Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

But others will tell you that she is extremely successful because she sells out shows within hours of presale, and that's the only success they see . In the eyes of these people, Celine is still the best and most successful female singer out there. But my disappointment comes and goes way further than ticket sales: artistically, Celine's career hasn't go anywhere since 2007. She stopped being creative in the studio, she has taken a big distance from her recording activity in the music studios. She stopped performing like a true artist, finding the next level of performance to her songs, showing the public her evolution as a singer and as a performed. She decided to stay in the same point forever, doing what's more convenient and safe for her: to never change a comma of her performing-routine. She hasn't moved a step from where she was 12 and 17 years ago. And that's quite disappointing, for someone who has the best voice to do whatever she would like to sing, and instead, she's always singing the same damn program of songs.

Before you roll eyes on what others see make sure that your account is an objective one.

Critiquing her career post 2007 without referring to a larger-than-life world tour that lasted until 2009, several miscarriages, giving birth to twins, dealing with cancer, and eventually with the death of her husband AND manager seems like a very, very, very biased approach. We all know that these facts had a tremendous impact on her professional life.

AND YET, still releasing 3 albums, promoting all of them, touring for 2 of them, fulfilling her Vegas contract, recording another album as executive producer and going on another world tour... but Noooooo she hasnt done ANYTHING in 15 years!

Yes, I do remember. The first thing I said once a new tour was announced in January, even before Vegas was done and even before we hadn't even the title of a new album then, it all sounded ridiculous.

Now wait for the same couple of members here coming after this post saying the same "oh, but she is the best-selling performed in the industry", she's a "living legend", and all that. So what? That doesn't mean much, when your career as an artist hasn't gone anywhere since 15 years ago.

Now we're about to receive a new English album, that hopefully is going to have some more cohesion and coherence than the previous, and maybe it's going to be her best English material in more than 10 years. But we all know that when the next French album comes, it's going to be the same process as ever: looking for songwriters to send her songs, and same will happen for the next English album. But I miss having another album like "Dion chante Plamondon", with a concept behind, or "1 fille & 4 types", and of course "A New Day Has Come", where all the songs were specifically sent to her thinking in her new phase of her life as a mother, and her happiness.

Javi, some people here fail to see that your thoughts come up from admiring her so much

and knowing that she had/has so much to offer and do with her artistic career

and she is indeed the greatest female artist to walk this earth

so it's heartbreaking to understand all that waste of talent

that went on for so many years when it comes to her career.

I think she sings amazing, but can understand the creativity aspect

you wish to see on this Tour. Like I wrote you in other post, she still seems to have the LV jail mentality,

where she was on autopilot mode during so many years,

that's why maybe she doesn't go for new exciting arrangements of her songs

going out of the comfort zone, that can take her performances to the next level,

or maybe it just lack of motivation

which is hard to avoid from, after being in this business for decades,

and well, having so many dates for this Tour not helping here either.

No wonder she seems to enjoy more, singing songs by others.

What I loved about the AND album, is that freshness the songs had in them

the positive amazing singles, wonderful production and the list

goes on and on, and it made you want to listen to it over and over again.

Celine herself ignores her last albums and not including them in the setlist

and maybe with a good reason. I don't listen to those albums... maybe I have to rediscover

them... for now prefer to hear songs from AND and OH in the setlist.

I don't care if she will have or not have

an insane hit like AND was (Though that will be something lovely if it will happen),

For this new album it will be nice to have those addictive

memorable songs with good production once again

when one will be able to enjoy it for years to come.

How I wish we will be happy with the new album

Javito you forget the mini tours of 2016 and 2017, and I enjoy her English songs, they are more intimate. You know, I teach Spansh and many of colleagues of 50 years and more are tired of their work.

As much as I detest the end of the show with the medley and Imagine, I think they medley is here to stay. But I'd definitely like Imagine to be swapped out with one of her songs.

I also think "Courage" as an encore would be amazing.

Seriously, I don't get why anyone who is rarely happy about Celine and her career would keep coming here every day to repeat the same negative cr@p. When I'm not happy about a singer, I don't go spill venom on their fan forum. I go for things I like to do and I follow artists I'm happy with.

There is difference between greatly admiring her to wish to see things get better

what other see here as "complains"... and if I'm not wrong half of this board complain about the setlist.

How do we know she’s an executive producer for this album, has that been confirmed and if so then surely that alone is her taking huge strides forward artistically speaking.

We are aware that some things can improve but this is not the point. The problem is repeating the same negative things day in and day out. If everything is so bad with Celine then why spend so much time here to criticize her? There's no problem stating an opinion ONCE but after that, better move on.

I like PQTME instead of Imagine.. They did a great job with PQTME arrangement. So beautiful :)

It was listed with one of the big album tracklists of amazon if I remember. Its also on her Wiki page for Courage (which is a protected page, giving legitimacy) beside the list of other writers and producers on the album, shes co-exec with John Doelp, Senior Vice President of Sony Music

Not trying to start a fight in here, but if she hasn't go anywhere in 15 years, and that bothers you so much, why keep following her?

