this is the very 1st time i get excited of this new release. i don't know what to expect from her right now, i just hope this will win my ears. Touch My Body is not a good single to introduce the album, but i wish this album well.

I absolutely hate the new album cover ... she looks like she's being stuffed in a chicken feathers sack

As for the TEOM cover, it's also one of my fav album covers... up there with Celine's FIY and eponymous album
Don't compare a classic with a XXXXX.

The Emancipation of Mimi is probably my favorite Mariah album cover (along with Music Box).

Madonna's new album, Hard Candy, is #18 on the Amazon best sellers list for CDs, and it isn't even out til April 29th.

On the other hand, Mariah's new release, E=MC2 (out April 15th) is not even in Amazon's top 100.

Update: Mariah's peeps tell us that her album hasn't gone on sale online yet.

Isn't that odd, though???? It comes out before Madonna's, and hers is already available for pre-order!

Update #2: We went back to Amazon…looks like you CAN pre-order Mimi's E=MC2 on the site. Interesting….

lol well my b-friend is a fan, so I had to go! LOL but it was pretty cool! the first time he was pretty stoned! LOL but the second time was better, quite interactive with the crowd... and even said 'thank you'!! :mdr: He gave a pretty good show... and the effects were cool too! I'm not saying I'll buy his stuff... but overall the concert was very neat!

oh and despite of you might think, there were a lot of 'normal' people at the concert! not just gothics and heavy metal kind of people ^_^

I'm still waiting for a Marilyn - Céline duet! :wub: :laugh:

mariah is so in love with herself !!! and she was so much better 10 yrs ago her cds were more consistent now they are pretty bad ....maybe one or 2 good songs if we are lucky ....and she should put on some clothes she aint all that in my eyes!! :wacko:

Although my favorite MC albums are "Mariah Carey" and "Emotions" I can't believe you only find one or two songs good nowadays. I love Touch my body and Migrate so I have no worries about the new album. And the last album was really good too:

We belong together: one of her best songs EVER

Mine again: it's up there with My all, Can't let go, Love takes time

Stay the night: Can't believe they didn't release it as a single. Has "HIT" written all over it!

Circles: one of my favorites of the album. LOVE it!

Your girl: great song!

Get your number: was a big hit here in Holland. Loved it the minute I heard it!

I wish you knew: love the way they produced it as if it were a live rendition. Great feel.

Speaking of Carlos Santana, I hope he'll be wise enough to collaborate with Celine and not with Mariah. His amazing guitar will blend PERFECTLY with Celine's vintage vocals.

I finally heard TMB in high quality and I had an OMIGOSH moment.

To my ears (at least), her voice has gotten perceptibly deeper. Where, oh, where is her higher pitch as the song moves towards its end?

Just compare her voice in WBT to her voice in the new song and you'll know what I mean. Ugh, I hope she isn't similarly off in the much-anticipated piano ballad.

By the way, is it just me or does the line "I will hunt you down" sound much LIKE the line "We belong together"?

New album review. This one is amazing:

E=MC² is a bit disoriented for a Mariah Carey album title, considering she flunked Math back in high school, but, honestly, it fits. E=MC², according to Mariah, means Emancipation = Mariah Carey to the second power, and this is definitely Mariah at her best.

Confidence, something Mariah is not known for, is all over the disc,

an example being the most Hip-Hop sounding track on the whole album, mid-tempo bouncer Migrate;, in which Mariah assures us that yes, her 'jeans really fit'.

On flirty first single, Touch My Body produced by "Umbrella" hit-makers Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, Mariah shamelessly drawls about 'float[ing] away' with a lover 'on the carribean breeze', as well as being given 'what [she] deserves'. All this is sung over a snap-styled, piano-driven beat which wouldn't sound out of place on the songstress' last album, 2005's mega-hit, Emancipation of Mimi.

On the dancehall influenced C.R.U.I.S.E. Control featuring a rap by Reggae man of the hour, Damien Marley, Mariah tries her hand at Jamaican platois ('pon dem girls on the block', 'no way man, what you tinkan') which makes for a fun Reggae record that would be perfect for playing on the beach on a hot Summer's day.

I Stay In Love, produced by Bryan Cox, is a strong love song featuring amazing lyrics and vocals. Honestly, I haven't heard Mimi sing this way since Butterfly.

The South inspired & Side Effects, produced by Scott Storch, is another Hip-Hop joint in which Mariah confesses to still feeling a bit down on '[her] past mistakes', along with Dirty South rapper Young Jeezy, who fits perfectly on the record. One of my favourites,

I'm That Chick has CLASSIC written all over it. Mariah moans, groans and swoons about her 'ice-cream' tasting/looking bod on a Stargate produced number, which will have the floors running.

Love Story is a ballad in the vein of Mariah's earlier work. It's a good song, though it runs a bit short in both the lyrical department.

The '70s inspired I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time is another hit in the making. It samples "Stay With Me; by Chris DeBarge, which is clearly shown throughout the hook.

Last Kiss, along with Thanx For Nothin' are the album's weakest links, though they are quite good. Both, are ironically produced by Jermaine Dupri, and both are unironically mid-tempos.

Another club banger, OOC, is a party-starting hit, with Swizz Beats' signature horns all over it. Mariah does a bit of French and Spanish speaking in it.

"For The Record", arguably the album's best track, is a ballad about letting go. It is a beautiful song that will speak for itself.

Another beautiful track, Bye Bye, reduced me to tears. It is about losing someone very close to you, and wishing you would've told them you loved them before. 'I wish I told you that I loved you, before you passed away, before you left me all alone, before you went away'.

Lastly, a Mariah Carey album wouldn't be a Mariah Carey album with a gospel song, and this album's gospel song is I Wish You Well. A choir backs up Mariah through the track's final minute, and it includes a lyrical line that sums up the album pretty well: 'It was good while it lasted, I'll never forget it'

Overall, E is filled with potential singles here, there and everywhere, which means it would be really tough for the label to pick a single. Mariah has done it again.

True. After this review I'm excited for all tracks. I hope one of the songs she'll perform at the Hills premier on March 24 will be new. There is no way for her not to sing TMB cause bassicly that is why she is appearing there cause the single is available on iTunes March 24.

omg thanks for posting those reviews! the more positive reviews i read, the more excited i become about this album! really can't wait! but i don't normally listen to the leaked tracks as i want to be surprised when i listen to the whole cd.

but mimi appeared to me as a very confident woman (sometimes, OVER) eversince.

she looks gorgeous and sexy and the song is similarly gorgeous and sensual. I know a lot of celine fans would prefer the old mariah from the beginning of her career, but this song from the "butterfly" album is kind of the middle ground to that and what she would later become :confused: I mean in this song/vid she's sexy but still classy

the video is directed by the great late herb ritts. the set design/atmosphere/black and white color is all very nice

a shame most of her ballads seem to sound the same nowadays. I think this is my favorite ballad of hers.
