Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

I always find it funny when people comment on the lyrical and production quality of courage, the one which critics as well as many people who only knew her 90s material (and a large chunk of fans) are in agreement is one of if not her best lyrically and production wise. ESPECIALLY when their favourite album is one from the late 90s / early 90s which, for as much as they have a few good songs (usually the hits) they’re (rightly so) blasted for having pretty shocking lyrics and production… I mean albums with songs like I Love You, I Hate You Then I Love You and Super Love are hardly in contention for any sort of lyrical or production award… just saying 🙃🙃

It’s so badddddd. Sorry For Love is absolutely the superior dance track of the album

I think I Love You has beautiful lyrics.

Agree on Super Love and IHYTILY, as well as Rain, Tax.

I still don't get why they had to reschedule those canceld shows in her promotion weeks.

Normally they reschedule stuff months later.

My contact at Sony UK confirmed to me at the listening party that they had a tone of promo booked for her but it all had to be scrapped, not sure about other countries though.

Calling it a flop is some serious accusations

Not when it flopped! :sofunny:

I mean, I love the album as I said. My favorite album since ANDHC - 2002. But that album fell so hard from its first week to its second that it made history. That is a flop. F-L-O-P. One of the biggest flops by a major artist since they started keeping records. Why do people have such a problem with that. You can love a flop - it's perfectly okay. I do. I love Courage. Courage was a flop.

It's funny how diverse everyone can be here regarding where they rank their albums. "Courage" is my all-time LEAST favorite album of Céline's. There's a few songs on it I enjoy, but overall, it's boring and forgettable to me.

My LEAST favourite is Unison and Miracle, totally useless albums for me. Even One Heart is enjoyable but these two.

That's because Courage is diverse album, so many genres in it. Ergo it's easy for people to dislike or like it .

Again you keep calling it a flop when it’s been established that it was in fact one of the best selling albums of 2019 in terms of pure sales (it crossed 500,000 pure sales in a month) and was the biggest selling album in terms of pure sales in 2019 for a legacy act. It outsold all of her contemporaries including Cher, Madonna, Mariah and Shanias latest attempts. It having a chart drop off in the states doesn’t make it a flop- especially in the era of music where people regularly debut at #1 with a new single and then it drops to #40-60 the next week. It’s just how music goes now unfortunately.

Does anyone know how reliable the original news source is or is it speculation?

As far as I know Le Parisian is more tabloid-y than a broadsheet newspaper. But still far more reliable than most of the absolute gutter trash that most newspapers are.

So there is still hope for the European leg ???

According to a Youtube poll with nearly 2,000 votes, A New Day Has Come and Taking Chances are her liked popular albums released since 2000. Then Courage, followed by Loved Me Back to Life, then One Heart is last.

Yes, I'm convinced if she is well to perform the European leg will happen. I'm sure they are not going to scrap a sold-out tour. If the experts are right, covid shouldn't be an issue in the Spring/Summer, many other artists are planning summer tours as well. But of course is she is not fully recovered they will need to reschedule/cancel. This is the third or four article about her coming to France in the last few days, so it might even be her team trying to quell the rumors.

Her team on Sony is to blame for the lack of proper promotion when the album was released. They promoted it 6 months before the actual release, which was ridiculous. When it was eventually released, she appeared on 2 major tv shows and that was it.

Well, she went on James Corden...but neither the name of her new album or the new song they teased was even mentioned. Then the three singles were dropped at once which seemed to diffuse each one.

In her defense, she did burst out into "Courage" in the middle of her Jimmy Kimmel interview.

I have a funny feeling that she will continue the UK, portion of the tour, Cause I have a feeling she doesn"t want to disappoint her French fans,

In my opinion, they should have made that line Courage Don't You Dare Fail Me Now more popular. Maybe make Celine sing it in all interviews, or make a remix and tell people to make a tiktok.

So many thing could be and could have been done. They still have time

It's as simple as a "Tell us a time in your life when you needed #Courage"

There was an article in Le Parisien:

Céline Dion's friend, in statements to 'Le Parisien', denies that the 53-year-old singer is facing cancer or a degenerative disease with Alzheimer's. "She doesn't have cancer or Alzheimer's as written. Céline has had a digestive problem for a long time, which causes muscle spasms and weight loss", says this friend. "This disease is not serious and does not need an operation, but it does require a long treatment and a draconian (food) regime,"

What is this digestive problem that causes spasms?? did Celine really have problems with anorexin??

Rumors keep coming back and the silence and uncertainty of the tour prevails.

Yes (and it was discussed here earlier in the week), but the tweet posted misattributed the statements to her management.

My guess is Claudette being Claudette.

I don't even know why that news thread is necessary

Is this official news that Celine has been suffering from digestive issues for a long time and having spasms as a result? Did her team really post this, or is this just a rumor so far?
