I also think it’s possible that with the months of November- April open,  we could see another series in Canada or elsewhere in between Paris stops.

Doesn't she need to rest ?

One would assume but first it was 10 shows, twice a week. Then it was 16 shows, 3x a week.

now it’s 26 shows.. so apparently not. 🤷🏽‍♂️

i’m going to the 2nd concert on September 16th. Are we going to have a section in the forum for each show like we used to do?

Yeah Céline has completely blown every assumption about this disease out of the water. People thought she wouldn’t perform on consecutive nights, schedule shows far in advance, withstand loud noises and bright lights, run around, wear heels, or even perform at all. And yet she has done or is committing to doing all of it. It’s really as if there is nothing unusual with her health at all. The message she is clearly sending is that she will not “adapt” to the disease like some people were saying but rather overcome it completely and not give an inch. And, to be fair, she was saying it even two years ago: “it did not take anything away from me” and “I will not learn to embrace a new voice, I will rebuild my voice”. And now what? People are saying she will adjust her songs or lipsync more? Watch her slay them live. People are saying she’ll only do residencies and never tour again? Watch her go on a world tour. She will do it—if anything just to prove her point.

And when you think about it, everything is aligned with this message: the fact that she chose the highest key she’s every sung the song in for “Hymne à l’amour”, the fact that she keeps saying things like “I’ll sing TPOL will all my strength”, the fact that she may have had cosmetic work done to look better than she has in years. It’s all pushing one clear message.

Playback a lot… was there when she was “healthy”… I think we can assume her “condition” has been practically dormant…

if she still is experiencing spasms even rarely and they committed to 26 shows then they are either reckless, stupid or both.

Just caught up on the last few pages…😂🫢

Her ‘management’- Glastry Management are beyond shite and should be bombarded with questions as to what the hell they are doing

She’s been doing that since 1994, so really it’s about the least surprising thing she could do.

Honestly it’s probably the reason we have seen her in the studio lately. I’m sure new playbacks are being recorded.

She’s also got an album (or two) that she’s working on…

Yeah I know. She can do both.

I’d rather that than see her retire.

I honestly don’t give a f if she playbacks or not. If she does, that’s okay. My only concern is her health. To keep adding shows without much rest time reminds me of (god forbid) the MJ situation.

As it stands, there is 7 months between legs of the Paris shows. And unlike the MJ situation, Celine has always been surrounded exclusively by people who truly do put her and her health first, and considering her own fears and concerns, especially about potentially leaving her kids without a mother (her words), I sincerely doubt she would at this point sign on for something she can’t do.

People are always fantasizing about what her voice sounds like now. What would it be like? Where is it at today? Well, we actually have the answer, whether people like it or not. We have an almost genuine recent live performance — during her tribute appearance in Quebec.

So, has she rebuilt her voice? Yes and no.

It also seems that the symptoms and spasms of SPS can be managed to some extent, but the rigidity of the muscles that support the vocal cords is much more problematic, and recovery is often very difficult. That’s why the voice is one of the areas most affected by the condition.

People here are seriously moaning and groaning about a French-speaking singer having a residency in Paris, France? Am I reading this right? Yeah. My idiots comment from earlier was definitely spot on.

I love the condescension. But believe it or not, French is spoken outside of France too. We’re 'groaning' because it’s her second residency in a row in Paris. Groundbreaking variety there, truly.

As opposed to what though? Her 345th leg of a 3rd Vegas show?

And to be honest, a return gig like this was never gonna be as limited as was initially announced. As I said before, there’s a very high chance there was an exclusivity contract signed for a period of time.

The part that surprises me is that it’s actually May and not Feb or March. I assumed that after the holidays she’d gear back in and then the fall  of 2027 would be open for something else. 👀

As opposed to her home province, maybe? Vegas is definitely not a 'French-speaking' market. The fact that her team doesn't even seem to consider her roots for a major return show just proves they are solely focused on maximizing profits and prioritizing money over everything else.

Or- again- the almost certain likelihood of an exclusivity contract. Aside from the fact that of course her return would pull in huge numbers, no city or venue was going to enter a hundreds-of-millions bidding war with the expectation of anything less than at least a period of exclusivity, otherwise what’s the draw in going there in the first place? Same thing applied to Vegas.

You have the process completely backward. Venues like Paris La Défense Arena don’t start hundred-million-dollar bidding wars to buy artists. The artist’s management and global promoters (like Live Nation) hold all the cards, they choose the markets, design the tour, and lease the venues. If there is an exclusivity contract with that specific arena, it’s because her team chose to sign it there to maximize revenue. They could have easily chosen to negotiate an exclusive comeback residency with a major venue at home instead. A venue exclusivity contract is a reflection of management's financial strategy, not an excuse for why they skipped her roots.

For someone who is being so condescending you really aren’t as clued up as you pretend to be.

it’s already been established that her team and Live Nation put out feelers for various offers from specific venues and cities to host her comeback concert series, as can be referred to here: https://www.parismatch.com/People/dates-de-concert-reservations-de-billets-preparation-dans-les-coulisses-du-grand-retour-de-celine-dion-266427

They analysed and discussed specific locations, and venue offers based on logistics and what local producers were able to offer.

No venue, nor promoter, or even her own people at Live Nation would be silly enough to bank on an exclusive concert series to mark her return to the stage without an exclusivity contract in place to ensure they were able to make that announcement, this isn’t a case of Celines team holding all the cards besides being able to choose where she did it; this is basic business as it pertains to the music industry. She wasn’t allowed to perform full concerts *anywhere* during the first Vegas run, and in the secondary had to negotiate in order to do Une Seule Fois, and then further discussions had to take place for her later mini tours which could not occur within the same continent. This isn’t simply a decision made by *her* team to maximise *their* profits, but a decision largely made by the promoters, both international and local, and the venues/ companies themselves for *their* benefit.

With all that being said, there is also the rather obvious distinction of all the proposed/offered locations vs having the return being in Montreal; it is not a worldwide hub destination, nor does it at present have anywhere near the logistical networks or infrastructure in place to host something on this scale. The other locations considered before Paris was settled on were large international gateways for entertainment and travel, and have these sorts of facilities built into them. Montreal does not.

To top it all off, the only venue that would possibly work, the Bell Centre, needs to be constantly available for various other concerts and, most importantly, sporting events throughout the entire calendar year. It is simply not feasible.

However, France is the most visited country in the world...  As much as I love the province of Québec, the numbers just don't add up
