I am reading, after a long pause, the following pages of discussion in the thread "Céline has SPS" and at times I rub my eyes in surprise. It seems that some people still do not accept what the title of this thread really means.

  1. "Is it possible that one day you are dancing and another day you have uncontrolled muscle spasms?" - this is what journalists have asked SPS patients, including Kylie Allen-Kulyk (who just achieved remission after years, hallelujah!). The answer is yes, in this disease it is possible. Except that after many years of being sick, your muscles, even on their better days, will no longer be flexible and your movements smooth - but Céline is at the beginning of her journey. She probably has many more improvements and deteriorations ahead of her.
  2. After the famous meeting in the hockey players' locker room, Chantal Machabée said in an interview: "I know she has good days and not so good days, but this was a very good day". How did she "know"? Wasn't it from Céline herself?
  3. What did the famous Claudette actually say? That her sister "works hard, but has no control over her muscles." Which could mean no more than "she still has attacks of uncontrolled contractions." But in the English translation, the simple statement "she has no control" was turned into the dramatic "she has lost control," and the "news" circulated the world, suggesting a radical deterioration.
  4. Does anyone really believe that Céline's entourage can't discipline the talkative Claudette? Her family knows her as a spotlight addict better than we do. I suspect that Claudette only hears during phone calls between Montreal and Henderson what she can then repeat in public. She has repeatedly said over the years that there is nothing serious going on with her sister and then that "she's strong, works hard and thinks positively," so "she'll definitely beat the disease." Since this summer, however, she has begun to come out of denial and slowly adapt to the new situation - and yes, the world media usually dramatically color her every statement, but thanks to her, the number of "anonymous Céline’s insiders" statements that dominated the tabloids since 2021 has dropped. Over Claudette's informal updates, Henderson headquarters at least has some control...
  5. Out of 365 days of deafening silence, we know of two very good days. And not surprisingly, Céline makes public her best moments, not her worst. But that doesn't mean she doesn't experience those bad days. We know what they look like thanks to the testimonies of other patients. When you have a better day, you spend it with your children. What would she say in this highly anticipated video? "I don't know what will happen. At times I'm hopeful, and at times I'm afraid. I live in uncertainty about what's next for my life"? - that's not her style. We know very well that she would prefer to say "I feel good, it's getting better, I hope to return to the stage soon." But she doesn't say that. It's probably not hard to guess why.
  6. The title of this thread is " Céline has SPS." SPS is a chronic and incurable disease, cruel and disabling, with serious physical and psychological consequences. Fortunately, hope for remission is real (although remissions in SPS usually happen after many years of illness). She probably still has a long way to go, with dozens of improvements and deteriorations, but, as a forum Jedi says, "the last word will be Céline's": time will tell whether it will be a word of temporary return to the spotlight, a word of temporary withdrawal from public life, or a word of necessary postponement of the decision. This is one of those prophecies that always comes true.

Sadly, it seems we are in for a long period of absence again. I was glad to see Celine again a few months ago out and about, hopefully this doesn’t mean she’s had a setback. I really hope I’m wrong and we see her soon.

A short anecdote about how "news" is made in tabloid media: since yesterday, a growing number of Polish tabloids have been repeating the titles: "Celine Dion is no longer able to sit on her own!"

 

Where is the source of such dramatic news? - Well, the tabloid "OK Magazine" put in the title of its article an alleged statement of some insider "Celine Dion isn't sitting around moping". One Polish tabloid journalist (or his poor automatic translator) translated it as "Celine Dion isn't sitting (can't sit) but she's not feeling sorry for herself," and more media outlets are repeating this nonsense in headlines...

Have you guys also seen the Facebook posts that she has been forced to retire, and that she’s 61? It’s sad how many people are actually falling for those lies.

Sadly, it seems we are in for a long period of absence again. I was glad to see Celine again a few months ago out and about, hopefully this doesn’t mean she’s had a setback. I really hope I’m wrong and we see her soon.

 

Yea that is what has been worrying me as well, & I am sure the rest of the fanbase, since those 2 events happening in October/November (which has now been more than 2 months ago, the holidays have already passed & its mid-January 2024 now,) there has been complete silence from her team! There have been zero posts from them since then, & they did not even post a 'Merry Christmas' message, or a 'Happy New Years' message for this year, which is highly unusual for them!

 

I am really not hoping that it is true, but I do wonder if there was a really bad setback after those 2 appearances, & maybe Celine is immobile, or even hospitalized currently, & obviously she does not want anybody to know about it, which is what could possibly the silence and lack of social media posts.

 

I know there are a bunch of fans who truly believe that Celine is "making a comeback in Vegas" & "is working on a new album", & all of the other hopeful rumors going rounds on social media since after her 2 recent appearances... But with all of this silence from her & from her Team, (& also those articles that came out right before Christmas after the interview with her sister Claudette, now we all know Claudette is not always 100% about everything when it comes to Celine... But those articles were all over social media & the news for several days going viral, & Celines Team has remained silent all this time even with all the news reporting about her health,) it does make things look really bad right now.

