I follow Rosie but I missed this after the long weekend last week. Rosie O’Donnell bawled her eyes out after watching the doc (at the 3:42 mark she talks about her)

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been waiting to hear Rosie’s comments on the documentary — because she was a part of Celine’s success in the 90s, she loves Celine, and she loves documentaries. I think Rosie and Oprah were key players in helping Celine to sell those massive amounts of records.

Finally gotten around to listening to the Hoda podcast in full and while it does flow better without the cuts, I still preferred her interview for Canadian TV. She seemed much more herself there, whereas, understandably so, with it being her first time in talking about everything that’s been going on, she doesn’t really seem herself somehow and her English isn’t too great during much of the Hoda one.

 

What did strike me though, was how she quickly defended herself when Hoda said about “cheating” on stage and while I applaud that she stood up for herself, I couldn’t quite avoid thoughts of, well you really do cheat Celine, every time you mime a song at a concert so that kinda took me by surprise a little. It’s like she’s being doing that so long, she doesn’t even realise it herself 🤭 And she herself is OK referring to what she calls “lying” which is also too strong a word for the situation if you ask me.

 

Again, think I’ve said this before but I still can’t understand why a journalist wouldn’t follow up on the overuse of Valium revelation with how long was that going on for. Makes me think that question was off the table for some reason.

 

On a side note, still only watched the doc once, for all who have watched it multiple times, does it lose it’s impact or is it worth it to pick up on bits missed due to how distressing some of it is upon first watch?

Well, if you watch it over and over again well you already know it so instead of being emotional you focused on other things in the docu

If you follow the Greedy Peasant… they use an innovative snap system on their costumes to make the embellishments completely versatile/interchangeable (check their videos out - they are so creative and funny).

 

Now of course they are reacting to the snap-on cuffs scene from Céline’s doc, and their followers are dubbing her “St. Céline, Patron Saint of Snaps” 😂

That's one of my favorites of all guestings she's ever done. It lives rent-free in my head, especially the part where Richard chucked the cake to the floor + Rosie and Céline's reactions lol

 

Such a sweet soul. I saw an old vid of the time he testified in Congress regarding kids' health, upstanding, full of heart, genuine guy.

If Celine appears at the Olympics, it will give this documentary another boost. And it will give the soundtrack and all of her streaming numbers a boost.

Just looking through some of the viewer reviews on the doc and honestly the amount of people who would rather comment on the size of the twins and her dog, is crazy. Honestly, if you have nothing nice to say, just say nothing at all! Can’t believe that was their only take away from such a raw, powerful documentary 🙄

 

Having said that, although I would never say it publicly, I was surprised to see the twins were so big, as I thought Celine was always so health conscious and remember how she used to give Rene a hard time for being bigger. It does make me think that the kids were also cooped up at home along with Celine for much of the pandemic or more worrying that Celine was just too ill herself during that time to ensure the kids ate healthily and got plenty of exercise.

Totally is their business but it did surprise me a little when we seen the footage of the kids in the doc. I think Eddy was always a bit bigger in his makeup, probably due to genetics as you say but then noticed in the doc that Nelson too was quite big. Even RC has gotten bigger compared to when he was younger. Maybe she’s just decided to let them live and enjoy what they like as live’s too short.

 

Just hate seeing all the negative comments about the kids, people can be so cruel.

to be honest, i'm shocked that the documentary is still 100% on Rotten Tomatoes after being out for weeks. that surpassed my expectations for sure.

Well seeing them now they have slimmed out anyway so it is kind of irrelevant. I guess they were cooped up due to covid and their mum was seriously ill. Now they are teenagers they have changed anyway.
