Taking Chances World Tour DVD Pre-Release Thread Part 1

We talk here about a bonus feature. Just the Bonus.....They recorded the Boston and Montreal concerts. Before the concert started they announced that the people attend the dvd taping. They did that just in these 2 cities.

So don't worry about it. The full concert will be released. Céline is not Madonna and vice versa :thumbsup2:

It's just logical

Yes , i was in at the montreal concert when they recorded the dvd but I'm worried about the fact that they include complete songs in this movie so I'm beginning to doubt about the fact that we're actually gonna get to see a whole concert filmed in one place

Posted
so is this more like a documentry or a concert dvd? either is fine with me.. i think it'd be great to see a documentry with Celine around the world, there would still be live performances im sure. yay!! well if they are screening then we must be going ot get a release date soon!!

The Wait Is Over?

Do we need to go over how many thing that were thought to be logical never happened the way they should have?

It's logical to release the DVD of Millennium Concert, Brunei, AND Blonde, and Memphis....especially when they were all finished.

Single choices should be logical. Yet the selection gets poorer and poorer each album.

It's logical to include EVERY song from a concert. Every DVD except AND has songs removed.

When it comes to the releases for Celine, logic is rarely used.

I'll wait to give my opinion when we have all the details about the DVD and when I have it in hands. Only then will I be able to give an honest opinion about it.

i love the idea, but like many fans i want the actual concert too

so if they don't release concert then i think we should do a biggest petition

Don't you worry, I have already stressed this today to my contact, as I and other members want both on this dvd also, and feel so strongly about this.....

So lets just hope for ''once'', that my contacts ( who are amazing by the way ) collegues, who make ''the final decisions'' on all things Celine over the past two decades, actually ''listen'' to them and Celine's huge and loyal fan base on this forum for once, and make this project mind blowing a huge success for everyone involved and give the fans what they want and deserve! ;)

Why don't have confidence in Production J. ? I am sure that they are preparing something spectacular, so we should stop being so conservatives and accept that this time it's not a traditional "live at"; If the dvd is a compilation of the best perfomances she did wherever she was in the world, we should be very happy and not concerned. That was my opinion, guys

I'm aware of whats on the drawing board which is really cool... but nothing has been confirmed just yet, is what I'm saying, and if we have time as huge fans to put our two cents in.... guess what I'm going to do, is all I'm getting at ;)

That's be cool if it's a bonus disc- I like the idea of following her around the world and we'd maybe have a performance from each country- maybe Think Twice from Manchester, MHWGO in Dublin etc etc and some of those moving moments like A Song For You in Stockholm, Charice in MSG, MY Love in Arras etc. Woohoo!!

I also strongly believe that we will get FULL DVD, and a bonus guess... just my guess.

They would be crazy not to have a disc with a full concert dvd on. It is what the general public would want! The average person who likes celine but isn't a huge fan wouldnt necessarily want a disc with interviews and clips only...that I believe is more of something a ''fan'' would want to see (as well as a full concert of course!)

I think they will release a double disc set, extras (like AND - but seems like there will be even more juicy bits!) and then the full concert. I do wonder though what the plan will be for the french/english shows. Will one set be with a french concert with a disc with backstage things in french - like AND, and then an english concert and a disc with english backstage footage?

this actually seems like a movie...they are going to make a movie out of this...it's not the DVD...although i'm sure it uses a lot of the same stuff

ahhhhhh i'm so excited

You're welcome. :flowers:

The email invitation was only sent out on Monday, and the screening was on Tuesday - but he said that the theater was full. And some of them seemed to be big fans, wearing t-shirts, etc. He got the invitation, because he goes to a lot of screenings in the area.

There was no information as to if this was a bonus feature or the actual DVD, etc. They called it an inspirational film.

I don't really mind, as long as we get something - and soon! :P It would be nice to have the full concert, but maybe that would be hard to do because the setlist changed so much throughout the tour? I wish all cities would be included though, at least quick clips... because you know they filmed everything...

What would it matter if it changed so much throughout the tour, as long as the DVD is from just two shows? Not to mention the AND setlist changed even more then this one did, and FIY and LTAL changed quite a bit too.

You know I really don't care on way or the other, But I do want this one to be BETTER than Madanna"s .. Hey, she may have beat us in concert $$, I sure hope that we beat her with this DVD for as long as we have waited,, BTW is anyone going to plan a meet and greet in some place, so we can LIVE this one together as ONE. Would be a great idea. Any thoughts or suggestions..

Can we have some DETAILS about the film that was screened in LA?

