this is really cool!!!!

i can try my best to join / help !

and yes i can try design / make some images for this!

and i will spread the word about this too

for the dvd / blu ray

the vegas show should have a full concert prefer taken from 2011 to 2014 ish or the opening nites and then with bonus through out the years performances

i would say the 2016 / 2017 mini tour can be released in 1 box set maybe can even add 2018 tour too

so 2 full concerts (English 2017 & French 2016) and if add 2018 then 3 concerts and of course some bonus performances through out these few mini tours

Hyde Park of course should release as individual include making of / rehearsal

for audio / cds i actually don't mind if they wanna mix the shows into 1 and make it like a whole concert would be nice

also i think if they r concern about the sale then just release exclusive through some retail (amazon or so) or her official site and if the demand r bigger then they can keep produce more, or say only make 2k to 5k copies (world wide) at 1st and with limited numbered or so then if there's more demand then make more and maybe standard

If Sony can release Carole King's Hyde Park concert from 2016 i don't see why they can't release Celine's as i do not think Carole's one sold that much at all (maybe i'm wrong though lol) .....and they even released vinyl of it!! so yeah...

Well done, I'm loving it. Is there any sepcific day when we all be tweeting about a new DVD?

Yes, we have that (announcement coming this week) and other things in the works to hopefully keep building momentum.

During so long time I wasn't that exicted about something that has to do with Celine

and I have good feelings about this project. Finally. Let's show our power.

I have an idea. Fans can record their "reaction" in short video of 10 seconds, as if a new DVD is out tomorrow, and all the videos should be end with saying: Do you want this to come true? Take part in the petition of fans. ^_^

We definitely are planning to have fans record video messages as part of the campaign. I love your idea, and I can even see it possibly fitting into our original idea. Unfortunately we haven't been able to get a video "guru" to sign on at this point, but we're still trying to make it work. We have a couple of people working on short teasers and fun videos to post to create excitement. Right now, we are focusing on churning out some great content to increase our following.

The way I see it, the greatest hurdle is getting the fans energized and ready to turn their desires into action. I'm remaining hopeful that once we get a little momentum, as Maki_Dion-er said, someone will want to jump onboard the kayak with us and we can have a polished video done by the end of March.

I see Perez just liking all the retweets.

Maybe he can a bit more than just liking?

Write something about it. :)

Yeah I saw that as well. But thats the thing with Céline fans.

The camp 'she doesn't owe us anything' is big. But mostly those are the people that have no clue whatsoever.

But that group is exhausting.

I've heard we can watch her concerts on YouTube and leave her alone with her family during these difficult times.

Just sign the petition and go back to your daily photo posting of Céline on that group. With photoshopped butterflies and unicorns around her. :P

I think it's great that you guys are giving it your all and going for it! But this is what you should expect. There's probably only 200 people who are actually interested in this. Most Celine fans just don't care about having concerts on DVD. Don't know why. More people just like to listen to the music, maybe?

Welcome to the world of "the general Celine Dion fan". Where everything is perfect the way it is and the hits are the only thing that matters."

I mean, what fan doesn't want new Céline material? It just baffles me.

Looking at it from Sony's purely business point of view what's in it for them to release a new DVD?

Well, given it has now been more than 10 years since we last had a DVD it's difficult to guess how sales would go. However the "A New Day..." DVD has sold over 1.8 million copies and "Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert" and "Through The Eyes Of The World" sold approx 600,000 copies between them.

We know demand for a physical product has decreased in the last 10 years, so let's guess that there would be a 75% reduction in physical sales. That means they might still sell around 150,000 DVD's if measured against TC/TTEOTW. If they then add on streaming purchases / downloads then there *is" money to be made for them. Even with Celine being a weak streamer etc there is still some demand there.

To give an example, in the USA last year (2020) "Titanic", a 1997 movie, sold 202,000 copies on DVD grossing $1.7million. It was the 87th best selling DVD of the year in America.

If a 1997 movie can sell in those numbers all these years later surely a disc of new Celine footage can find a market?

<raises hand> To give you a different perspective: I couldn’t care less about new Celine material right now. A we just got a new album a little over a year ago with 21 songs (22 if you count Wicked Games.) A new album would be great. But a DVD of concerts I’ve watched 50 times on YouTube? Why spend money on that?

