the reason why the "worldwide" was quoted is simply because if you're gonna compare their album sales, almost 3/4 of Mariah's sales are from the US. take E=MC2 as an example and compare them to Taking Chances and Hard Candy. granted that E=MC2 outsold them in the US, but look at TC and HC sales worldwide. TC with 3.3 (1M in the US), HC with 3.3 (less than 700k in the US), E=MC2 with 1.8, with 1.2M in the US and just 600k outside America) don't forget that TEOM's sales are 9M. 6 are from the US, and just 3M outside the US. it's in wikipedia (of course im not saying u have to trust it, but this is really true)

 

Carey has also had notable success on international charts, though not to the same degree as in the United States

 

Celine and Madonna doesn't have an album with higher sales in the US.

Well I've always admitted that she's most succesful in the USA. There's no question about it. But that doesn't mean that she isn't popular outside of the USA.

 

Look at this:

 

Albums that have sold more worldwide than in the USA are Music Box, Merry Christmas, Glitter, Greatest Hits, Charmbracelet, #1's, MTV Unplugged. (7 albums)

Albums that have sold equally in the USA and worldwide are Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Emotions (4 albums)

Albums that have sold more in the USA are TEOM, The Remixes, Mariah Carey and E=MC2 (4 albums)

Canada:-

Mariah Carey’s seasonal classic album, Merry Christmas, starts picking up steam in Canada.

 

The album is up thirteen places on the Official Canadian R&B Albums Chart to No.14 (previously 27).

 

Ireland:-

Mariah Carey’s classic album “Merry Christmas” continues to perform on the Official Irish Albums Chart. The seasonal classic holds steady at No.80.

 

The good news does not stop there! Mariah Carey’s super hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” rises two places on the Official Irish Singles Chart to No.47.

those international act figures don't come close to how many albums japanese buy for their top domestic acts. the thing is, mariah's sales there used to rival even the domestic acts. close to or over 3 million for several of her albums there. now struggling for 200k! The Colour Kit costs around 250 INR (not totally sure) while the standard edition of the album cost 399 INR.

Mariah Expecting?

Is Mariah Carey expecting something? Yes! Grammy nominations.

 

But what about a baby? It seems not, at least for the moment.

 

It doesn't mean that she hasn't been trying. Since she married much younger actor Nick Cannon last spring, the speculation is that Mariah would soon be pregnant.

 

Last week, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres kept prodding her about it in an interview. She even tried to get her to drink Champagne. When Mariah only sipped it, Ellen declared, "You're pregnant!"

 

Well, there are plenty of other reasons not to drink on national television. But in this case, it wasn't pregnancy.

 

A friend of Mariah's laughed when I asked if the singing siren was knitting baby booties.

 

"She isn't," the friend replied, and added that there was no sign of the stork yet.

 

What Mariah may be expecting this week are Grammy nominations for her "E=MC²" album.

 

She's scheduled to be one of the hosts this Wednesday, Dec. 3, on the Grammy's prime time show on CBS. She, Taylor Swift and LL Cool J will announce nominees in six of the top categories.

 

Knowing the Grammys, they haven't asked Mariah to do it unless she's in good shape. "E=MC²" should pick up nods in Best R&B album, Best Pop album, and Best Female in both R&B and pop.

about the video, that's prolly her BEST performance of ATYNAF. also IDWC (can she possibly be more cute in speaking Japanese? LOL) . Daydream era was her vocal peak. never a bad notes.
