Mariah Carey: Official Topic

she should rest at least 2-3 years cause resting really helped her voice recover. remember the glitter era when there's almost no project for her, no huge concerts, and came back for Charmbracelet (which i think her worst album ever). this may be her worst album but her live performances during CB tour was good, vocally. though not as impressive as her Daydeam era, but great when compared to her last tour. the Dreamlover is as good as her 1995 voice. honey & heartbreaker are awsome. always be my baby is a superb performance, but Hero still s**ks.

the belting on charmbracelet was dissapointing and squeaky though. and i mean the studio cd not live performances. on emancipation it somehow sounded a bit better but still squeaky. sometimes i wonder how she even belts in the studio these days - with studio effects? she probably records each syllable separately?

Dear dhena,

You should visit the world tour section sometime to find out if Celine can still sing the high and powerful notes in ABM 100% live.

Concernedly yours,

manuel

don't worry manuel, i just did... and i'm glad she still nailed it.

to Your Su Phu, CB tour was probably one of her best tours ever. but yeah i thought of the same thing too. that she records her songs syllable by syllable and they put them together to make a 'song', and that makes it more complicated for her to perform them live.

Mimi taking it one syllable at a time? LOL

Anyway, there's nothing like a Mimi music video to crack me up. The protests in Tibet may be all over the news but on TMB, it's SO obvious that her boobs are BURSTING to break free but I guess Mimi is such an erotic sadist. On "Shake It Off", there's this fat black prepubescent girl near a public phone shaking her thang. :sofunny:

that syllable thingy is pretty odd, but that's just a senseless observation of mine and Your Su Phu. listen to some parts of TTR.

Speaking of TTR, MADtv once spoofed the music video of this song. "Mariah" was singing "I'm not insane" and at the end, somebody doused her with a bucket of water for her wet look. :giggle: :giggle:

TEOM studio recordings sounded better than CB ones because of the CB Tour. She said that herself. She said that the tour helped her and after it her voice was in great condition.

"Touch My Body" is number 1 on iTunes now.

OMG Mariah has just comfirmed the second single.

It is called ''Bye Bye''. All reviews have been praising the song. They said it's a powerful ballad, very sad song with awesome vocals. It's for people who have passed away. Sounds like ''One Sweet Day''.

I think I'm gonna like this song. She said she might perform it at American Idol.

wow what a great concept! really excited! but i still hope she'll be able to sing it live..

OMG guys!! It's gonna be the battle of the divas on Billboard's Hot 100 next week!! :o

Leona Lewis zooms 8-1 with "Bleeding Love," making her the first British female artist since Kim Wilde in 1987 to achieve a number one song on this side of the Atlantic. Some reported that Natasha Bedingfield was the last one, but "Unwritten" made it to the top of the Pop 100, but only reached number 5 on the Hot 100.

Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" slips one to number 15. It still has a bullet, and I definitely expect it to soar to number 1 next week, since it became available as a download single two days ago.

The only problem in Mariah's path is Madonna, whose "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake is being massively downloaded and is currently at number 3 on iTunes but with just one day of availability. Audience impressions and radio spins for Madonna's latest are also skyrocketing. "4 Minutes" makes its debut on the Hot 100 this week at number 68.

I doubt Leona will block Mariah next week, but Madonna could easily jump inside the Top 5 as early as next week.

Seems she won't get another #1 this time, thanks to Madonna and Leona. :giggle:

OMG the charts can be very unpredictable. I like "Touch My Body," but I remember back in 1991 that Cathy Dennis was number two with "Touch Me (All Night Long)" and I was sooo happy it was going to be number 1 the following week because there was no competition, and Mariah zoomed from 8 to 1 with "I Don't Wanna Cry" and blocked Cathy. :angry2:

I can't believe Leona's #1 on the Hot 100 with "Bleeding Love" :w00t:

Although I'm sad that TMB lost some airplay this week, I'm happy that she can do wonders cos she's Mariah  As for Mad's...no comments from my side :glare:

And OMFG!! I am so liking That Chick :D Thanks, Nik :)

HEY, you're forgetting Celine! IF "Fade Away" is released as a single, she'll have something to say about the charts. :P :P :P

I'm in love with That Chick too.

