NEW Single: Taking Chances 30 Seconds Preview Clip

I can't believe Teamceline has waited so long to post anything!

I wouldn't be surprised if all the messing around behind the scenes has meant they can't post anything and even if they did, a decent sized proportion of members still couldn't log in to listen. This new english album one of the most important events of the past few years so it's absolutely typical that they chose now to shake everything up and cause all these issues. Could they not have done all this a few of weeks ago and gotten everything running smoothly and made sure people can log in for the big upcoming events? It's not like the new single has surprised them, we've all known it was coming for months and months. And I can't believe that Amazon is showing the recording footage before the official fan club even posted anything. What exactly are we paying for because at the moment it seems to be bugger all.

let's not blame all day long TC. maybe they r facing some technical problem and i am sure that they are working to fix the problem. maybe after all this waiting, there's some surprises to TC fans.

I think it's a good song... I mean... It's got a catchy chorus. The more I listen to it, the more I'm in love with it. That's why I think it was well-chosen to be the first single... Of course I want the album to have a lot of wondeful songs, such as that one...

I work in I.T. and if a system is down or buggy, you notify the user. So the very least they could have done is post something in the 'Whats Going On' section letting us know there are technical difficulties and that its being resolved. As for the change in general, the intergration should have been planned better. I don't know who managed the project, but when you put a project plan together for something like this, you allow time for integration testing and bug resolution. The modifications should have taken place weeks ago.

However, on a rather more positive note () the 30 second extract we have heard is absolutely amazing!!!. Could Celine's voice sound any better? Just incredible. I dont think it's a huge departure for her, nor do I think it will "rock" the world but do you know what, I like it, and for me that's all that matters.

 

Now roll on Monday where we will see Celine in the studio performing the whole song. Where will that happen? The exclusive online fan club? Don't be silly - it happens over at the place where all the rumours are confirmed first - Amazon.com!!!

Seb, I totally agree with you. I think it's Celine's own choice. Just like releasing Goodbye's as a single. Or more recently, "Immensite". No wonder her family is in Immensite music video, and she had only sing this song live from D'elles album, not any other song.

 

It is funny to see that you guys are blaming all the bad single choises on Céline herself.

 

No this ain't a strong single material, I stated that back when I first heard the song by PW. But as for example Seb has pointed out it is not about the actual hit potential (or lack of it) of the song it is a STATEMENT. And it comes natural, just as natural as many of us felt that the title of the album should be Taking Chances way back, and was shocked when they announced The Woman In Me as a title. So we should accept it as a nessesary statement, coz that is what it is.

 

And frankly, many of you say they should choose a stronger track for the first single, I've said that myself before but according to Shai's review of the preview (damn how irritantly that rhymes) Taking Chances IS THE STRONGEST TRACK of the album. Now do what I did: feel sad about that for a minute or two then move on.

 

Lower your standards. All the hype about this album (first from anticipating fans then from the media) may have been blown over proportions. Accept it for what it is: a new English album from Céline which has a slightly more pop-rockish flavour to it.

 

We know Céline don't experiment that much in her English work so we need to take a chill pill and accept that it ain't gonna be a revolutionary album this time either.

 

Don't set up your expectations too high, you'll always be the disapointed one.

 

And about Team Celine, it's almost impossible to not get disapointed about them, so I sadly have no advice there but don't re-new your accounts coz you can't keep giving when you get nothing in return.

I dont think it's a huge departure for her, nor do I think it will "rock" the world but do you know what, I like it, and for me that's all that matters.

That's also another interesting point that may confuse potential buyers. She is not taking chances with this very single at all as she had this nice guitar sound to her English music all apparent. It hasn't been apparent to many of her casual fans, tho. Still I wouldn't rule out that some fans of other singers will tout the single as disappointment and "same old Céline" cuzz it's after all her vintage sound, no surprise here at all actually. And no departure, either like Shaun said!

 

But I still think it's the perfect single to introduce an album full of surprises (also RNB surprises) but as Céline is diplomatic in her nature she chose a MOD solution here. I see no evil here, either.

Let's not beat around the bush here, the song is nice and Celine sounds fabulous on the clip we have heard BUT I was more astounded when I heard "I Drove All Night" for the first time (and let's not forget that was a cover too). Why? Well simply put it was quite unlike anything Celine had ever recorded before and I was immediately surprised, interested and hooked on the song. Billboard I believe even said something along the lines of "the song Celine should've returned with last year" regarding "I Drove All Night."

 

Now with "Taking Chances" the interest is heighted purely because of it being Celine's first release in a number of years AND because of the ridiculous R&B rumours that have circulated. Instead we have what appears to be a VERY pleasant single by THE worlds premiere female artist and for me it works, it works very well. It just isn't a huge departure from anything she's previously done, and that isn't necessarily a negative point because she's got to where she is now by being consistent.

yeah seriously on a more positive note

anyway the song may not be as exciting or good to many of us because we've been practically been listening to the orginal for decades now, and my opinion one can never forget the orginal...so it's constantly messing with ones head...

on the other hand celine's little 30 sec. clip is even better than the original so i can imagine the whole song wil be rockin

I totally disagree with all above mentioned. Reading that review I got the impression that there's 3-4 very strong tracks, maybe even better than TC (Eyes on me, This time...pops in the mind now) but that of course depends on personal taste and we'll know for sure when we hear the album. There's no reason anyone should feel sad cause of anything. First, we don't know how many great songs there are on album cause we haven't heard it yet (even reading the review you got totally different impression than me and I'm sure alot of other fans, think how different it will be when we actually hear the songs), and second, TC is a great song and if it's strongest track there than I'm happy it's first single cause I LOVE the song.

 

And for the record, my expectations were very high and 'till now TC didn't dissapoint me one bit. I'm not trying to devaluate your opinion with all of this, just to show that there are lot of fans who thinks totally different than you and those who criticize TC as the first single.

I totally agree with you, Kian... That's a matter of taste... The most important point to consider is that we've only heard a 30s clip of Taking Chances and the next few days will indicate if the best is about to come... So, there's nothing to complain about yet. All we gotta do is to appreciate it...
