It's been longer actually. The media loves to play her up as this big diva (not to say she doesn't have her moments) but she loves to play with it. She likes messing with people's heads. It's funny to her, because she's not necessarily like that in real life.

She gave an interview recently actually. She was recalling how she used to read Marilyn Monroe's biographies as a child.

 

"I was a reader as a child, believe it or not."

Why should I not believe it?

"It doesn't go with the ditzy image, I guess. I have too many highlights!" She breaks into laughter, and I ask if that image – of the ditz – frustrates her. "No. I flirt with it and I play with it. If it pisses people off, whatever."

 

Mariah is sincere and elegant. No one is better than the other. Sure they have different lifestyles but let's not forget Celine has had her moments as well (even if they are rare).

 

It's sad that they ask Celine same questions in english interviews. However I like Celine acting normal and professional. I really like hearing her talk. She haves a cute talking voice

After a few misfires, the diva nails her latest Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse cut

 

Mariah Carey, by now, is a musical legend with a legacy as smooth as her voice. Even so, the leadup to her 14th album, the impeccably titled Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse, has been a bit bumpy. Soft-rocking Miguel duet “Beautiful” was a hit, but throwback R&B tracks “The Art of Letting Go” and “You’re Mine (Eternal),” while classicist and impressive, underperformed – though not as much as Rick Ross showcase “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” which Mariah was barely on. The song was relegated untriumphantly to promotional-single status and dropped from the album’s lineup.

 

“Thirsty,” which premiered today, is almost like an attempt to fix that, to get the hip-hop-influenced track right. Producer Hit-Boy (a couple of his eponymous hits: Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Paris,” Beyoncé’s “XO” and “Flawless”) gives Carey one of his signature beats: a minimalist synth hook that breaks into martial strings or imperial sangfroid when the mood calls for it. And this time Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan’s the one who gets dominated by Carey’s larger-than-life presence; he warbles Future-ish backing vocals on the hook while Carey dismisses the titular “thirsty” braggart.

 

The anti-scrub track is one of Mariah's best looks - sometimes she even names names, as with Eminem on "Obsessed" (& "Clown")- and as always, Carey makes it seem and sound utterly effortless.

Just heard the new song. It's not bad, it's a fun song. But Mariah's voice sounds a bit strange on it and I don't really like it. It reminds me of Celine on 'Breakaway'.

My mistake. Someone on youtube put the song on there saying it was Mariah, but its actually Jamie O'Neal!! No wonder i wasn't impressed, thought MC would've done something more with the song than that!! The beginning sounds very Mariah, but if you listen to the end its quite clear.

I am not Mariah fans but i gave it a try to this album beacuse i'm so 'thirsty" of good music, and i'm disapointed.

Just got Me. I Am Mariah. and I have to say that I am enjoying it much more than I would have thought because Memoirs had a few dull moments. It is a rather "slowish songs" album, particularly in the beginning, but I think that the songs really suit her.

 

I can see Dedicated being a good choice for the US market, and You Don't Know What To Do as an international one - it has this kind of summer vibe. The problem with MOAIA, apart from the fact that it was too ballad-heavy, was that it was mostly produced by The-Dream and his signature sound was waaaay too obvious that it became too much!! too many tracks with finger clicks, whisper-voice singing, mid-tempo-ish... i genuinely missed Mariah's full voice towards the end!!! i really like The-Dream and he's made some of the coolest songs ever (Rihanna's "Umbrella", JHoliday's "Bed" ...and lets not forget his remix for Mariah's "Touch My Body" which sounded better than the original). but Dream should never be allowed to produce an entire albm!! i have his 2 albums "Love King" & "Love vs Money"; the songs individually sounded cool & catchy but the album as a whole had ONE sound to it ...almost all the songs were either a ballad or mid-tempo ballad ...and by the end u'd be completely worn out & forget which song is which!! no versatility at all!!

Still, i thought MOAIA had one of Mariah's best work yet... "HATEU"!! that song shouldve been the second single & it was such a fan favourite before the album was even released!! its such a shame that "HATEU" suffered such bad management & one of the worst Mariah videos ever, it went without a trace on the charts!! even the rest of the songs on MOAIA were great enough. listen to the songs separately, rather than playing the album as a whole, they're all lyrically & melodically awesome.

i'd still love it if Mariah & The-Dream work together again for 2 or 3 tracks for a project; but not for an entire album!!

I gave this album a try on Spotify, and got my hopes high, since it was her first album in like 5 years or so and man.. I really don't like it. She hardly sings with full voice, it's all whispering. I know she is one of the Divas of the 90's, but I think her glory days are over. And then those photos in the booklet... why does she always have the do a photoshoot where there is a lot of skin shown, and those looks, I now know why man like her a lot . I think if she had sung the songs in full voice I think I really could've liked some songs.

10/10: You Don't Know What To Do, Meteorite, Thirsty, Dedicated, #Beautiful, You’re Mine (Eternal)

 

 

9/10: Betcha Gon Know, Make It Look Good, Supernatural

 

 

8/10: Cry, Faded, Camouflage, The Art Of Letting Go

 

 

7/10: Heavenly , It’s A Wrap

 

 

5-6/10: Money, One More Try (I only like the ending, could have been replaced by Almost Home or Triumphant, which would have suited the album very well!)