The pandemic has hit a lot of people hard. They’re out of jobs, trying to figure out how to pay their bills and keep their houses.

Again, I love that you guys are passionate enough to do your best to see if you can make it happen. But expect a lot of frustration with other people along the way as they just shrug their shoulders. Not everyone eats, drinks, and breathes Celine Dion constantly.

I can see what you're getting at, and I agree at some point... BUT... this is probably the best time for it: people need distraction from all the problems, mental health is becoming more and more of an issue the longer the pandemic goes on. It's looking more and more that we have to wait longer to go to concerts and festivals again. So if there's anything that we need at the moment, it's some form of entertainment and we all know how comforting it can be when your idol releases stuff: you look forward to it, you can enjoy it, you can be happier because of it and you can get through this pandemic a bit easier. Yes all the things you mentioned are really important, but don't underestimate the need to be entertained and culture.

Gosh. If u don't want to help don't but seriously there is no youtube video that could make up for an official and professional release. Bootlegs and fan videos are great but their quality is never the same.

And the pandemic argument is lame too. Artists have come up with many different projects over the last year and believe me most of them were not highly profitable but they still did something. I can't think why there can't be a dvd if the last English one qas recorded in 2008.

I disagree. Because of how good Celine's sound team is, there are some really great, almost-professional YouTube videos. Full concerts that people have taken the time to edit many different videos into one seamless DVD-like experience. The latest one for the Courage World Tour, where the person chose her best vocals from the entire tour and put them together was really great. I, for one, don't need anything other than that. And it's FREE!

Again, I'm not knocking you guys or putting down your attempts to do this. If you really NEED a Celine Dion concert released professionally that badly, I say "Let's go for IT!" I replied to the person above who asked "What fan wouldn't want something new from Celine?" I was trying to give an explanation as to why, not all of us, feel the need for something new from Celine right now.

I don't think that's accurate, though.

First, as up to 2019, dvd sales has dropped 86% in 13 years, according to NBC. The article says yet that in periods of recession (like 2008 or now) the drop it's even bigger.

In the list of the top selling DVDs of 2020, you find several old movies and TV shows, mostly because they cost under 10$. According to Forbes, that was actually a slightly increase in DVD sells during the pandemic, but most of them were sell to prices under 6$. What you don't find anywhere in the top100 (at least, I didn't find) it's one concert/music DVD. It's just not the way music videos are consumed anymore.

Most of the people, including Celine’s fans, don't even touch their DVD's. A lot doesn't even have a player anymore.

You guys are trying to do something that needs a lot of people to make at least some noise. But you're not gonna get it if keeping with the "it's the way I want it or get out" attitude. Have to find a common ground.

Now, now! Let's be nice- even if we disagree with someone's logic. :innocent:

We knew this would be an uphill battle, and as I've been saying, the biggest hurdle is getting fans on board. Even if some fans claim that they don't want a new video release, or just don't want to put forth the simple effort of signing a petition--but we know that they would eat it up in a heartbeat--can we actually reason with them? No, but we can examine our approach, assess if it needs recalibrating, and move along without them. Eventually some of these naysayers might get on board, but not if our tone is unpleasant.

TO BE CLEAR the Say Yes Céline team is not --I repeat-- NOT demanding a physical release. We will leave room for it in our proposal, but ultimately we want to present them with as many facts as we can, and leave the decision up to them.

One thing I find puzzling is when fans (particularly on the forum) will argue that "Céline has weak streaming presence - she is better at physical sales", then they suddenly change their tune and say "no one buys physical formats anymore". As I reported in a different thread recently, that is simply not true, as the band Queen (whether you think they're all dead because of Freddie or not) had MASSIVE success in the past year releasing recent concerts on CD/DVD/Blu-Ray/Vinyl. To me, that is a closed case, but this counter-argument being raised again only serves as a reminder to me that we need to get our graphic team working on a visual representation of that data so we can share it to our social. Then the next time someone argues against us, we can simply repost that graphic, which will save us valuable time arguing against people who simply won't look at the facts.
