"Love Again": Original Soundtrack - Official Topic

I don't know why, But "Waiting On You" it's like a dance song :innocent:

Maybe "The alias of electronic musician and producer Sean Fischer, French Braids makes soulful, thought-provoking electronic music inspired by classic house, modern pop, and traditional Jazz and RnB."

It's already known that love of my life is a new song, not a queen cover. Stephen Moccio (writer of a new day has come and courage) wrote the song

There goes that idea. Sorry.

^ Are those songs from the Courage sessions? And the only newly recorded song is Love Again?

This crossed my mind too. My thinking now is that they were recorded at different times. Hate to think LA was first (maybe end summer / start autumn) and that she felt worse a few months later for the French song.

4 months until the tour is due to resume. I don't care about the tour but I hope we get an update soon. Hoping if there was a video for the last one they'll do another video. Now we know the issue she might prefer to update via video as opposed to the usual text document.

Are we sure she was supposed to rerecord the La mémoire d'Abraham? Maybe it was planned from the very beginning to include the alternative take from the D'eux sessions?

It is very likely

Oh God. Courage-era song. These are going to be sleep-inducing tracks that go nowhere if that's the case. The thought of the Courage era moving forward - which has been a cursed era - is not exciting. Edited by Alex_Incognito

Still thinking these aren’t necessarily courage leftovers or if they are, the reason they didn’t make the courage album is because they are vastly different.

Somehow I feel like the songs that ended up on the Courage album in 2019 were the leftovers, and the rest that is yet to be released are the gems. They wanted to get rid of the mediocre songs first and then use the rest with higher quality for a second album that would celebrate her Resorts World comeback. Even Celine herself said that she really hopes that the songwriters allow her to keep the rest that is yet unreleased becasue the songs are so good. Edited by ryba

I'm really exited for "I'll be" and "Waiting On You".... one with an indie electro musician, and the other with not one but four heavyweights behind some of the most popular songs on the charts

I really love this guy process

he was also part of this song

Wow. Courage is so divisive. Like there's no middle ground. People either love it or hate it. I personally love it. I like everything about it, except the vocals in certain parts.

Just wondering - how would you guys feel if Celine recorded an album with this kind of sound?

That’s the downfall for me the bedroom voice, “Love Again” is more traditional Celine, I hope the rest are too.

I'm pretty much in the middle when it comes to Courage.

Pros:

I love how it's the first English album that Celine put together entirely by herself, without Rene. It makes the whole album feel more special.

I like how the lyrics are more mature compared to her previous English albums.

She looks beautiful on the album cover.

There are some strong songs.

Cons:

I don't like the tracklist order.... if the songs were rearranged, it would've been much better.

Her vocals are way too casual and muffled. It's just not what people want from Céline Dion.

It would have been so much stronger if she sang a few more songs with more of her classic sound. And replace a couple of the songs with stronger material... like her amazing cover of Wicked Game.

I like certain songs, especially the bonus tracks! They are really awesome. I will never understand why they were not officially released as singles. Heart of Glass is massive, but her pronunciation kind of destroys it. The Hard Way or Boundries on the other hand are impeccable. FOMO had potential, but the whole song sounds extremely cheap. It should have been produced by Guetta the way he produced When life takes over. Lying Down was an experiment from Guetta and Sia and also sounds like an experiment, a leftover that was handed to Celine. I expected much more from them. Baby was also a big letdown, a pure filler, repetitive and boring. It’s a shame that the best people in the industry handed her only their leftovers. Sony needs to insure that she receives hit material again. Edited by ryba

The Hard Way is one of my favorites on the album. Closest to classic Celine.

I think only Lovers Nevers die, lying down, imperfections, courage, the chase, the hard way, boundaries, best of all and Heart of glass were ok. I would have had added Ashes and Recovering, and maybe The voice studio version and i would have a stronger album to my eyes. I never listen to the other tracks

I think Celine needs to change the way she pick songs up. Receiving material and pick through them was something that worked when she was a best selling artist. Songwriters will always give their best materials to the ones who sells more. At this point, she will mostly every time get the leftovers. She needs to assemble a group of songwriters (those camps some artists does), talk to them about what she is feeling, tell them what she wants to talk about and make them do songs specifically to her.

But that costs money and, well, as we can see, Sony isn’t investing much on Celine anymore (we can’t even get a damn concert release).

In that case, I think you’re overlooking some pretty solid tracks:

• “Look at Us Now” is probably the most radio-friendly song, after “Imperfections”, and her vocal runs and melismata are absolute fire.

• “I Will Be Stronger” has strong lyrics that Céline clearly connected to (enough to sing the first line in Carpool Karaoke) - plus I love the arrangement and background vocals, as they are very mature and understated. Feels very gospel-y.

• “Perfect Goodbye” is easily one of the most experimental tracks on the album by Céline’s standards.

• And contrary to popular opinion on this forum, I think “Baby” has very deep & mature lyrics—even if the chorus is simple— because they deal with death denial/avoidance of loss (at least by her interpretation). She just wants things to return to the way they were before she lost René, even if she knows it’s not possible. She would rather live in this imaginary world where they’re still together than deal with the reality of pain. How anyone sees that as shallow is a mystery to me!

I know I’ve said it before, but I think there are several strong songs in the album, but the biggest error is the tracklist itself. Should’ve been cut into two albums or double discs.

Proof that René had an amazing ear.

He was losing his touch. Taking Chances was objectively a mixed bag of an album that did not stand to the "edgy" marketing and he had no pragmatic plan whatsoever for LMBTL. He initially wanted half songs to be old covers. 🥴 He then changed that to an extent only and we got an album that feels like an unfinished project. The intro of Overjoyed is like a time capsule to the past. 😝

It seems that somehow he has heard the song and I would really like to know more about it

In the meantime he has shared some tidbits

there's no real chorus, mid-tempo, no belting or crazy vocals.

"Only love is the gift, it's the energy, the air we breathe, only love only love only love only love is the gift"

« Do you Believe in life after love » multiple times with a vocoder at the end of the song on its instrumental

and the assertion that this song is indeed from the Courage sessions
