Taking Chances World Tour DVD Pre-Release Thread Part 1

I'm mega pissed off that the ''majority'' of ppl at this screening were not Celine fans, so why were they invited in the 1st place when actual fans (i.e members of this board living in the area) never got the chance/invite?

 

And more importantly these same people were then asked for their opinion on a questionnaire, which could possibly effect the final product...??? wtf

 

I'm furious.....

Yes , imagine if they answered YES at the question : WAS THERE TOO MUCH BEHIND-THE-SCENES FOOTAGE OR CONCERT FOOTAGE?

The thing is that fans (99% anyway) will buy the DVD anyway (whether they like what's on it or not)....whereas the 'general audience'/the casual fans, need to be persuaded. They need to be convinced and in the end, they are the majority which will make the DVD a hit or not. So they were prob thinking they are the ones targeted for the special preview..

There is that, but who is gonna go out and buy a Celine dvd, or go see a Celine movie at a theatre..... a Celine fan, or someone who aint a fan, hello, lol....

 

And a non fan who filled out that questionnaire could possibly have the power to have something cut, that a celine fan would have loved to have seen in it etc... if you get were I'm coming from.

 

They could have done this in 7/8 countries held on the one day and had press and fans and some non fans attend, and then go away and tally up the questionnaire results, not one silly screening like this in one country....

 

I think it was such an idiotic move personally.

They could have easily gone with the Boston/Montreal show and called the release "Taking Chances World Tour" but why make the tour itself as the main thing when it was for an album that failed to prove significant in Celine's English career? The docu format serves an idea (Celine's essence both as person and as a diva) more prestigious than what she has done lately in the eyes of the mainstream public.

 

Ironically enough, a full concert might end up being the BONUS feature.

Yeah, they could do that. I remember Irish band The Corrs doing the same in 2005. A show from their 'Borrowed Heaven' tour was recorded, but the main focus was a new documentary, which featured shots from their childhood, all the way to present day (till the end of the tour). And that documentary, "All The Way Home" became the main feature on disc one and the (full) concert on disc 2.

while the CD may not have proved significant for her career, the tour wass VERY significant. It was one of the top 3 grossing concert of the year. So the Tour was very well received and was given a lot of positive acclaim.

Yep and it's fair to say that's one of the best music DVD's I own. I'd be quite happy if the Taking Chances DVD was something similar.

I dont care if the concert is disc 1 or disc 2, as long as there is a release of the Taking Chances concert Tour dvd! I love the idea of Through the eyes of the world documentary! PLEASE, I just hope that there is a disc of the tour in its entirety so i can relive the moment! I am so excited i can barely stand it! We are close to a release date!

Yes, and they are taking this too long already! This DVD should have been released in middle 2009 . The more time it takes, the less interest will be from the general public!! I mean, this kind of DVD's have to be released as soon as possible, after the tour ends. Not 1 year and a half later!

I believe that it would be great if something like that happened with Celine's release. Having the Boston concert as a worldwide release and the Montreal concert for sale in France and Canada, of course.

Oh yeah - is that still hapenning? Will it be a seperate release like the LAP and ACDS live CDs?

 

Or maybe they'll release a deluxe boxset with both DVDs, the CD and a mini Autour du monde booklet full of photos!!!

I think it would be a real mistake for Sony not follow through on releasing both concerts in Boston & Montreal as annouced back in March 2008.

I think they may have the idea of doing the documentary film as there is SO much footage... and release that in a package with the planned 2 concerts on DVD/Blu-ray. Lots of other artists have done that! Would be great for celine too, especially how good the production of all this will be

 

I'm not worried yet!

They filmed two nights both in Boston and Monteral

 

The reason they did a screening was probably because they already have the compete set list for the full concert and only need feedback on the "Documnetry" part of the DVD..

Of course the dvd will have the concert, otherwise they'd make no money- they are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on making this package, it's taking a long time because of these cool bonus features...it's going to be great

To put things into a bit of perspective I've just been doing a bit of digging on CelineDion.com and their first official announcement of the Taking Chances DVD was on March 11th 2008! See below:

I find it incredible that we're almost in December 2009 and neither they or Sony have said a word about it since!!!

(Don't know which city.) Celine takes a boat ride, RC and René go golfing. Rene Charles is very good at golf. There's a scene earlier where RC is in his hotel room hitting golf balls, almost hitting Celine as she comes out of the bathroom.

 

Hmm, this could be Amsterdam, as Céline (and her mother and sisters) took a boat ride...and René & RC went golfing...

 

that's what i thought too!!! :D who knows, she also had an boat trip in London, but with RC en Rene...

 

I'm a little afraid that things will change, i think they should had screenings in more places and with fans...

I think it would be a documentary with the show as bonus... and i think they did there best to add as many footage as possible in 2 hours, but of course we want more

I think when reading the official announcement in 2008 we really get everything, only later.

I am not afraid anymore because this is just what they already announced; lips of Celine travelling around the world, behind-the-scenes footage, as well as international fan testimonials - that is just part 2 of the package - the documentary

and we get the whole english concert ( and maybe also the french one) on the other dvd(s).

cannot wait anymore! how exciting!!!
