if the album wont do well in the charts in its first weeks, well we can hope with the time, it can climb to number 1, like shania's album Come On Over in 1997. At first, it didnt do well in the charts but later... we all know what happen

It's a good song and will do well in the chart, not as good for 'a comeback' in music bussines but lot of people will hear it and buy it later, I think the album and this song will spens on top long time, meaby will be not n1 in USA, but will sell good. My number 1 countries on first week: Canada, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Greece, Japan, Finland, Dinmark, Taiwan.

Well Britney will start better than Celine but after a weeks will down.

this song is obviously as radio friendly as a song can be . having said that - it's NOT a step foward for celine...she is doing just what she did on OH - catchy tunes , pure pop . i dont know how some people here hear rock when they listen to those 30 sec - it's pure pop , like always

I don't agree with you of your first sentence...This is definitely rock here,ok pop-rock song,but with more effects of rock techically and it is sth new...How you can't see that....there's some change...in any way....just wondering how you didn't notice that!

But it's true when you say that it isn't breathtaking and that there's no risk with this single. Yep... I had hope that maybe she could change her first single for something with more impact. But she didn't, so now I don't wanna worrie about that anymore. I will just enjoy what she is trying to do.

You know what's even more funny?? When people say "i dont know how some people here hear rock when they listen to those 30 sec" and continue by saying "it's not breathtaking - not vocaly , not musicly , not lyricly". Clearly the 30 second clip isn't enough to give an actual critique of the song. But people should refrain critiquing the ones they don't agree with using the it's-only-a-30-second-clip excuse and in turn give a negative VOICE critique based on that same 30 second sound clip

Well Monica. As I said, I didn't want that song to be the first single, but it is. And I loved her version, her voice, her feelings. Amazing! But we all know exactly how the song is, because it's exactly as the original. I just can't see any risks about this single. It's too safe... But as I said, I don't care anymore. I will just enjoy what she is doing.

What we heard on that 30 sec clip is just like the PW version, and if you liked PW you'll like Celine's, and if you didn't like PW you might not like Celine's version except for of the fact it is Celine singing it. We didn't get any significant scoop guys, just a preview of not much importance. Listen to the whole song from PW and oyu'll see there's much more to the song than a 30 second chorus, and there's plenty of room for Celine to stand out vocally too.

You probably heard PW's version too many times (as I have), so you immediately noticed the differences (like Céline's pronounciations) and didn't like it (coz that happened to me)..

 

But....after hearing it a couple of times that stuff just faded away and now the song is just Céline's.

I think it's a given that when we use the term "rock" with Celine, we're not talking Megadeth or Metallica. It's a general term to signify the use of more guitar in her songs and a bit more heavy beat. That 30 second clip is better than any production on One Heart by far. I'm actually stunned at a lot of the reaction. I thought it would be very well received, because it doesn't sound like another song she's done. If anyone wants to give me an example to prove otherwise I'd be glad to hear it. The toughest critics of Celine (you know who you are) are not going to accept a whole lot at this point in her career. If this song isn't acceptable then there isn't a whole lot of choices for direction for her to go. Would you like Celine singing something in the line of Umbrella? Or maybe Jenny from the Block? What about Metallica's Master of Puppets? Would that be interesting enough for you? Maybe we could try Golddigger? I would be interested in hearing what might be a better form of song than Taking Chances. Celine isn't reinventing the wheel or anything, she's just doing things a bit different, and this song isn't just generic pop. It's not a ballad, but if it was then you'd complain that it was boring!

 

At the end of the day though, none of it matters. It's all a matter of opinion; the ones who don't like this song probably like a song that the rest of us don't and vice versa. We'll just have to wait for the album to come out and it can either go at the bottom of the trash can or the top of the cd stack.
