That is a revelation that, if true, is just utterly stunning.

 

Celine Dion is the world's biggest selling female artist and Sony are reducing her releases to selected countries only? Since she joined Sony ALL of her albums have been released everywhere without exception. This is harking back to the early days when only Canada and France got her new releases.

 

I am utterly disgusted with Sony if this turns out to be true. Years and years of being a fan and countless amounts of money spent on Celine's music and then they choose to slap the fans in the face and severly limit where her material is released. Truly shocking!

 

Will her English album in quarter 4 only be released in English speaking territories? I doubt it.

Then again I would be seriously questioning the reasoning behind a so called "strategic" decision of Sony's CEO in Europe as we already know that they would be doing absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER to promote it. They'd just release it and even profit from small but steady sales.

I contacted SonyBMG Finland and asked about the upcoming album. They have replied me before so I really hope they will reply this time and prove the "news" either right or wrong.

 

If it's true that Sony is cutting Finland out, I'll surely be mad for a while but thank god we have online stores.

The upcoming Celine Dion album is going to be released ONLY in French speaking countries, this is not what we first thought and informed. The decission is made by the president of SonyBMG Europe and there's nothing we can do. Celine's English album is coming out in the Fall and it will be one of our biggest releases.

Yes, that's exactly what they said here too. They first intended to properly release it, but later on it was decided from the powers that be, to only have a proper release in French speaking countries only.

 

Though they will *release* the album in other counties (we will definately see it in stores here), but they will get the them from France, etc.

 

Yeah but he or she was clearly wrong. Poland gets the full package on 18th of May.

 

Then Poland may be an exception or it might have changed there too (the change is recent)..

In Poland there's almost no promo from Sony but they are still mentioning her name on the radio and the fact that she'll have an album out in may so I suppose nothing's changed.

Don't forget they've also got a budget to hold on to. I reckon big stuff will happen for Céline's English album.. and I kinda understand they're prefer to save their budget and concentrate on that release (instead of a "French album")..

but does anyone got news info for Australia and NZ???

i hope they do release it here...