I just hope they don't jip the US fans like they did with the AND LV DVD they put better behind the scene's stuff of her with RC at home on the Quebec DVD and barely any stuff of her at home with RC on the US DVD. If they do that again then I'm buying both DVD's this time, I'm willing to bet they will do this again with the seperate DVD's put certain behind the scene's stuff on one dvd and cut half of it out and stick the left over bits on the US DVD like they did AND LV. :glare:

This is so confusing and very frustrating...for almost 2 years we have waited for a dvd of the actual concert in full that we all saw and loved...now we are getting reports of an inspirational film documentary with footage from different shows with interviews and behind the scenes. This is all brand new information as of a day or two ago...now darren is saying he is going to tell his contacts that we all want the full concert on dvd..so im confused...there were never plans to release the full concert but only a behind the scenes documentary? and release some spur of the moment mystery film screening of this super secret documentary that nobody even knew about? This is so confusing and so frustrating..so can someone with any real information please share if there were or are plans to release the taking chances dvd in full as a concert dvd? This all makes no sense esp the mystery spur of the moment screenings of this documentary and what exactly it is. As I have said in previous posts..I have very little enthusiasm for this whole thing now.

This is catastrophe. For waiting so much to get nothing at the end.Unbelievable.What the fools they are.Not fair,we have to react immediately to not let this to happen
Thank u Jesus. Im in ur hands now.

I agree..after years for waiting for an actual full concert release of the entire show beginning to end..we are most likely(based on the news we are getting the last few days) a documentary about the tour(which should be very very interesting of course) but its not the actual experience of seeing a full celine dion concert...thats the sad part...hopefully we are wrong and thats just part of the bonus and extras.....maybe thats exactly what it is..which would be spectacular if we gotthat PLUS the entire concert which is what most of us want and have been patiently waiting for for a few years. Again anyone with any real news or updates or furthur insight into whats really going on would greatly be appreciated...again no offense to anyone..its just about time for the fans to get some concrete information and insight. This new info about the documentary is not cool..atleast for me..if its bonus excellent if its the only thing we are getting...very disappointing

I absolutely agree with u.The first reaction made me totally crazy, but we should come down and hope for the best waiting the real news about all.Fingers crossed.

wasn't it celinedion.com who said we would have 2 full concerts?

The only source with the official news???

And now we would get nothing? Only a great great documentary. But let's face it

we all want a full concert and the documentary as a bonus.

Much more detailed review of the screening: :flowers:

Nearly half of the film is subtitled because she speaks French most of the time. The theater held about 400 people. But 1/4 of the seats were saved for producers and filmmakers. It started at 7 and he got out around 9:15. People seemed to be fans, some wearing t-shirts (remember, people weren't forced to go so you either accepted the invite or not. So those who accepted were, most likely, fans or brought along fans.)

The film seemed to go in chronological order of the tour - starting in Africa and ending in the States (Omaha). As each city was revealed, they would flash the City/Country and date on the screen. After a while you can start to see a pattern in the film. Basically for each city she visited in the film, she would sing a song (either a partial one or the complete song) and then cut to her touring the city, rehearsing, or just relaxing with friends or family. Then off to the next city and the same thing happens.

It started with a shot of the stage, screens down showing Celine driving a car intercut with her behind the scenes getting ready to sing, "I Drove All Night." During the entire song, it's intercut with her singing from different cities. Then they edited an entire sequence of her saying 'hello' to each city which went on for like 5 minutes (Hello Dubai / Hello New York / Hello Paris / Hello Montreal / etc.

The first country they featured was South Africa. A big press conference welcomed her to the country as local singers sang for her. Showed clips of her meeting with children and singing for them. One in particular, she serenaded a teenage girl. She met with Nelson Mandela and visited his jail cell. Before going to the jail, during the bus ride, René was explaining to RC the story of Mandela.

One scene, she's sitting in her make-up chair as she talks to her choreographer about each element in the show. They go through each song, where on stage she's going to go, where singers and dancers are going to be. Celine is speaking , quickly singing songs in fast forward while going over her blocking on stage. (As she does this, they cut in concert scenes to match what she's saying)

Also in Africa, they went on a safari. Later, they got to hold baby lions. Celine loved this and forced René to hold one as the other sniffed RC's hair.

One of the saddest parts was when she visited Berlin, Germany. Celine, her son and husband got a special tour of a concentration camp. She broke down and cried.

Dubai: They interviewed a fan who said she loved what Celine stands for. A fan after the concert said they waited like...15 years for this concert.

Milan, Italy: Meet and greet after the show with Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King.

Japan: Meet and greet with some sumo wrestlers. Poses with them in their sumo stance.

