Celine on the Oprah show - November 12, 2007

The show was amazing! Celine looked amazing, sounded amazing, and she was AMAZING in general. Everytime she did a "fan surprise" me and my sister would start crying. Celine's such a sweetheart.

I'm just watching it again (LOVE my TiVo!!!) and it's funny that Oprah said she was there for the beginning of AND, but she didn't make any mention about being there for the end??? I wonder if she will be??

After the break, Celine and Oprah talked about Vegas, life after Vegas. They showed clips from what I THINK is the TC bonus disc. They then showed that cute redhead getting suprised (Im so jealous.. I've loved Celine longer than this girl has BEEN ALIVE) Anyway, shes adorable and they bring her on stage to meet Celine and she asks Celine to sing IDAN... she sang it live and very very well.. (Sidenote: it was a little creepy that Celine kept looking at the girl during it .. i mean the lyrics do involve a sexual rendevous... LOL!

Alright.. more clips from DVD... Rene Charles seeing show with Rene and family. He's cheering.. Then Celine sang BYLM to a family and a girl whose Dad died of cancer. She is singing beautifully BUT I hate that shes singing to a track... its so low budget...

 

Next... Celine announcing to the audience that her dad has passed...

wow great show!!! i love that shw takes the time to go and meet the girl who requested BYLM, when she told her that she lost her dad too. OMG, that was it for me. I had chills again.

 

Did anyone notice how she pointed at Rene in front row during Taking Chances, she probably does it all the time, but OMG that's sooooo sweet.

oh no i think she meant that she was having second thoughts about doing the show. but she had already signed the deal so she had to do it. but yeah she definetely was having 2nd thoughts and was afraid of not having enough time for her son.

Celine saw the footage of her announcing that her father had passed for the FIRST TIME. Oprah said that Rene provided this very personal footage (I am BALLING at this point). Celine also saw her perform 'What a Wonderful World' from that night. She's in tears and can barely sing at the end. Celine had never seen this footage either. She's in tears now. She tells Rene that he's gonna get it, waving her finger at him and smiling.

Nope, she made the deal to perform in vegas before getting pregnant.

They showed old clips when Oprah and her BFF Gayle were on a road trip and Gayle kept singing BYLM. Then Celine sang a super-short version of MHWGO for a dude. (I'm so jealous over this one..)

Anywho, I got all teary eyed with the winners of the contest. I had to hold back the waterworks when Celine sang "Because You Loved Me" to the girl who lost her dad. The song was important to her because her and dad would dance to it and it became "their song".

1st of all, thanks guys for writing those posts especially thecolourofmylove

2nd, i would love to see an Oprah & Celine show on Dec, 15th but it doesn't seem logical to have Celine Dion on the Oprah show twice during 1 month. & as u said, Oprah couldnt come.

 

i hope they showed also how Oprah react when she heard BYLM with Gayle singing it.

I think Oprah will be in Vegas for this date, but didn't want to tell Celine as she wanted it to be a surprise! I really think this is going to happen.

It's interesting that they did not at all mention the "new" musical direction of this album. Not a peep. They are really trying to please everybody...old fans that like the "cheesy" Celine and those who want her to evolve. I was expecting a commercial for the album around mid-show like all her other appearances on Oprah, but that never came (cheapos!) But we did get an advert for Alicia Keys!!! And it is indeed looking as though Alone will be the next single.

 

Not to be a pessimist but I really don't think this CD will sell very much. I does have some gems, but they will not be chosen as singles. TC, even though not my favourite had great radio potential. It's not dead yet but it will not be a top 40 hit. Neither will Alone or Eyes on Me.

 

Celine's career revival doesn't stand a chance as long as Vito Luprano and Angelil call the shots. As far as I know, Luprano is the one to always propose covers (Power of Love, All by Myself, and now Alone). Wake up, covers are dead in the water, especially bad ones compared to amazing originals!!!

 

My projections for sale in the US are not very high. She will get trounced by Alicia next week and should open with plus/minus 350,000 copies. the CD will do Ok throught the holidays and then dissapear off the map. Total US sales, a little under 1,000,000... Unless she has a huge radio smash a la We Belong together from Mimi but I am not holding my breath

Celine performed TC. It was fantastic until she got to the high notes... She kinda whimpered those. There isnt much time left and next is the audience suprise. I'm kinda miffed that they have NOT talked about the new album at all except to say that it comes out tomorrow.

That was the best Oprah special ever. Celine's voice rocked...very emotional show. I was getting extremely tearing watching her during the clip they showed of her performing the night her father died. I hope she sells hundreds of thousands of CDs tomorrow!

I had a friend TiVO it for me. This was the first Oprah I didn't get to watch live since her first one

 

I can't wait to see it tomorrow, though. Damn college educations getting in the way!

 

I think they rely on the fact that Celine is a very-well established artist and no longer needs to have a "hit" single to make it. It's just us fans that want them to go the extra mile, but they know that they have all of our money, which is all they're concerned about.

They showed ABSOLUTELY NO clips of the recording or any songs besides TC and Alone. I wish she would have done 'Woman in Me' but her voice wasn't up to it. That song would have fit Oprah PERFECTLY! They could have shown her recording it even!!!

 

Why Alone? Just the way the album is being promoted. As seen in promo stickers.."Featuring Taking Chances, Alone, Eyes On Me"
