Mariah's fans want this to be a flop since we first read the songlist and even if it gets released in the US it still will be a ''limited release album'' cause in Europe it was released only in 3 countries. (UK,Ireland,Italy).

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" Crosses 1 Million Mark

Mariah's classic Holiday song, "All I Want For Christmas Is You," moves up 27 spots on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart to #29 (from #56) with 39,556 downloads this week or +94% from last week. The song has now sold 1,000,778 downloads in total!

 

In the same period last year, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" was at #8 with 60,846 downloads on the Hot Digital Songs chart.

 

After appearing on Billboard's Holiday Songs chart each year since the list's 2001 launch, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" finally ascends to its first week at #1.

 

In Airplay, as of week ending December 2, 2008, the song has registered 40.214 million audience impressions, with 5253 spins, which is about the same as last year.

LA Times Names "Right To Dream" As Best Song Contender

Finding music worthy of an original song nomination wasn't much of a challenge the last two years. As evidence, three selections from "Enchanted" were nominated in 2008 and three from "Dreamgirls" in 2007. But in early summer, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences altered the rules, allowing only two songs per film to be nominated, thereby ensuring that voters will have to dig -- at least a little. And that may be harder than it sounds. This year hasn't produced an Eddie Vedder-penned soundtrack ("Into the Wild") or a bevy of light pop tunes from singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche ("Dan in Real Life"). That's not to say some front-runners haven't emerged. Here's a look at some of 2008's notable film songs.

Mariah Carey's "Right to Dream." In need of a guitarist for "Right to Dream," Carey aimed high, going straight to country legend Willie Nelson. Written for "Tennessee," in which Carey plays an aspiring singer, "Right to Dream" is restrained elegance, with some light, finger-picked guitar flourishes and a dash of late-night soul. "I was humming different melodies while I was on the set and stuff," Carey says. "I was just thinking that Willie Nelson would be somebody fabulous to collaborate with. I reached out to him, and we met after one of his concerts."

Mariah Carey and Foo Fighters are among the top music acts hoping to bring some sparkle to the latest Grammy nominations announcement.

 

Organisers have brought in the big names for a primetime live music extravaganza to replace the usual dull morning press conference of recent years.

 

Other acts at the concert, which will be held at LA’s Nokia Theatre and broadcast live on US channel CBS, include John Mayer, Taylor Swift and Celine Dion.

 

“This gives us an opportunity to have more music on television and … really bring the ultimate amount of attention to the beginning of Grammy season,” Neil Portnow, president and chief executive of the Recording Academy, said. “It’s a more grand way to initiate Grammy season for us.”

 

Taylor Swift and LL Cool J are set to host the show, which will announce nominees in just a handful of the 110 categories.

 

The Academy hopes it will become an annual event, with artists this year performing classic recordings recently inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Newly-nominated artists are also expected to be on hand to talk about their nominations.

 

Potential nominees include Taylor and Mariah, along with Coldplay, Radiohead, Lil Wayne and Rihanna.

 

Welsh singer Duffy, who shot to No 1 with her catchy single Mercy, is likely to be among best new artist nominees, along with fellow Brit Estelle, who raked in accolades for her track American Boy with Kanye West.

It was a song from the ''Grammy Hall Of Fame'' list and this is the first time she performed it live so she respected all the rules and sang an old song. + the Grannies always use her for ratings... so at least she should benefit something from all the things these stupid loosers have done.

Alicia, Mariah, Madonna: Grammy Snubbed

 

 

Another year, and more weird Grammy nominations from left field. You can count on it as a definite right up there with death and taxes.

 

The big disaster: all but total snub of Alicia Keys's album, "As I Am." It should have been in Best Album, Song and Record. Instead, Keys was relegated to Best R&B album, R&B vocal performance by a female, and her duet with the ubiquitous darling of the awards, John Mayer. That the Grammys chose to snub Keys-maybe the leading performer/writer of her generation-speaks volumes.

Only two nominations, and minor ones, for Madonna for her Hard Candy album.

 

Strange nominations: tracks from Paul McCartney and Beyonce each came from unofficial albums, or side releases that are generally unavailable or unknown.

 

In fact, the McCartney nomination is for a live version of his song "That Was Me," taken from a limited edition twelve inch vinyl release of four songs from his promotional performance at Amoeba Records in Hollywood.

 

What? Is this the bootleg Grammy show? McCartney released a very good album called Memory Almost Full including that song, that got nothing otherwise.

 

Or how about the Best Song nomination for a track by unknown singer Estelle and Kanye West? There are seven collaborators listed. The "song" also includes three samples. Best Dance Record maybe. But Best Song? I'm not convinced the judges on this panel knew what constituted a song. It's very disappointing because they had many other better choices, and ignored them.

 

Of course, the big money is on Coldplay to just sweep everything and call it a day. Their album and title track, "Viva La Vida," is the equivalent of U2 from a couple of years ago. And the value added of Coldplay wife Gwyneth Paltrow in the audience, being thanked by Chris Martin, etc. is incentive enough for the Grammy telecast.

 

Then there is the annual Kanye kerfuffle. He sampled a Daft Punk track called "Harder Better Stronger Faster" for his own track, called "Stronger" on his 2007 album, "Graduation." That album was released in September 2007 and was eligible for last year's Grammys. However: this year, the original Daft Punk track is nominated for Best Instrumental. According to amazon.com it was released on December 4, 2007 and was discontinued. It's not available except maybe on a downloading service.

 

And there's more. Beyonce is nominated for a track called "Me Myself I." It wasn't a single and it's not from an album. It's from the ITunes audio version of a DVD live concert called The Beyonce Experience. Again, are there are any rules anymore, or is this just a way to make sure Beyonce is on the show?

The whistle wasn't fiasco. She hit it well. And actually this was def and improvement for her voice. 1st of all because she finally sang live and second of all there were some nice moments... yeah the raspiness was too much but I'm happy with it. She did hit the whistle and it was on point. I don't know if you realise how fast she did the change from her belting voice to whistle. It was a nice performance Vinny like it or not. She had a lot more disastrous moments. It's not the worst thing on Earth. Most people seem to enjoy it surprisingly.
