Again, please educate yourself about how public performance royalties work before spreading things which are so blatantly incorrect. That post is complete BS and entirely disconnected from reality.

But i wonder if it makes a difference singing the old and new songs - you have to pay the songwriters for the old songs just as you have to pay the new ones, and also for the covers. First, it's not about me. It's about the law.

Second, see my last post (linked above and here), which it seems you missed.

(Oh, and it's also my job. I work with music publishing every day.)

 

Please educate yourself about how music publishing works, who pays whom, how statutory rate are set by rate courts, who collects and distributes royalties, how copyrights are split depending on type of publishing agreement, etc.

There are plenty of resources out there on PRO sites such as ASCAP or BMI, or private companies such as Songtrust or Kobalt, among others.

 

I'd also suggest a reading of All You Need to Know About the Music Business, by Don Passman. It's widely used as reference across the industry, and written by one of the most prominent lawyers in the business (who, incidentally, is currently representing Taylor Swift).

Theres a difference between freedom of speech and slander and defamation of someones character (which is exactly what you were doing if Holborns summary was correct), if you want to express your dissatisfaction you can be calm and explain your point, everyone else can do so when addressing her/her team, no need to be aggressive or disrespectful

I’m not surprised they deleted it when you mentioned about the lipping of her biggest hits. It’s one thing to vent your frustrations at the fact she’s not singing more songs from Courage but I do not see why any so called loyal fan would want to highlight all over social media the fact that she lips in her shows.

 

A lot of her regular fans don’t realise this so you’re totally spoiling people’s enjoyment of seeing her live shows and basically Celine’s credibility, quite frankly and not to mention that if the media ever picked up on it, it would cause a s*** storm. Am I necessarily happy that she lips, no of course not but I’ve learned to accept it and certainly don’t feel the need to call her out for it publicly and spoil all the other oblivious fans enjoyment of the big note in ABM or her performance of TPOL etc.

 

It just doesn’t seem like something a true fan would do.

Celine Concert #13: <3 On Saturday, I went with a friend to see Celine in Atlanta for her Courage World Tour. This time 20 years ago is when I became a fan. And this time (a little later this month) 11 years ago, I saw Celine live in concert for the first time in Raleigh for her Taking Chances World Tour. Anyways, a nice little anniversary show for me.

 

In my opinion:

Highlights: The Prayer; Tous Les Blues; To Love You More; and Courage

Worst Song: LCMM

Beautiful show. Celine truly enjoyed the fans there on Saturday night. Celine feeds off the energy in the room and delivers a better show when the crowd is into it. And the crowd was sooo in to it on Saturday. She sounded GREAT!! Great time spent chatting to fellow fans! I was impressed by her lunges in the beginning of Your The Voice!! After seeing it live, it's a great show! Yes, I would like more songs from Courage and if she changed the medley to her own uptempo songs, it would be beyond perfection! But atlas, it was still beautiful and great! Can't wait to see her in Raleigh!! <3

Hi sarit. Have you ever gone to a céline show? Ever seen her live? I mean, don’t be surprised with your “comments” on facebook being deleted. Including the lipsync part, really? It’s a common thing. Mariah is doing it, Beyonce is doing it, almost everyone is doing it. Of course new comers don’t have the right to do that of course they need to prove themselves that they can really sing first before doing that. And not all songs from the setlist are lipped.

 

You have to see her in person and everything that you have said will change.

 

The only thing that i wanted to change from this tour is the setlist and the changing of mics it’s a bit annoying. I hate wires at the stage it messes the visuals on stage. That’s all.

What you call a fiasco is a 99.9% sold out tour with one of the highest average prices out there. On top of that she is getting the best reviews of her career. We can argue that more songs from Courage should be included, but with respect. You can't go to an official artist FB page to accuse her of lipsyncing and expect your post not to be deleted. Specially because it is unfair. I've seen many female international artists in concert in the last few years and Celine lipsyncs much less. Some of then lipsync 90% to 100% of the show (Shania, Britney, Jennifer Lopez among them).

 

Do you really expect Celine to sing ABM note live every two nights? She wouldn't have a voice after two months. And don't tell me then she needs to do less shows because then you would complain the prices are astronomical and real fans couldn't afford them. Barbra Streisand does only a few shows every now and them, but I bet the cheapest ticket is $500.

 

Celine is one of the hardest working artists in show business. She takes care of her voice like not many others do, she doesn't drink, she doesn't smoke, she trains a lot. Isn't that being respectful to her fans? If you don't see that too bad for you, but don't expect her team allow you to talk like that on her official page. That's not freedom of speech.
