'Céline sur les plaines' concert for Québec's 400th anniversary, 8-22-2008

I have a small question regarding the HD files: VLC won't play the video properly. Media Player Home Cinema plays the video perfectly, but the sound is out of sync. Waaay out of sync. And that codec doesn't do anything. What should I do about it? I want to at least be able to watch the interview, which is not on the DVD version. Is it just my PC or am I missing some other codecs or something?

If you install ffdshow codec then you must also install the Mastroska Splitter @ http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/MatroskaSplitter.exe (I updated the instructions)

 

VLC is very resource intensive, the out of sync issues is probably due to your computer not fast enough. You may want to upgrade your graphics card or computer for smoother playback.

OK, thank you. I'll try this new thing, if it doesn't work, I'll just have to try to transform that file into a DVD file or something, to be able to watch it.

C'est depuis le Québec que nous donne rendez-vous Daniela Lumbroso pour le divertissement « Paris-Québec sous les étoiles », samedi 20 septembre à 20:50 sur France 2.

 

Ce concert événement a été enregistré depuis les plaines d’Abraham devant 100 000 personnes, pour célébrer en chansons, les 400 ans de la fondation de la ville de Québec. Daniela Lumbroso et Garou co-animent cette grande soirée qui réunit les plus grands artistes.

 

Des stars françaises et québécoises, pour des duos, des trios, des moments uniques et inédits. Céline fera bien sur partie de cette grande soirée. On peut s'attendre à voir quelques images du grand concert du 400ème.

J'ai visionné des extraits du spectacle de Québec et je regrète de ne pas y avoir été présent en personne. Ce que j'en ai vu jusqu'à présent est très touchant. Une fête de famille remplie de surprises, d'émotion et de générosité. J'ai hâte de voir l'intégralité du spectacle bien qu'il y manquera toujours la spontanéité du moment et l'électricité qui devait règner sur scène et en coulisse.

Wow, i was watching the "DVD" right now. It was an amazing concert. It was so emotional and I especially liked the ending and the song she did with her family. In my opinion, she had a bit too much make up and didn't look very natural, but well, it was a biiiiig occasion, so I understand. It would have been wonderful to be there. I smiled when Zachary Richard (it might have been somebody else) asked the audience who is jealous of him right now. Oooh yes, I would love to be once at that place to get hugged by Céline. The song "L'arbre est dans ses feuilles" is some kind of song I once sung with my friend. We sang it in German and translated it would be "What is hanging at the tree?" - "At the tree is a branch..." - "Branch at the tree, tree in the earth..." And so on, and you continue asking "What is on that branch?" and on and on. I listened several times to "L'arbre est dans ses feuilles", when I finally realised by watching that I know it more or less. First of all, a MASSIVE thank you to the forum for taking the time to create this amazing DVD for us all. It's really quite amazing and something we couldn't get anywhere else. The quality is stunning!

 

This concert honestly lit the spark in me that had gone out for Celine for the last while. Her performance, her voice, her spirit, her energy, her presence was phenomenal this evening. It's the concert of a lifetime and will always be one of her very best.

 

I thought she did a lot of amazing songs and did not hold back vocally like she has for so long. She gave these songs everything she had and sung everything completely live like it should be! This is probably the only time she's ever done such a thing and hopefully will not be the last. She seemed to have so much chemistry with each performer because she's very adaptable.

 

While I enjoyed every single song she did, there were some specific highlights:

 

Dans un Autre Monde was amazing. It's the best version she's done if you ask me (not that we've heard a lot of other versions). I love the arrangement and her vocals were completely spot on. There was no lazy singing whatsoever.

 

On ne Change Pas was also really special. I enjoy this song much more live and this was a great version. Her voice was the teensiest bit weak a few times, but it was still a really strong performance and light years ahead of that last duet version she did.

 

Tues Moi was STUNNING. I have never heard this song before and it's mesmerizing. The male voice is quite awful but it wasn't enough to distract me. I thought Celine's voice blended perfectly and her high notes were amazing. You can easily see the emotion coming from her towards the end as she sang. It was really beautiful.

 

L'arbre Est Dans Les Feuilles has become one of my favorite songs of the evening! I can't believe how much fun this song is! It's very catchy and the kind of song that gets in your head. I find myself humming it throughout the day. It also seems like a really difficult song lyrically to get right; I don't think she missed a single word! Funny how she can sing a song like this but messes up her easiest English songs despite singing them a million times! The two of them sounded fantastic together.

 

Si'l Suffisait D'aimer was completely flawless. One of her most understated, yet beautiful songs. I'll take any live version of this to the studio.

 

PQTME was also near perfection. I've been growing so tired of this song and haven't even been listening to it on the TC Tour, but due to the amazing energy she had the song came out amazingly. It renewed my love for the song!

 

Un Peu Plus Haut, Un Peu Plus Loin was magic! Her voice at the beginning was unbelievable. Her voice hardly ever sounded so strong. She had some killer high notes and the very ending with Ginette was exactly the kind of thing I want to see Celine do more often! She has this incredible voice and I want her to stretch the limits instead of the robotic and safe singing she's done so much of for the last 5 years.

 

Overall what a perfect evening! We are so lucky to have this concert to our collection! I wish this Celine would come out more often. I feel like it's the closest I've seen her come to the 90's Celine we all fell in love with. The voice was spectacular, the energy was spectacular, and her speeches were not scripted and routine. Thanks again forum! A true treasure to us that love her!

I find myself listening to "Promesse cassee" over and over again. There is something about that song. I don't know what they are saying but Celine's performance on that song was amazing! She was so intense, not just vocally but her physical presence as well!

 

I don't know Zachary Richards but he has a unique voice. It kind of reminds me of the Cajun from Louisiana (I GA RAWN TEE!)