By the way TMB will be at least in Top 5 next week cause it's now available for download from 2 days on iTunes which is counted the most @ Billboard. The downloads from Monday will count for the next week + TMB is #1 on iTunes and Leona is #2.

As previously reported, Mariah will be headed to Europe soon to promote her new album E=MC². Below are details about her two confirmed appearances in the UK.

The Paul O'Grady Show

Mariah will be a guest on the show which is aired on Channel 4. Mariah's appearance was announced earlier this week on the show. The episodes of this show usually air live but a taping with Mariah is reported to take place on April 2nd at midday.

The Friday Night Project

Mariah will be hosting an episode of the show that will be taped on April 3rd and air on April 4th on Channel 4.

And now there is a new comfirmed show:

According to Radio Times, Mariah will be featured on a T4 Special. The details given by the publication are as follows:

T4/4Music Presents: Mariah Carey

Steve Jones chats to Mariah Carey. Featuring performances from her new album.

N.B. It is yet unknown if this has already been filmed in the United States or is expected to be filmed during Mariah’s UK visit next week.

I'm That Chick is a pretty good song. haven't heard mariah sing this type of song for a while, but i like it. i have no idea if this was live, but it's good. the huskiness of her voice really matched with the beat. All My Life will always be one of my all time favorite Mariah songs (who would've imagined that after the crappy Rainbow cd & the hoarseness of the new songs on #1's, Mariah will sing a song sounds like a Music Box outtake?) i really enjoy this one.

I am sooooooooooooooooo excited about Mariah's new album. Just can't wait.

Touch my body: GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Migrate: LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

That chick: BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With Bye Bye confirmed by Mariah as second single, it seems this album is packed with loads of single material.

Hope Mariah will make it to #1 next week. Although I love Madonna just as much. But let Madonna & Justin wait one week before gaining the #1 position. This way Mariah has her 18th #1 and Madonna will have a #1 as well. I'm also pleased about Leona Lewis. I love "Bleeding love" so much! One of the best songs I've heard in a very long time!

Today Fred Bronson posted an article about Mariah on Billboard.com:

Mariah Closing In On Record For No. 1 Hits

Mariah Carey is on track to collect her 18th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart next week.

"Touch My Body," the first single from her upcoming album, dipped one place to No. 15 on the latest survey. But the fresh availability of a digital download should send the song hurtling to the top next week.

That will push Carey to second place among artists with the most No. 1s in the rock era. The record is held by the Beatles with 20; Carey is currently tied with Elvis Presley.

Carey's album, "E=MC2," the follow-up to her 2005 Grammy-winning smash "The Emancipation of Mimi," arrives April 15 via Island Def Jam.

Asked recently by Billboard if she ever thinks about surpassing the Beatles' record, Carey admitted with a laugh, "I do, because people bring it up. But it's not like I sit around thinking about that type of stuff while I'm creating something. I did write this record in terms of wanting it to be a lot of songs that could potentially be singles, because people like that."

"I think it would be phenomenal," Island Def Jam Music Group chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid says of the prospect. "But the real goal is to create music the whole world can sing. And if we break records and set some milestones while doing that, that would be beautiful."[/size]

I guess no one will stop her, as Madonna can't get past TMB on overall sales, and Leona doesn't have as many plays from Rhythmic and Urban stations as Mariah does, and TMB is also ahead of Leona on Top 40 stations. I think it will definitely be Mariah's 18th chart-topper.

this is a sure #1 next week. but let mariah enjoy mariah's success with this one and let celine enjoy her record being the 1st, and only female artist to have 2 albums that sold more than 30M copies, having the 2nd most successful song by a female artist, and being the best selling female artist of all time with 200M albums sold worldwide... now, do you think mariah can break these record? no way... but, TMB is a sure #1 next week. good job mimi!!!

The video for "Touch My Body" is now available in the iTunes US store, and it just dethroned Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown's "No Air" as the most downloaded video.