It's 15 years of complaining. I just can't understand.

You try to sound like the reasonable one while you call others "these people", but at least them have a reason to be here still. You are just torturing yourself, hoping for a time that, clearly, will never go back.

Because there's always hope. I too waited a long time to see her free from the Vegas jail-contract, which was an obstacle for her to do countless projects, and now she's liberated from that after so many years. So if that happened after a long time and I was able to wait and keep following her, I can wait some more too to see what the future holds for her in music :giggle: Her future in music can change for the better too, and new interesting projects can come around, hopefully someday ;)

Javito has not gone anywhere in 15 years either. :giggle: Same comments, whining, complaining... Attacking Celine for not evolving artistically is simply a projection of his own stagnation. :geek:

Ohhhhhh. Devastating and categorical. The wise Luke Skywalker  :cry1: :cry1: :cry1:

Even a non-Celine fan concert review had the same sentiments as us. The review of the whole show was mainly positive, besides the medley.

https://www.clevesce...years-and-slays

The final song of the night (before the encore, obviously) was a mash-up medley that included Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and Prince's "Kiss," among others. And while these tunes offered her an opportunity to get the crowd pumped up — she doesn't have a whole bunch of upbeat songs in her repertoire after all — that part of the show felt like a leftover from her Caesars Palace residency in Vegas. She could have easily dug into her own catalog of songs here.

Also an article about the drones and the company hired to do it for Celine's tour.

She's ending the show with Imagine because of the statement that she wants to make with that particular song. Because of that, I don't mind it.

What Celine song could they use instead to get the same sentiment across?

Critiquing her career post 2007 without referring to a larger-than-life world tour that lasted until 2009, several miscarriages, giving birth to twins, dealing with cancer, and eventually with the death of her husband AND manager seems like a very, very, very biased approach. We all know that these facts had a tremendous impact on her professional life.

Can you explain what ANYTHING of all that list of personal happenings in her PRIVATE life have anything to do at all with the point I exposed, which saying that her music career hasn't evolved from an artistic point of view???

You understand nothing again. This is another proof that you only post and attack me just for the sake of it, when you don't even get the point of what people writes here :wtf:

And no, her TCWT didn't mean any step forward artistically, besides including her umpteenth file of covers (as she's doing today in the Courage tour, nine years later).

You guys need to learn to read first. Go back to school and have some contact with a book maybe, before resorting to the most silly attack and critic against each other here? Thank you.

Exactly. I wouldn't be saying what I'm saying and I would eat my words if she was performing a medley of HER OWN SONGS instead of a medley of songs by David Bowie, Queen, Prince, Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan

Apparently, it is so hard for some people here to understand what creativity and artistry means here. She has dozens of songs she could pick and do marvels with them in a medley instead of always taking songs made popular by others before her.

I said and I quote so that I avoid being told that I twist words: We all know that these facts had a tremendous impact on her professional life.

Love how you separate the private life from the professional when Celine has been married to her manager. :sofunny: Just an example of how the personal and the professional have chronically been intertwined in the most obvious way in her case. I could go on and talk about stability and Vegas, songs reflecting her family life, giving up on her honey-moon to perform Think Twice, how her music now focuses on themes of loss, and so on.

I think any person with above average IQ can understand how her professional development and career choices are shaped to a considerable extent by her personal life.

Well you can apply that to yourself too? If apparently I say the same post copy and paste every single day like you say (which is utterly false), let me inform you that you do exactly the same and repeat the same bitching thing about me every chance you have :innocent: So if you see I don't move on and keep repeating "the same", then preach what you say and don't keep saying the same repetitive post about me asking me to move on, which you have been repeating ad nauseam for years now :-D :giggle: Preach...

So if you are not a songwriter, but God gave you one of the best voices in the world, how can it be a waste of talent to focus on what you are good at, singing and performing? Becoming one of the greatest live artists ever? Even more when all focus from the whole music industry is in concerts and shows? Changing the concept of live entertainment and residencies forever? How can it be a waste of talent to rebuild your image to keep being relevant after more than 30 years of English career making more songwriters and producers wanting to work with you at the level that you can’t stop receiving songs for your new album?

If you don't like or don't approve on 90% of what an artist does or how that artist is handling her career, then you definitely shouldn’t be on a fan forum. Is like if a join Mariah Carey’s forum because I love a couple of songs, that doesn’t make me a fan if all the rest she does just makes me angry or biter.

But I miss having another album like "Dion chante Plamondon", with a concept behind, or "1 fille & 4 types", and of course "A New Day Has Come", where all the songs were specifically sent to her thinking in her new phase of her life as a mother, and her happiness.

I fail to see how ANDHC is more cohesive than other English albums or what’s the concept behind. An album with songs like Rain Tax, Super love and at the same time covers like At Least or Nature Boy. TCOML, FIY or CD albums are much more cohesive than ANDHC. Same with most of her French albums.
