Nice work detective! Still pleasantly surprised no media leak from that.

For sure! Though I’m also sure they have methods of discretion as well. Off the top of my head, it could have been purchased by Les Productions Feeling and the guest name could be under Celine Angélil. Unless you’re a superfan, people probably wouldn’t put 2+2 together.

Possibly under her sister Linda’s name if she was with Celine as well.

More surprised at no leaks about her being rushed to the hospital, wasn’t there some tabloid story saying it though?

I zoomed in and the Paramedics badge said Aurora so definitely near CU Anschutz.

Hotel wise, I observed the carpet, floors and the door from the vertical video from the doc, and they seem to match the Hyatt Regency Aurora-Conference Center, specifically, the presidential suite.

Wow, impressive sleuthing!

Wyn Starks artist of “Who I Am” commented under amazons post, generating a a beautiful response from Irene Taylor saying the following:

“@wynstarks thank you for lending your voice and music to this film! It was our beacon while editing…inspiring and always where we knew we wanted the film to go…a thrill to tell you this directly.”

Million dollar question is why wasn’t he included on the joke of a soundtrack… was Sony unable to promote a non Sony artist? What about callas for that matter? Might’ve bought it to support them, wasted opportunity.

Also forgot that she deliberately choose the WHITE suit for the Hoda interview which the first official appearance of the interviews. It’s clearly deliberate.

And she wore white to the premiere as well!!!

WWE stars seem to really love Céline? There was that dude a few days ago who was rocking out to one of her songs, another several years ago used her song as his walk-out music… is it the theatricality that appeals?

I was finally able to watch the documentary today… and my first thought after finishing was “oh my god, she looks so much better now then she did then”! It just shows the power of medicine and finding the right match. I have to give it to her doctor as well! Tonight she looked like the Celine we all know. Even from a few months ago at the Grammys to now, it’s night and day different in my eyes. It’s so refreshing to see.

The crisis scene was something else. I just wanted to reach through the screen and say Celine it’s all right, we are here for you no matter what and I promise you’ll be able to get better soon. It broke my heart to see her struggle through 2 days of Love Again recording. I truly believe she’s getting out and about to shoes and such to get used to the crowds, light, and sound again. Not only that, but emotion and adrenaline in a way too. Like her therapist said, she’ll have to get reacclimated to all these feelings so her brain can get used to it again and literally know how to process. One step at a time. My grandma suffers from a neurological condition as well, stemming from a bad bout of Bells Palsy. It comes in highs and lows, and everyday is different, but I know if you push yourself little by little, you can get to a place where you can get back to some sort of normalcy. I just hope and pray Celine will be able to!!!

Also her house… it’s insanely gorgeous. I love all the touches and designer finishes. I loved seeing more of the behind the scenes content! And her warehouses… my mom says I’m crazy for recognizing a lot of the wardrobe in there that we saw but I know we all could :giggle:

Onto bigger and better, dear Celine!

I know RC is there for moral support and probably as a fan… but I worry the tabloids are going to pick up on between today and the Grammys he’s holding her hand while walking… we know the reason but I think others are going correlate that with she NEEDS assistance to walk.

he is there to keep the stress away... I'm a very sensible person, and sometimes, i need my husband to take my hand ( a funeral or something like that .,it brings equilibrium. And without my husband,i just see my son who could do that.
Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

4.) And finally as has been mentioned before, I would’ve liked a bit of content via discussions, reminiscing about Rene. He was such a big part of her story, life and heart that I just find it odd not to include him more than the few times we seen him in the archive footage. I wonder if this is purely down to Irene not knowing Celine’s background. I would really like some clarification from Celine herself on what Rene thought of all this medicating to get through shows etc for near on since the mid 2000’s it would seem. I would’ve thought if he’d seen her suffering at times that he would say enough’s enough, we’re done.

So I finally watched the documentary this evening, and honestly my eyes are still sore from crying 😢 As I knew it would be, I found it an extremely tough watch but I honestly couldn’t love her any more after watching it ❤️

My heart breaks for her with all she’s been going through but I hope that she is definitely doing so much better and she’s not “lying to herself” this time. That crisis episode she had scared me actually and left me feeling that feeling again where we mustn’t be selfish and expect anything from her, she’s given us everything already but I do know that she clearly wants a return herself and I’m hoping as she said she won’t take any risks this time.

A few take aways I have from it after my initial watch (not sure when or if I can watch again tbh):

Finally, Irene did do well with the editing overall I thought. I liked how it started and ended but as others have said a lot of it was just a bit bitty here and there with quite a lot of footage of things that surely could’ve been discarded for more interesting content, whether in the present or more archival but with those video messages, Love Again French dubbing etc, these were really the only obligations she had during this time and she perhaps wanted to show that she was still working to some degree here and there.