France: Press conference with President Sarkozy. He presents her with the Medal of Honor for, "being a great role model and singing the French language all over the world." Intercut of her singing a French song during her concerts. Funny scene right after in the limo. Rene Charles ask her about the medal and asks to wear it. René explains that he can't even wear it - only she can wear it. she got it because she spreads the French language all over the world and only a few people ever get awarded the honor. Rene says, " I sing in French too."

Australia: They interview the only Australian dancer on the tour. He takes the cameras to his parent's house for dinner. Later, news footage shows Celine wearing a medical mask. Has to cancel the show. News footage of fans upset. (He thinks that night at dinner with her tour entourage, RC starts singing, "We Will Rock You" as everyone bangs on the table to the beat.) During the rescheduled date, the dancer brings his family to the meet and greet.

Scene of them celebrating her mom's birthday.

South Korea: Talking to the audience, she introduces one of her backup dancers who was born in S. Korea and is visiting for the first time since she left. Celine also introduces one of the musicians (I'm assuming he meant Elise, he said "the flute singer", lol.) who brings out her Korean son. He's visiting for the first time also.

There's a scene where they show her, after the concert, walking by the fans and shaking their hands as she's flanked by her bodyguards. You can see that she's having trouble walking. Immediately right after, in her green room, she tries to come up with a better way for her body guards not obstruct her when she goes to her fans.

(Don't know which city.) Celine takes a boat ride, RC and René go golfing. Rene Charles is very good at golf. There's a scene earlier where RC is in his hotel room hitting golf balls, almost hitting Celine as she comes out of the bathroom. :P

There was a whole section where they focused on her fans. Lining up outside her hotel, outside the arena as she leaves, fans running after her limo. They interview her driver who says that he's worked for many famous people and Celine, he says, is the only one he's seen that spends 2-3 hours after a show signing autographs.

New York City: She leaves her hotel (again, surrounded by fans). A boy on a bike rides alongside her motorcade in rush hour traffic handing her stuff to sign. She obliges and hands it back to him as her car drives in busy traffic.

One concert, they show her singing in the rain.

Montreal: She's nervous singing in her hometown. Makes a joke about school friends now wishing they were friends with her.

Another meet and greet after her show with Muhammad Ali. Another with a woman who gave her son her kidney. Boy gives her a stuffed animal which makes Celine cry. She keeps it and sets it atop her mirror in her dressing room. Another where she meets a woman in a wheelchair, paralyzed. The woman tells her if it weren't for Celine, she couldn't have lived. Another where she sings with a fan. Pretty cool because she starts singing with her - he thinks she's from Sicily but she was so excited she started breathing into her inhaler!

Her doctor visits her. She has mild complains of tightness in her jaw/neck area. He comes in and snaps her jaw back in place.

Right before one of her shows, she wakes up with a strained voice. Then we see her at Arco Arena in Sacramento in the shower harmonizing in one of the showers (He thinks this is when they cut to her singing "The Show Must Go On." )

It gets serious towards the end when she complains of more tightness in her throat. She flies back to Montreal to see her doctors who stick a camera down her throat to examine her vocal chords. The doctor recommends that she cancel her upcoming dates. Cut to René on the phone (possibly with tour director) telling him to cancel for two weeks and reschedule.

Her first show back, she still doesn't have her voice back and hopes she'll pull through. Cut to next scene where she's about to hit her first high note and hits it.

Ended with "My Heart Will Go On." See her and everyone on stage going below the stage. They all hug goodbyes afterwards. She gets in the limo with her son and husband.

The only U.S. shows they focused on were New York, Omaha and that little snippet of Sacramento. Definitely no Boston footage.

There was a scene with Celine in a car talking about RC losing he stuffed bunny rabbit when they left Los Angeles. She said he was crying and crying because he couldn't find it. Then during the car ride, Celine gets a call from someone who tells her that they found his stuffed animal. Excited, she calls RC to tell him the good news and they start singing "We Will Rock You " again. Celine hold up her cell and you hear RC singing on the other end. The next scene, we see RC either at his home or another hotel running around playing with his bunny rabbit.

After the screening, they passed out a questionnaire that included questions like, "What was your favorite scenes?" "What were your least favorite scenes?" "What parts were too slow or too fast?" "Was the pacing ok?" "Were there any songs you wished were in the film?" "Would you recommend this film to a friend?" "Was it too much concert footage?" "Too much behind the scenes?"

Questionnaire included three possible titles: Through the eyes of the World, The Show Must Go On (and, he thinks, "Her World.")

He says it was more of a documentary - sort of along the lines of Michael Jackson's This Is It movie. Not being a HUGE FAN, he liked this a lot. He liked getting to see a more personal side to Celine that most don't get to see.
