'Céline sur les plaines' concert for Québec's 400th anniversary, 8-22-2008

HEy everyone..just a side note about the concert...celines regular band and singers were not in this show, but it is interesting to note that her past percussion player..paul picard was playing percussion in the show! Has anyone else seen him in the show? I just thought that was very interesting.

 

Yes, I think many noticed it. Anyway I did for sure.

 

Other interesting facts : Apart from Paul Picard there were also two other former Céline band members from a long long time ago playing on stage that special night. Her former bass guitar player "Sylvain Bolduc" before Marc Langis and also her former guitar player before André Coutu "Pierre Dumont-Gauthier". They both had very long hair at the time. Sylvain you have to watch carefully to see him but during the "Destin" song when Céline says "SOLO", here comes Pierre. You see him very well and from time to time during the show. In Québec's music business, it's a small world and the best of the best we see in many special events. You can see those two guys in early vid like "Where does my heart beat now" or in Céline's first appearance on the Tonight show with Jay. I think they toured with Céline for Unison if I remember it well. But as many of you know she's been now with her actual band members for almost 20 years now. That's called loyalty!!

I just got my DVD and I'm LOVING it! :clap: Even though I don't speak French (very well) I enjoyed every minute of the DVD. I watched it as I was lying in bed (sick with food poisoning) but my spirits were lifted as I watched. It is definitely a must have!

The camera angles are so much better than the live broadcast. I hope for a Blu-ray release in the near future.

I have watched this concert three times in as many days, and I still cannot believe how good it is. To begin with, Céline is nothing short of magnificent. In her solos, duets and other numbers, her voice is in top form. And what a voice it continues to be!

 

Céline also brings a sense of meaning and pride to the occasion, the 400th anniversary of Québec, and there are many emotionally charged moments throughout the concert.

 

The quest stars are also wonderful, especially Zachary Richard and Claude Dubois (femme de rêve…). The finale with Jean-Pierre Ferland and Ginette Reno is unforgettable.

 

Beyond the music, I loved what Claude Dubois said about the Québécois resistance to assimilation to maintain its own identity. And thank you, Zachary Richard, for recognizing Céline for her generosity and support of the victims of the New Orleans Katrina disaster, and for her courage in saying what most people were afraid to say.

I just got my DVD, and its amazzzzing! Is it all live? It sounds like it, and she sounds great. Probably her best show all year.

The show is 100% live, and Celine proves she still has the most amazing voice! I would say this is the best concert she's ever done. I can't get enough of it.

I agree. Celine was heavily criticized for becoming emotional about the Katrina disaster on Larry King, but few people recognized that Celine said what needed to be said. What other public figure was so courageous? Yes, Celine was emotional and passionate, but emotion and passion far are better than indifference or numb acquiescence when lives are at stake. I appreciated that Zachary Richard said this as well.

We don't share it in DVD anymore, cause you can buy the official DVD. Seems your computer is too slow to playback HD videos.

 

Well, I'm not insisting on putting the files links back, but to tell you the truth I don't agree with you. You said you no more share this concert in DVD version here on the forum since it has had its official release as a DVD, but as far as I can remember the file for download on our forum was the recorded broadcast from TVA, so there's nothing wrong in it.

 

Could you please explain it?

 

I somewhat agree with Pol on this, Bellamy. Even though I have the HD videos, there are some who can't play them and then there are some who can't buy the official dvd as it isn't available worldwide. These are just my two cents though

It's been shared before, if some people missed the chance, it's a pity. BTW, we plan to take many many files offline later, so they better take their chances before it's too late.

I'm still downloading the files, I hope next week have all of them on my PC

 

I won’t buy the DVD because we have to pay many taxes for everything that we got outside of EU

 

last time when I got AWTBI for 33.00 € and I have to pay more 60€ extra for the tax

I have already finished to downloaded all the videos...and wow...was amazing...UNIQUE CONCERT...really really fantastique!

 

I have a question...can I record this on a dvd cd? it has a "weired" file extension (mkv) I have already downloaded the sofware to play it in my pc...but i would like to see it in my tv and show it to my mom and my sister as well...please i need some help here!...

 

I realy wish to have this on a dvd format because I dont think that here in mexico it would be sell... and buying this tru celinedion.com would be very expensive for me, because of taxes and shipment, with the risk of looses or damages

 

Im sorry im not an computer (PC) expert...
