that's what I'm talking about old concept, second of all Annie didn't intend or the director didn't want to make her look bad ,like celine even removed her eyebrows who does that , people though u have eyebrows that's ok , but remove the makeup thats ok ,the way annit removed the makeup was creative Because she put so much makeup with colors so it make sense when she removed it ,she was different but not bad looking at least she left her eyebrows

 

At first I just wanted to let those weird or miserable comments die in the depth of the forum but I'm too bad.

 

So just one thing. Sorry to tell you that it is how Celine Dion looks - July-September 2019. Nothing to add. How do you feel ?

Nobody is saying that you had to agree that it was good! It just didn’t seem that you were recognizing the concept because you were saying how bad she looked...which was the point of the concept.

I never comment on this forum anymore, but seriously...WHO CARES WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE??!?!? From an artistic direction, in my opinion I think its a lovely short film. She doesn't need all the bells and whistles a la Taylor Swift and Beyonce. That's not the kind of artist she is. Its age appropriate, simple and classic. At the end of the day, she's a vocalist. Period. She doesn't need to be covered in glitter ponies to express that. Can we not be happy that there's a music video at all? /end rant

I get what you mean. Let me comment, it's all a matter of preference. I sometimes want big production or at least out of this world crazy unique ides that would at least generate a lot of interest sometimes I also want simple things like just the way it is now in this video. Same feeling, not that it is an excuse but it seems that the kind of video you are talking about will be for lying down, other songs will be made with outtakes from other promotional/fashion stuff. I hope the dancing outtakes will be used for Courage the song.

 

This is honest, this is smart. It looks like they're trying their best, and with artistry.

 

But yeah if I just analyse this video I feel a bit the same.

 

I think it could have been improved if only the director had used bigger camera movements when the song picks up but they don't. It's pretty static all the way through. Not a bad video but it could have been more.

 

Celine's perfermonace is really good though because even if she is lip syncing she can't all of a sudden start smiling big and making energetic motions because she's portraying someone who is insecure, someone who is having a hard time accepting themselves. Only in the final shot does she give small honest smile, it ends on a hopeful note. I really like that.

 

The black and white outfit with the top hat is wonderful, loved it. She looks like a glamorous female mad hatter

Just adding colors don't necessarily add artistry or beauty.

In this case, it would be cringe worthy. Turn the last shot into colors? That would ruin the whole purpose of it. The whole concept.

IMO, it's a nice little video that suits the song well. But I still dislike the track.

They really changed the marketing plan compared to her latest releases. And... It's very good so far! I love that she combines both her love for fashion and music here! I really like it!

I agree. Fashion is an important chapter in her life now. A coping mechanism IMO. We need to respect her choice.

Terrible video , old concept , looking bad , unlIke the tour look , boring, imperfections doesn't have to be physical or in terms of how we look it can be in our charcaters or anything else ,it's amazing how a video can ruin a song concept , I wish I never watched, what was that ,why shoot with weird crazy moves,boring gown ,a bun ,I'm really disappointed

I do not find anything wrong with focusing on physical imperfections. These usually do have an impact on the way in which our personalities are shaped.

After 7 years of waiting this is what we got? My goodness!!! Look at Taylor Swifts music video "Look What You Made Me Do". That's what you call a "comeback" video. Celine's team never fail to dissappoint me.

Here are my thoughts on the video clip of Imperfections...

 

1. One of her few music videos that has some PERSONALITY. Celine is the protagonist of the narrative, she is not just posing in front of the camera while random people act. The fact that this music video draws upon her love for fashion makes it come off as more personal, more original. Something that her English career has been lacking so far IMO. It is without a doubt a step forward artistically.

 

2. Black & White actually works for this video perfectly (pun intended ). There are no colors to distract us, there is only Celine, the focus should be on her facial features. In a way she is more exposed. I can totally see the artistic direction there. Yes, Black & White has been done in the past but here there is a clear reason why. Unlike with the album cover of LMBTL for instance, which could might as well have been colorful.

 

3. The good impression the video gave me has made me like the song more. And I have only read positive comments on YT so we are definitely up for a promising era!

 

I am a happy fan today!

This video also made me love the song even more. It is the perfect imperfect video... I see vulnerability in this video and it perfectly fits the song... and I dont think it only addresses physical imperfections. Its much more than that... Love it!

IACBTMN was epic in a cheesy, 90ies sort of way.

My brother was recently watching it with me and he was in stiches because everything was so over the top...

 

'Imperfections' on the other hand is quite possibly the best video she's ever made (to me).

I liked (but didn't love) the song, but the video brought it to another level.

I hope a lot of people get to see this.

The make-up scene especially is so powerful.

She's embracing her age in a way that I haven't seen done by a woman of her calibre in pop music.

She's the trailblazer Madonna could have been before she decided she wanted to try and stay young instead (I love Madonna, don't get me wrong, it's her body, her choice).

Aging naturally, showing your face without make-up...it's a brave thing to do in showbiz, even if it shouldn't be.

Céline is a role model for many young artists and young women in general, so this is amazing.

To say I'm a proud fan today would be an understatement.

Also, I do think she looks beautiful

For the first time I'm in the minority. I'm not impressed at all with the video. It's very basic imo. The message of the song isn't about physical imperfections to me but about personal/internal ones so that's hard to show in a video but it's not impossible. This was done in a photoshoot studio and by the looks of it so was LD so my expectations for that video have lowered considerably.

I too think the video could have used some color because the song is upbeat, no matter the theme of it. I picture them having some clips where Celine is in b&w but her surroundings are in color. The final shot would have been better in color.

 

I wish she would hire a director to come up with interesting mv concepts.

 

Still, I'm just glad to see them put effort and give us more than one mv.

 

The final scene is proof to me that Celine looks more beautiful with no/light make up than with heavy. And after so many videos with like 10 layers of filtering it's so good to see her all natural self, embracing her "Imperfections"

Thanks, still think a few touch ups could have made it better. But the more I watch it I admit it's one of the better videos she's done for her English songs. And as others have said, I love that she is the protagonist not just the narrator.

I also like the water scenes.
