remykyes Posted September 30, 2022 at 09:53 PM Posted September 30, 2022 at 09:53 PM (edited) This has hit hard… what an amazing show he put together for her. Her most popular and successful Vegas residency and as it evolved it just got better and better and the DVD never really captured just how incredible it was. It was my first ever Céline show and I returned to see it many times over the years and it holds so many amazing memories and feelings for me, in particular when I got the rose from her, and got a backstage tour and stood on that amazing stage on another visit. But the lighting, staging, visuals and the simple cirque statement touches with Céline at the centre really was special and I always hoped they would work together again in the future. RIP Franco. I think you just said everything that could be said. I was privileged to have been able to see the show twice, once with my dad, and once with my mom, and both shows hold such special memories for me. And whether it was your first Celine show or your umpteenth Celine show, it was such a special moment in time to have been able to have been in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace to experience the magic Celine and Franco put together . RIP Franco. Edited September 30, 2022 at 10:00 PM by remykyes 2 Quote New Signature Coming Soon!

PuraVida Posted September 30, 2022 at 11:10 PM Posted September 30, 2022 at 11:10 PM RIP Franco Dragone. A grand artist and, it seemed, a very kind, benevolent person. Celine continues to lose petals 1 Quote
Dancing_Queen Posted September 30, 2022 at 11:19 PM Posted September 30, 2022 at 11:19 PM Jeez, will you all give it a rest... Surely, Céline will write a message herself. Is she allowed to reflect on that for a moment? Or *must* she get the message out mere hours after his death jusr because you all require an *immediate* response? 6 Quote

Celine released a statement same day as her mothers, fathers and Rene’s passing along with Queen Elizabeth II. I’m sure she was closer to her parents and Rene and she still did it rather quickly. I’m sure Franco’s message is already written but her social media team is out of the office for the night….what a shitty joke of a team to a A list legend. 2 Quote

You can’t seriously compare the response time to her parents or Renes passing to Francos? Obviously with her parents or Rene she would react right away; they were the most important people in her life. Franco was an industry friend whom she worked with 20 years ago. Yes they could have stayed in touch but I don’t see how you could justify her having to post quickly for Franco just because she done it quickly for her parents lol. There is less urgency for non family. 7 Quote

There is less urgency for non family. People are saying give her time to respond, which is fine that’s her business, I’m only complaining about her shitty team. However, you proved my point with this post… I would think if I were Celine, it would be harder to form words on a passing of a member of my family or spouse, than others people…. Therefore taking my time to respond. Celine doesn’t owe anyone, anything on a timeline… I was simply saying, that to me it makes no sense. 1 Quote

Why are people expecting video tributes to a man she worked with 20 years ago when she didn’t produce that for her husband, brother or mother? I doubt she’s even seen the man in person for over 10 years… (edit: in fact, it seems the last time they were even photographed together was over 14 years ago) some people really need to separate THEIR views of what is important to her and what her actual areas of importance are. She's worked with many people. What is she supposed to do? Dress up like a bird and pretend to fly like people do in every Cirque show? She should pay more tribute to Eddy Marnay than she does because that man started her career. 4 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990

This guy had a HUGE impact of Celine being successful in Vegas, and producing arguably the BEST show Vegas and Celine has ever done. It’s not even close in my book, “A New Day…” is a experience that the dvd did no justice for, you had to be there in person to truly get it. I was hoping for Franco to help Celine once again with a show, he’s brilliant in my opinion. 1 Quote

That’s left for debate, however I think most fans think “A New Day…” was brilliant, the 2nd and 2A Vegas residencies are the ones that maybe beat a dead horse… maybe she should’ve tried to out do the first residency with “Celine” but it wasn’t the case. They hid behind the word “simplicity” when really “lazy” was what they did. Edited October 1, 2022 at 05:47 PM by Nmj 1 Quote

It’s not even close in my book, “A New Day…” is a experience that the dvd did no justice for, you had to be there in person to truly get it. I was hoping for Franco to help Celine once again with a show, he’s brilliant in my opinion. If you recall, the show was absolutely *slated* in its inception, and any article or documentary based on the show notes that, the show only really reached its stride in the last 2 years- during which, Francos input was at bare minimum, they’d stripped back most if not almost all of his original ideas and had brought in new choreographers, Annie as her stylist completely changed her look, the musical aspects included multiple things Franco would never have approved of originally, and (as many would agree) was a completely different show by 2006 in comparison to how it was in 2003. Her success, the shows success, was predicated on HER as the main attraction- and critiques at the time were pointed at the fact she was lost in a sea of circus tricks that they found detracted from the show- and by 2006/2007, reviews were more positive saying it was far more Celine centric, with minimal cirque involvement. As for my views on the show from a musical and vocal stand point there’s no point in going on, as I’m sure it can be agreed on that a set list where 50% of it was lip synched and the rest had lazy vocals on a million covers… best show, sure. But all of this is pointless- the point itself is; why would he receive a spectacle of a tribute from her, when people who were far greater with regards to impact of her career, as well as her own family, never received such a thing. It just makes zero sense to me. 2 Quote

I’m putting superficial s*** aside, you had to be there in person to truly get it, it really took you out of the world into a fantasy land, the dvd didn’t capture this not even 1%. “A New Day…” was my first ever live show/ concert and I wish it wasn’t because here I am going to other shows and Celine shows after that thinking all shows were like that, and every thing else hasn’t come close. I don’t care what the critics said, they never liked Celine and probably didn’t understand her decision to go to Vegas before was “popular” to go there like it is now. Quote
