' - Everyone love to hate on that song. It's an ok song for me. Probably the only album filler. 6/10 ''Thanx 4 Nothin' '' - This one I hated when I first heard it but now it reminds me so much of the Butterfly album and I love it. It's like ''Breakdown'' part 2. 7.5/10 ''O.O.C'' - am... what can I say about this one... awful. Can't stand it. 2/10 ''For The Record'' - great song. It seems like everyone love it. Me too but it's not as good as ''I Stay In Love'' and ''Side Effects''. 9/10 ''Bye Bye'' - same here. Great lyrics, great vocals, very emotional. It's a good 2d single choice. 9/10 ''I Wish You Well'' - LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. This is screaming ''Classic Mariah''. Reminds me of ''Vanishing'', ''The Wind''. 10/10 ''Heat'' - am.... this is joke for me. I can't believe she wrote this 1/10 ''4real 4real'' - a little bit better than ''Heat'' but still sh*t. This 2 bonus tracks ruin the whole album. 2/10 Quote
