Ugh, I feel this is a result of the new soundtrack they’re preparing for streaming services. Now Zora Sourit is listed as Track 11 on the SSDA album (I think that’s the track # it is on the soundtrack anyway). 😩

Well, if the Federer doc is to be viewed as the blueprint, we might get a poster and an initial teaser trailer this week.

The Fed doc comes out 5 days before the Celine one (https://press.amazon...elve-final-days) and both the poster and teaser for it were released this week. That, plus this was the week of initial screening{s?) and promo appearances I think. Suddenly it was all over my socials, from accounts like Wimbledon, ATP Tour, Roland-Garros, etc.

Of course, it may be that Amazon plays it very differently with these two films, but from a distribution perspective, it's the best reference point we have.

 

P.S. Incidentally, a month lager (Jul 25) Amazon MGM is also releasing a doc about Cirque du Soleil, specifically O, coming back from the brink (COVID & bankruptcy protection): https://press.amazonmgmstudios.com/us/en/original-movies/cirque-du-soleil-without-a-net

Me too. I’m very excited to hear and see Celine’s story especially SPS journey more so than the music part. I wanted to make that clear just because I still think the soundtrack they are giving is both pointless and a slap in the face to the fans. I still feel that way and won’t purchase it as a protest to Sony and team Celine but that doesn’t mean I don’t want the actual documentary itself to be successful. I hope Amazon, Sony , Irene Taylor and Celine herself get out there and promote the heck out of the documentary.

I hope you’re right. But what makes you so sure? I think AEG execs are courting her to AEG functions because she’s part of their team. Ofc they hope she returns and makes them a boatload of money but them hoping and it being signed are two different things. If that were the case I’m sure it would’ve leaked by now.

There might actually still be some hope for a premiere event screening. Just realized the Federer doc (also distributed by Amazon Prime and out Jun 20) was not part of the original Tribeca lineup announced in April, but was added just last week & that is to be its world premiere.

So perhaps (I hope!) Amazon will do something similar with Celine, if not Tribeca, then maybe something tied to PFW and that supposed exhibition of her clothes? Late June timing makes sense for a tennis doc, between Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Surely they must have had some reason to time the release of IACD as they did. It’s got to be tied to something, right?

The Cyndi soundtrack includes one live track, and seven of the tracks are edits specific to this release (granted, that may just mean they fade at different points to the previously released versions, but it's something!). It's also a more wide-ranging compilation than her previously released sets. I'm still not excited by it, but there's a modicum of additional thought that's been put into it!

 

Cyndi has more items in the vault than you might think - A Night To Remember was entirely reconceived with some new songs/remixed versions after Hole In My Heart and the movie Vibes didn't do very well - getting that unreleased original album would be a real gem.

 

Imagine if Céline had entirely unreleased albums just sitting there in the vaults?! (I know there was rumor of a second Christmas album in the late-'00s, but I don't think I've ever seen anything but fan speculation on that one.)

 

I'm going to add Cher to the list of people with stuff in the vault gathering dust... recordings of her residency at CP, the Dressed 2 Kill tour, her Classic Cher residency at Park MGM, the Here We Go Again tour... now Cher herself hinted on Twitter that after the Christmas album she'd be working on a new album (whether that would be new stuff or ABBA part 2) and then returning to Vegas followed by a tour, but nothing's come to fruition yet on that front. Still don't understand why none of the shows above have seen the light of day, especially Dressed 2 Kill because it got completely shut down not very far into the tour due to health issues at the time.

 

TL;DR: Celine definitely isn't the only one sitting on a mountain of stuff that could be released in the interim.

Yes I believe “The Boys” premieres early June before I AM CELINE DION… and it’s one of their bread and butter originals, I actually love the show lol.

 

But it’s time for Amazon and Celine to start giving some promo and details, like you said by next week at the latest. But my guess this week.
