Frankly speaking, I don't care if it is or not single material, it is a quality song where Celine totally knows what she's singing and that is all that matters.The song means something to her, she wanted something different, she did it because it was only her decision.

It is not that important whether the song goes to no 1 or not.

What's really important, IMO, is that her fans should be pleased.And I find this song very radio friendly and very appealing.

I think it is going to do well.

Yeah, I agree with Seb. I think she chose this song in particular to be her first single because she wanted to make her statement.

 

About the cover thing, I personally dont care that she sang it similar to the original...I only pointed out that it sounds the same so maybe its safe to assume the rest of the song does as well. If you look at most of the songs she covers, they dont stray too far from the original.

Seb, I totally agree with you. I think it's Celine's own choice. Just like releasing Goodbye's as a single. Or more recently, "Immensite". No wonder her family is in Immensite music video, and she had only sing this song live from D'elles album, not any other song.

 

Exactly and I don't negate the possibility for the fans to lose themselves in the chaos of those expectations but it's always worthwhile to stop and think and see what Céline brought us. And perhaps appreciate.

so the whole world will not know the song...

Its a different Celine more rock great choice from HER as the first single!!!!

I don't agree with that. There were a lot of videos for this song on YouTube before we knew it was recorded by Celine. It was also featured on a show aired on MTV as well as the VH1 Platinum Wierd special. Thats one thing... The second thing is, as soon as Celine's version comes out it will only take a 1 second YouTube search to see that its a cover song.

 

In some ways it doesnt matter, but imo in some ways it does. People already give her enough flack for not writing her own music, and on top of that covering other people's song.... The world is different now then it was 10 years ago. The internet is so media saturated, so before you might not have ever heard or known of Jennifer's version of TPOL, nowadays its all so easily accessible. I know we discussed this cover thing to death before so I'm not going to harp on it. Either way, I love this song and she sounds freaking GREAT!!

well, personally, I knew about Platinum Wierd before Celine planned to sing this song,but I do not care if it is a cover.That's so not important.The message of the composition is all that counts and Celine delivers it perfectly.

Personally, I think this is a great choice for the first single. The song has everything and more to become a radio hit. It's rock. It's pop. and it's Celine.

I've played both version at the same time starting on PW at 2:00 they blend as a single song but there's something about Celine's (aside from her voice)...i mean....it's much more...."athmosferic" more "full" anyhow it's great love it can't wait for the full song