I had some interesting ideas this morning about the lack of René (because I think we all noticed that his persona was reduced to a muted memory in this film…)

1) I was watching a clip of René’s funeral where Céline & the boys were being led down the aisle of Notre Dame by their flower girl & ringbearer to René’s casket. It was unabas theatrical, and somewhat poetic, and befitting of a fairy tale where the queen is escorted to her king. As Céline said at the time of his funeral, René’s masterpiece was her career. That career was successful not only because of her voice, but because of the storybook narrative René had so carefully crafted about her origin, her rise to fame, and their own romance. That “storyteller” in him carried through even after his death. Part of me wonders whether Irene acknowledged this as she sifted through the archive footage and decided to leave the bulk of her backstory in his hands…

2) My other thought is that Irene has shared her commitment to telling the central story (Céline’s diagnosis and learning to live with her disability) mostly through what was captured by her camera. Archive footage was used only to fill in the gaps of her narrative and add some depth to the theme of loss — not loss of Céline’s family, but control of her own body and thus her voice. This film is not about her controversial love affair with René, so the more we see/hear from him the more a disservice it is to Irene’s job as a storyteller.

Yeah kind of confused on that one too. I think it was after filming done, you can tell it was recorded on a cell phone so was not Irene who captured it. Also Irene said they only had it happen one time during all their filming.

But do we think the one year ago is in reference to a year before that crisis or a year before she announces having SPS?

Right before the one year ago message they are playing media reaction to her announcement. But then see her being interviewed by kids then having a treatment and telling us she just found out has SPS. Which we know is Aug 2022. So I feel the one year ago is in reference to the crisis placing it in Aug 2023.

See I thought the first crisis came first. It seems noone really knows what is going on only that this has happened before. Sounds like that one was pre he diagnosis to me.

I suspect a lot of the over medicating wasn't going on yet while Rene was still alive it built up over time. I can only imagine if he had seen how unwell she had become in the years leading up to 2020 he would have acted. I recall the sudden postponement of the Vegas residency in 2014, when Aldo had just been appointed but wasn't told about it first. Always struck me that for Rene to have been so ill himself but to have acted so swiftly to postpone the residency he must have witnessed something at home and made an immediate decision. I previously assumed it would have been for her mental health but now it does make you wonder.

I think what Irene did was very clever when it came to Rene. Without Celine talking about him much he was everywhere in the background. Close ups of photos of him, when she is sat by the pool focusing on her wearing a wedding ring still and showing how emotional she looked after filming the French Love Again parts where she talked about him. As one review I read sad Rene was conspicuous by his absence. She clearly misses him terribly still.

I'm a little surprised not to find this thread in reviews, even great ones: there is no "chaos" or coincidences in Irene's film. Although fans may be annoyed by the choice of recordings, "not enough René" or imprecise chronology... but Irene was not a fan of Céline. Apologies in advance: fortunately for the film.

After all, the song excerpts she has chosen and precisely edited are the second narrator, next to Céline. Together with her, they tell the story. The themes are two, actually one... I think that this theme is ultimately not illness, loneliness or existential crisis, but - what a cliché! - love. The one from Bizet's "Carmen," which is the film's buckle, and the one from the sentimental or innocently kitschy songs. Here Irene follows in the footsteps of Carl Wilson and the wonderful ambiguity of the title "Let's talk about love": thanks to her editing, fragments of songs suddenly begin to mean more than their authors intended. Love no longer means only a male-female relationship, it regains ambiguity, it can refer to music, to the stage, to the audience. And this is the second, and actually still the first theme: love, after all, means precisely that there is no "I" without a "we." That the search for identity, the film's central question "Who am I?", is always a question of relationship and bonding with others: the little girl on the kitchen table does not sing songs for herself, but for her siblings; "I didn't make myself up - I am", and I am who I am because I walked together with others ("When you want to go far..."). It is to other people that she must now entrust her own body, even/especially when she loses control over it. When no one is with her, Callas' voice watches over her, and the dog becomes the one-person audience.

The brilliant "Who I am" by Starks is summed up by Irene with this dramatic but also powerful sentence: "If I don't go, I'll crawl." To the people. Precisely because "I gotta be me, I gotta be I". - because it's impossible to be yourself alone. Me is us. (If only the people writing "she should rest, stay at home" wanted to understand this...). That's why Farnham's thread seems very necessary to me: it shows Celine both as a fan of another artist, and as an unfulfilled sweaty rocker with an unhygienic lifestyle, and humbly-amusingly turning "I discovered" into "I heard." And besides, "You're the voice," after all, rhymes so wonderfully with "Who I am" and "I am: Céline Dion." Is Céline Dion "just" a voice? Vocal acrobatics? A cracked instrument? “You're the voice, try and understand it/ Make a noise and make it clear/We're not gonna sit in silence/We're not gonna live with fear”…

The "solitude of the diva" described in the reviews seems to me only a dark background: it's like with sounds - the low ones are precious, because thanks to them you can hear the high ones. And in editing, in weaving together narrative threads and timing, Irene has the sensitivity of a musician. She brilliantly measures five difficult minutes of a crisis that lasted ten times longer : that's how many drops of someone's suffering need to be counted off, so that the viewer already conceives of unbearable discomfort, but doesn't yet become indifferent or start running away. As Irene says in an interview, according to Tibetan Buddhists, in the face of a suffering person manifests the Green Tara, an emanation of a deity: compassion.

