yeah I know what you mean, but it's not a cold! she has problem with vocal chords. as you can see she tries but nothing works, she cant hit anything

but her whistles are getting better and better with time again because of her nodules... which is so stupid cause she can't sing songs which are full of whistles from beginning to end. One thing that I'm happy is that she sang live... who would have thought. and still I liked the performance.

I don't understand the vocal nodules thing. if I'm not wrong didn't most belting singers including celine have that at some point? shouldn't you get surgery for it or sth?

Not really. Mariah had them since she was a child... I mean she said that she's born with them. That's the main reason why she can do her ''whistles''. But the thing with the nodules of this type is that they get bigger with time and age (she's obviously older now) and if you use your voice very often and push it hard (and obviously she has overdone it with all the singing and whistles etc.) they get terrible and the result is what we see these days in Mariah's performances. Everytime she pushes her voice it affects her nodules. It's just terrible but that's the truth. I've read a lot about them. The worse her belting/mid range gets the better her whistles become.

I believe she said that she's scared of doing the surgery because there are some singers that completely lost their voices after these type of surgery. It's dangerous and she'll most likely loose the whistles ability.

That's right. She shouldn't even try to belt. She shoudl let the backup singers sing the belt notes and she sings the whistles only as always.

The nomination night's performance would be nice enough for Tylor Swift or even Lindsay but for Mariah it's still subpar. It's pitiful to see some insecure fans of hers asserting she was OH SO GOOD OMG. She wasn't by her own standards by far good. She struggled to belt out those belts heavily, her roughness was clearly to be heard throughout the song. So what she sang one song in like 2 years FULLY live? Big damn deal. Her voice is shot this or that way and she should stick to singing Say Something instead.

I haven't noticed it before but Mariah and Celine have very similar chins .

and about liking raspy voices...there's a raspy voice with strength like garou or bonnie tyler..and a raspy voice that is out of breath and can barely get out the note

but having said that

 

the movie actually looks interesting from that preview O_O not amazing..actually it sounds pretty cliche BUT mariah SEEMS to handle the role quite well from that video anyway. but a few seconds from a clip don't prove much so I guess we'll have to see. the reviews have been pretty mixed so far though