 

Like the rest of you, I really do hope she makes a comeback (especially while I am still living, as I Have never got the chance to see her in concert yet!) But unfortunately, between the never-ending silence, coupled with all those scary bad-health articles recently with no rebuttal from Celine or her Team, I very much doubt there is a comeback on the horizon, & I am afraid, like you said 'NMJ', there might have a major health setback that has happened & we just do not know about it yet. Poor Celine, Im praying for her so much.

Exactly! I miss Celine too... I know there are some fans who are saying on social media that Celine is going to make a "big comeback really soon" in Vegas, that "a new album is on the way", a "Netflix documentary is on its way", etc... & pretty much everything have been rumors, as we have had nothing but silence from Celine & her Team for months. As much as I wish for a comeback like everyone else does, it looks highly unlikely judging by the complete silence on Celine's end, even during the holidays we have heard nothing, not even a "Merry Christmas" message this year! :( :(

Exactly! Some of the fans think she is just getting over a cold or the flu or something lol... I wish it was just that! (Even though yes having a cold or the flu can be a pian in the butt, but that is nothing compared to the disability that Celine has to now deal with, & it can not be cured, which the flu & common cold can be cured!

Amen!! Same goes for to predict when she will announce her Vegas show, or when in 2024 those shows will happen by looking at RW agenda.

She shows up 1 time dancing at a shows and everyone is already looking for plane tickets :sofunny:

 

And having a fan who shows up once in a while with cryptic messages that happen to be 'true' doesn't mean he knows it all. Could easily be coincidence.

If you tell long enough that a new album will be out, it eventually will. Someday.

Yes I am very shocked too reading posts all over social media & this forum after those 2 appearances from Celine, then the posts started:

 

"OMGGGGG Celine is coming back to Vegas, I better buy plane tickets & hotel tickets soon!" (but still NO announcements!)

"OMGGGGG Celine is going to make an announcement any day now, on this particular week, or that particular week, in the month of November, or in December, or in January!" (& yet here we are in mid-January & still NO announcements!)

 

& now it is complete silence from Team Celine, & it looks like there are not going to be any "announcements" from Celine anytime soon, & it looks like 2024 will end up being just like the past 3 years (which people on social media start rumors of "Omgggg Celine is gonna make a huuuuge comeback this year, blah blah blah" & almost everybody else believes it & spreads it around, then by the time 2025 comes, there is still no comeback & its the same ole story... Yes I do wish to be proven wrong & Celine does make a comeback... But realistically, it looks like those 2 appearances were just "good days" for Celine, & any "comebacks" are not on the horizon as she is not physicaly ready (& have a few good health days might not mean that she is ready to come back to performing or is even able to sing again, as we have not heard her singing since over 3 years ago, & come on folks, what she gonna do, pull a "Milli Vanilli" from back in the 80s & start to "lip sync" all her shows? **Shudders** **Chills**

I do apologize if my previous post is "making fun" of anybody's posts on this forum, or on social media, the posts I was kind of quoting about "Celine's comeback & booking plane tickets" & stuff. I am not trying to be mean, I was just agreeing with the member I was replying to about the extremes of some people's logic after Celine made 2 small appearances, thinking that Celine was all of a sudden going to make an announcement of a comeback, (& almost 3 months later, there still have been no announcements from Team Celine, & there have been no posts on her social media page whatsoever!)

 

I was just commenting how unrealistic some fans are being. & sorry but I am one of those people who are realistic (especially as years of working in a hospital & seeing & hearing so many things when it comes to health issues such as what Celine is going through right now.) Yes I wish & pray almost everyday for a miracle too, but unfortunately a person's health can be very fragile & not easy to predict.

Yes, I hear you (I mean I do not REALLY REALLY hear you but you get the point mean to say I understand what YOU are saying and where YOU are coming from). We all anticipate Celine would make her comeback and instead of that other people make their comebacks in this forum for instance (if you can get what I'm saying). Like when you expect money and life gives you s*** (you GET the picture I'm sure, nasty as IT IS). But you have a point (not that you're holding it or anything) but it's THERE I'd say, we probably attached so much meaning to these two appearances she made (not that there's ANYTHING wrong we being positive and hoping for the BEST) but you get me, girlfriend, when you hope for the BEST then you might end getting disappointed so it's best not to get the hopes high (NOT TOO HIGH at least, reasonably HIGH). Just the RIGHT amount of height... but at the end of the day it's all ok cause who knows what might happens, there's a mystery (NOT saying that's always good), but why not? Maybe 2024 is going to be super, maybe NOT. Celine has given us so much (not literally, figuratively) that we CAN wait more and we WILL wait more...!
