"I Am: Celine Dion" documentary - Official Topic

P.S. And I see the media is pushing this as a “new album” 🙄

Next time there actually IS a new album no one will notice/ care, given Team Celine’s track record of “new” albums that prove to be yet another rehash of the same content they’ve been trying to sell us over and over again for 30 years.

It’s so frustrating, given the amount of unreleased material Sony is sitting on.

Now that Celine has slowly been stepping back into the public eye, it would very odd for her not to take part in any promotion… yet somehow I have the feeling this documentaries release date will come and go with barely any mention from Celine or acknowledgement.

It doesn't look promising at all now at the moment.

When she appeared at The Grammy we had such hope.

But with everything happening now it doesn't look promising.

Feel like Sony and Amazon are messing it up big time.

A lot of people tagged her 13-year-old son into that instagram post complaining. Celine fans have no chill or shame.

I think Amazon would love to do something more but they aren’t receiving any guidance or participation from Celine and teamCeline. Look how they promoted JLO on their platform and Celine is a bigger intentional name. It’s Celine who I bet doesn’t want to promote or do anything else more to ensure the success. I think this why they call it a “gift to the fans” I think it means they don’t expect it to be anything more and don’t care if anyone BUT the fans watch it.

Guys the documentary isn't out until a full month! Have a bit of faith! Luuuurve! TRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUST!!!

I don't follow JLO, so I have no idea when the 'promo' started, how and when. But the doc/movie was released on Feb 13, 2024. The trailer was released only a month before! On January 17th! So it doesn't seem like Amazon's promo on Céline's doc is running behind.

But judging by this one star review on iMDB, they shouldn't have bothered with this JLo movie in the first place! I am sure Céline's one will be much more emotional and cohesive.

I'm sorry Jlo. I took a 3mins out of my day to say, this movie is not it. The movie was just too all over the place. The musical is not necessary. This would be better as simply a movie without the singing. I was extremely confused with the metal heart and dancing.

I kinda understand the documentary a little bit. I do find your story very enjoyable but the film was confusing and scattered. I got to learn more about Jlo but this was a terrible film. Whoever directed it. I'm just shocked they actually aired this.

I can tell this was a unique creative vision. But the vision is not visioning. Whoever allowed this to be released should be ashamed.

Yes but WHEN did the promo start?? In 2023? In 2022? In February 2024?? rolleyes.gif People nowadays have a worse memory than a goldfish! If they start to promote a doc now that isn't even on Amazon yet, no one will remember it by the end of June!

I’m making an assumption that Celine will not do much promo if any at all.

She’d have to do something she can’t just hide away with a documentary like this coming out.

Let's hope, that she will give an interview on GMA in June. They always support and report about Celine and SPS.

I’m in NYC the week of the doc release and I’m staying a block away from the hotel she stayed in earlier this year so if she’s there for promo then, I’m cancelling all my excursions lol

I would love to have some bigger one on one in depth interview than these small reports they do with Celine.

I’d be shocked if Oprah hasn’t already secured a sit-down considering their history/friendship/meet-up earlier this year.

That would be awesome, but I'm afraid the chances are more that it just will be a 10 minute segment where 7,5 minute is a recap of her career and rene, and the other 2,5 minute will be about the docu.

I suppose there will be no interviews or promo appearances at all. They will just make one post on her socials that the docu is now available for streaming. That will be it

It’s all so weird. Céline is fighting everyday to be able to continue her career, and she finally seems more passionate and committed to her career than at any point since 2000. She’s doing all the hard work with tremendous perseverance and yet when it comes to these small things she could do that require zero effort on her part… she does nothing. What is going on?!

Celine doesn't owe anyone a huge interview or a whole promo tour regarding her health issues though. If she wants to give an interview okay but some people acting like it's expected/ she has to and it's a little weird?

Already giving the documentary which will for sure be talking about her sps is enough...

Gosh you can tell Céline has been out for a while lol…

It’s Faith! Trust! LUUUUURVE!

That should be more natural to us than breathing.

Is Oprah still relevant today as in late 90s/early 00s?

No.

But she’s still revered for exclusive sit down interviews.

SPS aside, it’s how the business works. That’s what you do as part of your job as an artist. SPS considered, if Céline is able to do all the things she is seen doing, she is definitely able to do promo in great capacity. Does she owe it to anyone? No. Is it expected? Definitely. We care, that’s why.

If she is able to do all these things, yes she is able to sit down or attend a premiere but the point is about the expectation of her doing a promo tour as if she has a new album out and not having to talk about sensitive and private health matters on those interviews. Yes, we care for her but we are not owed further explanations and updates than what she's willing to give herself. If she does want to , I, like all fans will be there to listen, but the expectation that she has to promote this so much and give a ton of interviews talking about her health seems a little invasive to me

Yes maybe, but when you agree to a documentary which is in large about your health, you usually promote it with interviews and appearances and are asked questions about your health. We are seeing it with the documentary MJ Fox had, now Christina Applegate, among others… Celine let CAMERAS in during parts of her struggle, I would assume that’s more invasive than questions that she can choose how and if she wants to answer them.

No but when she does the rare interviews she pulls in the viewing figures and lets not forget Céline was the guest who appeared most on her shows and Céline flew in to sing to Oprah on her birthday once.

Céline is loyal and she also loves things that feel familiar/routine … so I could be wrong… but it would be soo right at the same time :)

Dave Platel didn't think this far... They will only give us a post on Twitter and tell us to stream the new docu. Mark my words.

Just because Celine is having a good time every now and then does not mean she is able to do promo in great capacity. If SPS symptoms are triggered during a concert she can simply go home. If they are triggered during a live interview on TV then this can cause chaos. Being open about a disability does not mean one would be OK to be seen struggling on TV. Celine is a perfectionist and every time she had to cancel/postopone things she dealt with guilt. I will not be surprised at all if she feels like playing it safe. She might go for a pre-recorded interview and that's about it. But even if she doesn't, it is perfectly understandable for me.

She is still relevant. Not as huge as it was back then but, well, so isn’t Celine, right?

Most major interviews that happened in the recent years was done by her, and caught attention in the whole world. The fact that she doesn’t do it frequently anymore turns her interviews into a big event every time it happens.

And she was part of Celine’s life, I can’t think of anyone better.

Does she need to do promo for the documentary? No. Should she? Yes.

No one expected or forced her to go to the Grammys, do the VOGUE photoshoot, or do the Life in Looks video. She chose to do all that so it'd be weird to then sit out on promoting a documentary that she and many people worked hard on and that, according to the press release, is a love letter to fans.

I don't need, expect, or even want her to do a bunch of interviews. One major video interview and good online and social media promotion/activity is enough.

I also think promotion won't start until a month before the documentary is set to release.
