tonybower Posted August 24, 2008 at 10:09 PM Posted August 24, 2008 at 10:09 PM Si dieu existe...! I am so glad this song was posted. I was beginning to think that maybe it hadn't been a duet and was a little disappointed... But there it is and I'm so happy! I am so glad they decided to sing it. Ever since I heard it at Ste Justine it has become one of my favourite songs. I am so jealous of all the people who were able to attend and it see it performed live right before them! I would probably give up all (or most) of my TC tour moments just to see that song live. Along with Le blues du businessman, of course! What a gem! And as for Lamour existe encore... Lapointe's voice is certainly harsh but I think I might actually like it... It certainly isn't meant to be partnered with Celine's vocals and so the duet is a definite mismatch, but I think it is interesting for that reason. I am so glad this concert happened... It just shows that Celine can still deliver! Celine sounded great at the start too which makes it even worse, she should have sang it alone. How can he even be called a singer?WowI actually like his version, it's the 3rd time he sing it.. He sang it a Celine's Special on La Fureur in 2002 and put it on his latest studio album. And he's the first and only male singer in Quebec to have sold 1 000 000 albums (Quebec only)Speaking about talent sells! Bravo!Well, his voice is definitely a "love it or hate it" kind of voice. Not everyone is used to hearing a gravelly , pavement-dragging kind of voice. I remember when I first heard Garou's voice I had a "WTF" moment. I grew to be tolerant of Garou's voice. Then, I heard Marc Dupre's voice, which is even more gravelly. LOL And now, when I hear Eric Lapointe's voice, it's like Garou's voice on steroids! Edited August 24, 2008 at 10:19 PM by Love, Quote

When she needs to harmonize, she's on point! When she needs to sing in unison (meaning you don't hear her above anyone else) she's on point! When she needed to be folksy, she was on point. When she needed to sound popish, she was on point. She is so versatile. She's like a musical chameleon! WHen singing with her brothers and sisters, she sound so young compared to the rest of them. I'm sure it has to do with the training she's had, but but I tell you, every time I hear her it's like a breath of fresh air! She's so rejuvenating. And the energy, no words can describe it. My gosh, I'm a fan for life!!!! I agree! You know another reason also why her voice sounds younger than her brothers and sisters, that's because she IS so much younger than all of them. The only ones close to her age are the twins Paul and Pauline that are at least 6 years older anyway. She's so great to adapt singing with other, I agree. She's even able to take parts of "le phrasé" of others if she wants, as she did with Zachary Richard for example.Another reason why she's so versatile and can adapt IMO is that, apart from being a great singer and musician and an experienced peformer, she sings with her hearts as you know, more so now then ever IMO and that's called generousity. She never wants to compete with others, she wants to share a great moment with others and want the others to have the opportunity to express themselves as much as her considering their capacity or limits. So usually she adapts according to the limits or strenght of the others and usually takes the hardess part to make the other look as good as her doing it all the way nevertheless as she wants and being happy with herself. Anyway, I didn't spend time analyzing this seriously but that's how I see it after reading your post. Quote
LVCeline Posted August 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM Posted August 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM My god, Celine let it RIP at the end of the duet with Ginette! Holy crap! It was incredible! Her voice was so amazing throughout this entire concert (save for very few moments). I could not have been more pleased! This Celine was so free and energetic. What a huge difference between this concert and all her touring concerts. It's amazing what happens when you let Celine go home and sing to her people! That duet of L'amour Existe Encore was one of the worst things I've ever heard. That guy officially has the worst voice I've heard in my entire life. It was just something out of this world. He got down on his knees for the sympathy vote because it sounded like he was having the life squeezed out of him through his rear end. It was just the most unpleasant sound I can recall hearing in a long time. How he has the honor of actually SINGING with Celine is beyond me. He isn't good enough to even be on the same continent as her, maybe even the same planet. Any member of this board could have done light years better than that singing with her. Quote

