New Las Vegas residency show!

Anyone who hasn’t seen “A New Day…” in person has s*** to say. I love how people go off of bootlegs or a DVD.

 

I have to say, I never seen a show and dvd of that same show, that were so vastly different. The DVD captured 0000.1% of the beautiful show.

 

I wish there was a multiple angles option on the DVD. The DVD itself is too focused on Céline, so you only see 25% of what's happening around her. And that such a shame!

 

Franco Dragone! He was a visionary and created amazing shows!

 

I saw AND 4 times in April/May 2007. 3 times I sat in front, 1 time i sat in the back, both experiences were great, because you could experience Céline, and all the dancers and effects upfront, but it was also very cool to see 'the whole show' from the back. I agree with Adrienne though, the show evolved or changed from a Cirque du Soleil show to an elaborate Céline Dion concert. But I think whether which version of the show you saw, you wouldn't have been disappointed. The quality of AND has been consistent for its run. And we can't say that about "Celine", where the show declined rapidly after 2012 (with a small revival in 2016, after René's passing).

I was there for the 500th show and was so special. I met Rene and Andre Coutou, and we got our cool free AND pack hiding under our seats with For Keeps and the program and other merchandise in it. I don’t care what tribute she gave that’s her business, I’m talking about his impact on her career. His name in my book is up there with Eddie Marnay, JJGM, LP, David Foster, and Rene Angelil in terms of impact on her career, be it in a different way but still.

Love this, but I do think as I mentioned before that I strongly believe a few vegas dates will happen before the tour resumes.

I think Pitbull will likely perform in the theatre NYE, which I didn't previously consider when I suggested the earliest she could return is late April. Celine normally cuts back on her performances during CES week which falls January 5-8 in 2023. Vegas is always super busy and expensive that week, so the hotels don't necessarily need to book performances that week. It would be a great time for rehearsals to take place. It turns out if she were to premiere on January 13 or 14, it leaves the perfect amount of time for 10 shows through January 28 before Luke Bryan returns Feb 1. At this point, with only 3 months to January, 4 months till this movie premiere and her supposed return to the stage… I don’t see it happening. Frankly, at this point, I don’t see the movie premiere or the tour happening either, given it’s been 6 months since her last update and we’ve heard nothing health wise since. To me, it doesn’t look good, and the silence is deafening. Hey- maybe it’s just me being overly negative or pessimistic after the string of bad luck with covid and then her health, but I really just don’t see her coming back in the near future. At all.

Given the fact the most recent picture of her to even exist is from July (I’m of the belief the vids we’ve seen were all recorded at the same time in April), it’s not exactly reassuring. Especially when even the non-cancellation vids such as the Foster tribute she comes across as borderline mournful and exhausted. I know all we’re likely to get is quizzes, random throwback posts and the occasional vinyl update… but at least during the year and a half of lockdowns she got them to post a pic or so every month just to acknowledge she was alive and well. It’s just concerning that she’s not even been seen from a face on angle since April, or even from below the waist. That’s all. Couple that with zero acknowledgement of the movie during the entire early press onslaught late last year and into early this year from both Priyanka and Sam, it’s just… weird. Which is why, personally, I just don’t see her making any sort of return soon. I don’t disagree with you, All I’m simply saying is this is always the behavior from Celine’s team when she’s off.

They don’t update us on anything or show her doing anything, it’s a joke really. All I’m saying is… just because she MIA from anything on social media doesn’t mean her health hasn’t improved a bit or even fully. So I am curious about the fan perception of Celine? Did Valerie Lemercier hit too close to home with her portrayal of Celine as an out-of-touch widow stuck behing the gated walls of her Vegas mansion? It seems many fans think she keeps almost everyone (including her own family and people she's known for decades) at a distance and is a loner accompanied by her grief for Rene that may take even more years to get over.

 

All of this is in stark contrast to the other "open book" Celine we know who is gregarious, lights up a room, will hug complete strangers, and do things like stay extra long signing autographs for fans.

 

And then there are the other allegations/questions that have been posed: does she really have an eating disorder? does she actually wish were retired? is she fuming and burdened with an overdemanding touring contract?

I think Celine has always given the “perception” of being an open book when in reality I think the opposite is true.

 

Her answers to interviews over the years are clearly rehearsed and she has her “go to” answers talking about her big family, not wanting to record MHWGO, how her priority is being a mother just to name some examples.

 

Of course she does genuinely open up from time to time but even when she’s asked an interesting question she can often find a way to bring it back to the answer she’s happy to give instead of the actual answer.

 

There’s nothing wrong with any of this incidentally, she’s absolutely entitled to be as open or as private as she wants to be. I just find it interesting she has this “open book” reputation when actually I’m not so sure.

I think she was always controlled by René or his aides, all her answers in all interviews were the same.

I also think she was always very polite to do what they wanted back then, it's obvious to see this change after Rene left, I don't blame him, but it was to protect her.
