please celine is the last person that should have done that concept because never ever has anybody seen her as a beauty icon,makeup or no makeup she is the same and even more beautiful without makeup ,and by the way the showed her more ugly in the clip without makeup because she really looks better than that ,and ontop of that the director has no vision,it should have been Dancy

no I get it, everyone has got their imperfections. I completely get that, but i have to say, Celine can look so much better when her hair is styled differently. Yes she has got her imperfections too.We all do. I think this video could have been better, that is my idea about it. Not only focusing on her but also on people with missing bodyparts or other imperfections. Like letting them sing the words. It would have given a message that everyone has got their own beautiy.

Same here. That's when she is showing this kind of vulnerability that I find her really beautifull. The bun, the wrinkles... All that, I want more.

 

I cannot say this is a great video, in a sens that it is still mostly outtakes from other fashion/promotional/Tour videos. But it is well done, they manage to create visually something very arty and beautifull,as well as creating a real talk, message. That's what you do when you have lot's of rush and 3 songs at the same time while not having that much time. It's well done really, professionnal, creative and right for the fans.

 

After all the aesthetic backlash of her being too skinny, too old, too much wrinkles. Looking at the camera the way she does, while taking off everything and showing even closer all her wrinkles and vulnerability; it is the best thing she could have done OMG, best f*** it ever. She is once again delivering so much empowerment.

 

And then you have those people coming here : I'm disapointed the video is not very flattering. Hummmm well....... How to explain ?

IMO if it was amputees, people with disabilities, disfigurement etc singing the song in the video and a glammed up Céline poncing about, that would have been a tad off and more than averagely cliché. I’m glad it was just Céline.

 

My only criticism is of her half hearted ‘miming’- we know she can do better than that lol. Put some gusto into it Céline.

This song and this whole album is about one person: CELINE. For the first time it's all about her.

 

She didn't want to relate to everybody's imperfections. She just wants to show hers.

OMG guys, is so funny see how she never please everybody, but as she said in some interviews, she don't care. I think you need to calm down, and just enjoy the moment, cmon the video is coming viral, it has 100 k views in less of two hours, and here we are only discusting if she have no artistry, if she need color in the video, if she look ugly or if we don't like the clothes . If we are realistic, this is more than we could expected some months ago, is real promotion, and if we are real fans, we should support her and share the video, and simply enjoy the moment!!

I'm sort of conflicted about this music video.

Overall, I was underwhelmed, but, in a way, that kind of works for this song. She's not pushing her voice to its max, nor is she peacocking around (well, compared to her PFW looks). I was truly expecting to see some ballet, or ANY motion whatsoever, but I accept the artistic decision to do otherwise. I agree that the final shot would have been truly exceptional in colour, and maybe it would have even provided the "motion" that was lacking from the rest of the video.The minimalist approach might confuse some old fans, or seem like tiny, tiny baby steps towards artistic expression, but I think in Céline's mind I think she's taking a big step - and trying to not rock the boat *too* much.

 

p.s. IMO the vanity mirror shots are a blatant homage to Annie Lennox's "Why" video (from one of Céline's favourite albums). But in Annie's video, she was applying makeup, and then a ridiculous, colourfully plumed headdress. Céline's doing just the opposite in her video. Just thought I'd share it, in case some of you had't seen it.

In your case, you think she's ugly, and therefore you should just look away and just *try* not to spread your negativity to others who don't have such narrow ideas about beauty.

See, the song may not be your cup of tea, but the lyrics are strong( yet so simple) the video magnifies it. The message in this song I would imagine will help a lot of people with insecurities; the modern production is just a major plus because like I said, I know people who never listen to Celine at all whether MHWGO or Ashes and all in between and now they listen multiple times a day to “imperfections”!!

You do understand that this song is not about being perfect and beautiful? It’s about highlighting and accentuating the wrinkles and scars and parts of you that you think are ugly, and owning them. Art doesn’t always have to be grandiose and elaborate. Art can also be subtle, like this video. Celine was also never a big production video artist anyway. Her biggest was IACBTMN. Every other video of hers pales heavily in comparison. I don’t know why anyone would expect anything now in 2019 that we didn’t get in he 90s.

Oh I don't mind the lyrics at all; better than most of her English repertoire. And totally for the ethos of the song and the video.

It's the production I find unlistenable.