There are many men voices in Québec that people like that sound like them. You know guys Éric Lapointe is a Québec rocker...a REAL rocker that is most of the time in bed daytime, awake all night long and drinking and partying...and all that jazz, a REAL rocker...but who is beloved by so many here for being a true, honest and real guy who sings most of the time his real life with his soul. He recently recorded a version of Céline's "L'amour existe encore" his own way. For this show Céline said she didn't knew him that well and they surely don't have in common a similar lifestyle but that's what she wanted to do, like a black and white thing with him, not to say that many people in Québec see themselve in this guys. She invited him also years back to the televised show for "La fureur de Céline" at Molson Center at the time. Éric is one of the biggest cd seller in Québec, a lot of man like him and as you may know many woman like bums, in his case a good bum I think. I know he thinks the world of Céline and I know Céline has respect for artists in general but she wants to be with people who are true around her usually. Not to say that he's a star beloved by Québec's people. Quote

This song is kind of what we call here "un rigodon"(Québec folk music to dance to). I guess it reminded Céline of family and friends. Anyway this song was a big hit here. And in this song somewhere they talk about a generation having fourteen kids...and Céline said to them joking "you should tell people that yours song was about my family" because of the part singing about the 14 kids. Anyway I think all the people Céline(and René) chose to sing with her were motivated by whom and what Céline liked that would also please people of Québec to celebrate our 400e anniversary. I think that her choices were perfect, appropriated and so appreciated by most of the province who had the chance to be there or watch it on TV. Critics were outstanding and Céline is still the talk of the town. Quote

L'amour Existe Encore- Beautiful song- However, duet- Not so beautiful- I understand why they chose Eric Lapointe- To get that "rocker" edge to the song in order to contrast Celine- And I truly believe he OVER SANG the song- He should take a lesson from Celine and not steal the limelight when you are in the presence of GREATNESS- BTW, What bar from the lower city did he stumble out of? littlegizmo Posted August 25, 2008 at 05:04 AM Posted August 25, 2008 at 05:04 AM hi, i dont usually write here... but all i have to say is... many people dont get that it was not TAKING CHANCES TOUR.... I saw it last week in Montreal.. great show but the audience was the WORST EVER... they didnt applaud and didnt stand up and even left during my heart will go on... WHY??? cause they got free tickets from big cie etc.. THIS WAS A UNIQUE SHOW... she did "je sais pas" last week... so who cares cause TONIGHT WAS AMAZING and SO MOVING.... the duo with ginette reno I CANT WAIT TO GET IT ON A CD... its Quebec city 400th anniversary so she sang with all the best and people complaining just dont speak French or dont know these artists... I dont usually listen to French songs (even if my first language is French) BUT IT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT... 266 000 people = biggest show she ever did live... At the end dont ask her to have a bigger voice with ginette reno... she was so moved and she couldnt sing cause ginette had to sing cause you can clearly see that she was crying and this song is so powerful... love it or leave it but dont compare it to the taking chances tour... it was as good as a new day in vegas... it was (a good day was all her hits in English) and this one was her FRENCH NIGHT...I'm so happy i saw both ccncerts and taking chances (even if MONTREAL YOU SUCK for what you did to her last week lol ... i hate rich people not enjoying their night or having crossed fingers...) security even told us to sit down after all by myself cause old people behind us couldnt stand up their big #ss lol sorry but if you cant stand up during a show ... well just watch a dvd or tv and get the f out of here lol so vegas and last Friday will always be 2 beautiful nights in my mind... I cant believe I've been part of it... I'll watch the pay per view dvd tomorrow... yep I have a dvd tv burner ...but now everything in my mind = perfect 400th quebec anniversary concert good night!!! I loved the concert. There were many songs I was looking forward to listen live for a very long time. I specially love the duet with Ginette Reno and "Tue-moi". I was hoping Céline would sing OSAAC, but she didn't... But I don't care. I don't particularly like the song with the Dion family but I agree it must have been a very emotional moment for Céline. And I do think she should have sang "L'amour Existe Encore" alone... lol It would be also great to listen to "Quand on n'a que l'amour" or "L'Envie D'aimer" with Daniel Levi. That performance with her family was so strange! It's odd the way she seems so out of place in that bunch. She's so much younger and more glamorous than all of them. I just could not imagine what it would be like to be a sibling to Celine. This concert was more amazing than I hoped, and I can't wait to have it on DVD!
