Regarding the discussion about Celine's voice, I see no reason why she cannot sound great for multiple decades to come. Tons of other singers have sounded great into their later years and Celine has all this time taken great care of her voice.

 

She didn't do any vocal exercises during her 1999 - 2002 hiatus and came back without a problem. I forsee the same thing now. The Courage tour did have some rough moments, but the thing is she had that ear problem that complicated things and her mother was in her final days. I think if anything, it is her technique that maybe gave her issues, not age.

 

If I recall correctly, she was also sick for parts of it (in Ottawa, for instance) but still pushed through and did the shows.

If the spasms are vocal-related, admitting that is going to cause a storm of negative press. "Celine Dion mystery health crisis" would become "WILL CELINE DION EVER SING AGAIN?" ... "CELINE DION LOSES HER VOICE" etc ... that in itself would be more newsworthy than what she's put out so far, and I really think it would damage her severely.

 

I agree. Better to stay on top of the story and the narrative. That's how I interpreted the silence from her team....she was not doing much better and progress is slow, so what was there to tell the fans?

I think this goes along with the school of thought that a Vegas return would be easier on Celine both when it comes to stress and location. We know they have a show put together (the band was already in rehearsals when Celine had to bow out due to the spasms) so it shouldn't take too much to get a few rehearsals done and have the show open. We know it'll have the necessities (MHWGO, TPOL, IACBTMN, BYLM, IA, most likely ABM, TLYM, TTWII, LCMM, RDMH) so there really won't be too much "new" stuff. I'm sticking with what I said before...IF she returns to Vegas, I think it'll be a mid-Oct/early Nov open with a VERY short run to get her back in action with a rest/rehearsal period in Dec/Jan for Europe and press for "It's All Coming Back To Me".

 

Regardless, the moment she steps foot back on stage in Vegas, I'm there!

She seems very attached to the song, "Courage" (for good reason). So, I wouldn't be too surprised if that one becomes a staple in her setlists going forward. I could also see a dedication segment to Carole King by including "The Reason" and "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman." Other realistic possibilities would be:

 

- I Drove All Night

- Seduces Me

- Pour que tu m'aimes encore

- Tous les blues sont écrits pour toi

- S'il suffisait d'aimer

- Where Does My Heart Beat Now

- Beauty And The Beast

 

As for the semi-realistic songs I'd like to see added? Those would be:

- Somebody Loves Somebody

- A New Day Has Come (Radio Remix)

- Have You Ever Been In Love

- Ten Days

 

And here are some of the unrealistic, ain't gonna ever happen songs I'd love:

I think in an uptempo medley one french song could also work. A realistic medley could be Dans une autre monde/I drove all night/River deep mountain high, I would love this, it would change things up a bit. Enrique Iglesias actually played the Colosseum several times. I'm betting he's playing RW since it's a AEG venue since the Colosseum switched over to LiveNation.

I've wondered what that Asian tour would have looked like since it would have been used to promote the album, "Loved Me Back To Life." Obviously, the tour would have included the title track, as well as "Water And A Flame" and "Incredible." However, I do wonder if others from the album such as "Somebody Loves Somebody," "Save Your Soul" and "Unfinished Songs" would have made it to the stage. I know at the time, too, songs such as "I Surrender" and "The Power Of The Dream" were rumored to have been considered for the tour. Hopefully, we'll get answers to these questions someday.

I think she would have been on the safe side and would have performed the following 5 songs from the album :

Loved Me Back To Life

Incredible

Water and a Flame

At Seventeen

Overjoyed

But she did also rehearse didn't know love and breakaway, even though I don't exactly remember if it was for this tour or her vegas return in 2015. I think breakaway would have been lipped if it was performed anywhere.

Man thank you live would be such a beautiful moment for the fans, same goes for thankful. It's a hommage like à vous, I hope Celine remembers the message of this songs someday and give them a place at her shows. Wouldn't mind if it would be for longer. The message always fits and I bet she recorded the songs because of the message

That's my problem with Lady Gaga and Adele..... they mumble sing! Their pronunciations are so bad! People give Céline a hard time for her pronunciation but the way English born people like Gaga and Adele sing: I just can't make them out. It wasn't till Céline sang Hello or Rolling In The Deep until I understood what the lyrics are. And don't even get me started on "Shallow"

My speculation is that her health issue must be very tough and to battle it out she wants to be in a place closer to (better, or more specialised?) doctors. Or a place she feels is more calming and beautiful, whatever that means to her.

 

But yeah, my initial reaction is one of added worry. Who knows though, maybe it's just a plain old move. Suburban Las Vegas would not satisfy me, for one.