In Irene's account, there is a recurring theme of Celine saying "Don't shorten the scene" and a word that bothered me at first: that she felt "validated." "Is it really necessary to be validated in the eyes of others at such a terrible price?", I thought. But now I'm thinking: yes, you have to, when you have an "invisible disease", when you "look great" time and time again, when for many years you've heard "Nothing is wrong with you, it's psychosomatic", or more brutally: "it's a mental illness" (Scott Roeben), or even more brutally: "she was over after her husband died."

I will not write anything about Celine's honesty and courage, because, after all, it has long been obvious. And only newly, dazzlingly proven in the film. It's just that today the intellectual, critical and reviewing world is bowing before her for exactly what they were ridiculing her for just yesterday: for her literalness, for her overpowering honesty, for being, as Goldman said, "jusqu'au-boutiste" (all the way to the end) and, as Deadpool said, 11/10. I read all those titles "You don't need songs to be a fan of her" and "I criticized her, I was wrong" - they sound in my ears like the most beautiful music.

And how fortunate that the film doesn't end with a Hollywood syrupy and pathetic "she will return" and "she will recover." There is only the unknown, with a whole load of anxiety - and hope. Not for a return to what was ("I feel like Liberace!" - I love that), but for what lies ahead. Maybe for a new repertoire, gently suggested by the countrified "Valse adieu" (I love that, too) and a jazzy version of "Love again" (I love it no less).

I felt like hugging CBC's wonderful Adrienne Arsenault when she said to Céline: "People will take any version of Céline Dion." Yes, people will buy apples. Oatmeal. Carrot cakes. Or they'll just sit gratis in the shade of that damn remarkable tree. What a tree, Céline, what a tree, estic!

this is THE BEST review from the docu I've read...

you've captured the essence... and even more... It was a delight to read this...

She was for so many years under inhumane pressure and exprience losts of her loved ones, this is the cause for her health issues today. I can't stop being sorry for her, people had to understand she is not a machine. I wish with time she will be less suffering.

Having to put a new show might to put her again under big tension. The show if it might take place must be shorten, I'm worried about trigers that might causing her to get spsams.

Once I went up on stage to sing a song and I thought to myself "Hey, I feel calm everything will be just fine". The moment the music got played I started to feel muscle spsam around my neck, the vocal chords, muscles were moving alone, areas I wasn't aware of their existence. I had no control. As a kid I remember moments of having my fingers stiff. Trauma, it hurted so bad. Today I'm learing to be a Qi Qong teacher, I wish Celine will practice Qi qong, it can be much of a help.

May the universe protect her lovely soul. She shows there is a hope even when time is dark.

"Dion arrived with all three of her sons, including Nelson and Eddy Angélil. This was reportedly a late-breaking decision, as the Canadiens' brass contacted Dion on Thursday with the idea of her calling out the pick."

Thinking that we are surprise to see a woman with no make up and naturally aging is kind of crazy. That s what it reminds us. This is not only refreshing. It is a statement.

I find her along the doc absolutely beautiful. And what always surprised me is how her eyes look young and mischievous. And she did not lose that.

I have to wonder if all the health issues she supposedly had/developed over the years, mentioned once or twice but never again were all just a manifestation of her SPS. I’m referring to Asthma (issues breathing could again be more about muscle control), the eye disease she said she had (SPS can affect sight due to issues with the eye muscles), the inner ear issue, the back issue a few years back (I would say that was a definite) and the jaw coming out of alignment regularly during the Taking Chances tour (was this actually caused by spasms so severe).

I do believe when she says this has been ongoing for 17 years though that it’s more likely to have been spasms and smaller issues here and there that she can now pinpoint as early onset of the disease. I definitely don’t believe she was over medicating and struggling throughout every other show for that length of time.

Great publicity in the week her doc. aired.

Part of me hopes now that she disappears again until the Olympics and takes it easy in the build up to it.

But I do think/hope that she will sing the anthem at this years Vegas F1 in November :)

Fittingly, Sarah Jessica Parker (the shoe-obsessed Carrie in Sex & the City) shared the clip of Céline talking about shoes to her IG stories: https://www.instagram.com/stories/sarahjessicaparker/3400580863480073063?igsh=MTN1OTVncXI0NXV4bw==

Also, Portland Art Museum did not forget after all. They posted a clip and say the full Q&A with Irene is coming soon: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8yS0raNQH3/?igsh=MWVrd3hxdjlxdzRjcg==

I remember she sent a video message to WWE in the fall of 2011. They showed it live on TV

Tournée Européenne in Paris (December 1, 2013)

Céline Dion Live 2016 in Antwerp (June 20, 2016)

Céline Dion Live 2017 in Birmingham (July 27, 2017)

It’s probably been shared here already, I may have missed it but this was a really good review and overall account of the documentary. Interesting though that they think the episode at the beginning was the same as the end one. I’am quite confused on the timeline here tbf

International (3.3%) $9,629

Worldwide $292,987

In Release 8 days/1 week

Widest Release 480 theaters

I'm surprised it showed in 480 theaters. I thought it was only 25 or so scattered special screenings in key cities as promo of sorts for the main online distribution.
