"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

That'll be the end of the album in the UK now unless Sony UK do something to seriously change its fortunes. Don't get me wrong the album has done VERY well so far but it's out of steam now unless they do something. Quietly releasing singles without any promotion will not keep the album going and waiting for Mother's Day to come around (3 months away!) wont keep the album in the charts either.

So the question to Sony is what are they doing right now to sustain album sales?

To give things a bit of perspective "Taking Chances" has been out for 9 weeks now in the UK, and let's face it after 2 flop singles, is holding up well in the charts. By comparison "X" by Kylie has been out for 7 weeks and is now down to #40 in the album charts, that from an album that has spawned 2 Top 30 hits so far.

Well, Celine Dion's comeback album is still considered not doing well 'cos for the fact that it has been released nearly at the same time with Alicia keys' and Alicia keys' album has sold more than her. Alicia is surely to beat Josh Groban's xmas album.

i beg to disagree. :confused: but comparing alicia keys' AS I AM to josh groban's NOEL is quite unfair. josh's album was only available during holiday season. seeing the fact that NOEL sold truckloads of cds in the US alone, it really deserves the title of the best selling album of the year. alicia for sure will outsell NOEL in the long run, but nowhere u can find his cd. i have both albums. AS I AM and NOEL. alicia's as i am is kinda boring but a new sound for my ears. NOEL is a classic josh album. i love it.

back to taking chances, let's just wait for the airing of the tv special. but if that fail to boost TC's sales, let's wait for the tour, if same situation happen, let's wait for the singles to be released, but if the sales is still weak, let's wait for another new album. maybe 2012. :sofunny:

Taking Chances nowhere in sight

I think that we must get into the same mind frame that I think Rene and Celine are in now. She has been through that stage in her career where she had the large "immediate" sales of albums....I think now Celine's albums will still sell well but over a more leisurely and sustained period of time...which is fine by me :yes: We realy cannot expect Celine to put in the time for promotion and Videos now. Her priorities have changed, she has Rene-Charles to consider to be honest I am amazed she has done as much as she has for Taking Chances, I expected her to have a long break after Vegas but no she was straight into promotion and then a world tour....exhausting I am sure. I am only to pleased for her to slow down and enjoy the fruits of her previous hard work now. If that means we get a new album every few years or so and some concerts. If a reduction in promotion means Celine carries on working at a managable pace rather than saying "this is to mucn I am packing in altogether" I think that is best.

Now I will get off my soap box LOL

Taking Chances sales are doing just fine I think, by the end of the Tour I feel sure we will see amazing figures that have grown steadily throughout the coming year.

A reflection perhaps of what can happen when an album like TC carries no hit single and marketing sucks - a short-lived charts success. Let's just hope with the CBS Special on tap, TC could rebound...but, who knows, it might be kinda late by then...

Hmmm... it's not unfair to compare Alicia's and Josh's album 'cos their albums are released near at the end of the year. It doesn't really matter that Josh album fits the season. It was a surprise that his album sold that well. Other Christmas albums don't So it's still fair. But in the long run, alicia's album will not be compared to josh album anymore, especially if Alicia's album sells more in the future which i am confident Alicia will beat josh album in number of coies sold.

And in the case of Celine, Celine's album sales is not that bad though, but with a 1 year world tour, I'm also confident Celine's album will sell more than Alicia's and Josh albums. :yes:

Taking Chances nowhere in sight

I can't believe it!

Well, I think it's because there are no available "Taking Chances" album anymore in music stores 'cos it didn't sell well, like here in the philippines, particularly in the city i am in, i don't see "Taking Chances" album in most music stores. They would just say it's already out of stock but I think it's actually because they only ordered a few copies and when it's all sold, they don't reorder.

Ok, I did saw 2 music stores which has but only 1 "Taking chances" album displayed.

A reflection perhaps of what can happen when an album like TC carries no hit single and marketing sucks - a short-lived charts success. Let's just hope with the CBS Special on tap, TC could rebound...but, who knows, it might be kinda late by then...
