Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Then I put hope in him! And hope I forget it so I won't be too disappointed later on.

Yeah you should. He’s the one who designed the LTAL tour heart-shaped stage and the TC Tour centre stage. He also designed the 2011-2014 Vegas show.

Therefore, if he designed the Courage tour this way, it’s not because he’s not capable or doesn’t care, it’s probably because he thinks it’s better than anything he’s ever done before (yes, better than LTAL and TC). Let’s trust Yves and Denis.

I mean i think it was only during TC and IDAN that he actually had that role, i mean he was even still playing violin in Alone... LIKE WTF lol

Um...there was a giant violin solo in “Alone.” Even in the studio version.

Agreed, she took that song to a new level in 2017!!

The live version completely lacked the studio versions impact, but regardless of what it was in the studio, imo, the violin just didnt work very well for me. And i think they knew the violin solo didnt work on the TCWT it was so awkward for me, they couldve (and shouldve) switched it to a guitar solo live

Weird to me that she didn’t go to NYC for the icon party or fashion week. She hasn’t missed any of these lately especially when she doesn’t have shows yet... I’m hoping this means she’s enjoying her time off with her mother and family in Canada, and also working very hard on giving us the best tour ever.

I’m very skeptical about this tour, part of me wants to have have faith that this tour will truly be her “best” as she said it would be but with good reason a lot of us aren’t going in expecting much because they always market all of her shows as the “best” whether it’s true or not.

I just hope for some artistry with this tour for some “Courage”.

I understand she can’t do a world tour without the hits, that’s fine, it’s necessary...

However, that doesn’t mean they can’t change the hits a bit, try new things... even moving BYLM to an end of a show would be different it’s usually in the beginning portion of every show or maybe stop ending the show the same way she has been for 16 years with RDMH and LCMM and give them a rest... to have more faith in her discovery and sing songs that she was proud of off of certain pst albums that she has never done before.

If she can give us that, everyone would be happy. The fans, and the public Just going for the hits.

I just hope this tour is epic, and since I will be at first ENGLISH show of the tour I’m glad for the element of surprise and hope I can’t basically guess not only the setlist but even basically the order of the setlist; because for fans like us even without the bootlegs we can practically guess the setlist and order of it with ease that’s how predictable they have become, doing that for so many years straight I don’t know how Celine isn’t beyond bored with performing.

The live version was WAAAAY better than that watered down version on the studio album. Felt more rock and less classical.

Was it? When i saw it it was *less* impactful and the heady mix high note always bored me because she never even attempted to replicate the way she hit it in the studio and lipped the last sustained notes so it was always a skip for me

Can't wait to see her show her new dancing skills. That'll be a treat.

But why not put hope in Celine as well. He's not choosing the songs for her or designing a stage he alone wants. He's helping her realize her wishes for this concert and helping her choose songs that go with the visuals and emotions she wants for the tour.

Celine and everyone around her continuously say that she is way more involved in decision making now.

"We will recognize her successes, her songs, but she has fire even more sacred than before. She always had it, but I've worked with her a lot lately, and it's happening. She is interested, involved, makes decisions, takes things in hand."

Yes. Very curious what she and Naomi have been working on. (Naomi was previously with National Ballet of Canada and La La La Human Steps - and the latter was one of my favourite dance companies, so while obviously Celine is a beginner, I'm curious what they came up with.)

And since Pepe just arrived in Quebec, I assume she's either already there as well or not far behind. Still, a bit amazed we've had no sightings.

Ever since after 2002 her studio covers kinda suck and the live ones shine - TSMGO, NMQP, HDYKTMP...

I've never been against covers, always wishing for her to do even more, but lately I don't think the quality is there at all (at least not studio tracks).

"A new dawn", "Right next to the right one" "water and a flame", "that's just the woman in me", "tu nages", "rien n'est vraiment fini", "beautiful boy", "taking chances" are really good covers.

Strangely, you only mention iconic covered songs.

Pre 2002, she also had her fails " when I fall in love" ( a jazz song...back then her voice wasn't at all jazzy) plus " I hate you then I love you" and "natural woman" are both legendary songs and she was critized a lot for them.

But I don't see the point to judge the stage ... she will be alone ( no dancer) , why do you want a huge one? So that you can whine on how empty it looks like?

“Tous les blues...” should be part of the Anglo setlist, too. It would be a great way to introduce more of her French material to the Anglo markets as it has English lyrics, too. “I Believe In You” with Il Divo on screen would be a great choice, too.

I agree completely! Its an incredible song and i was really hoping due to her love of the song she wouldve brought it back to Vegas with her in 2017 to go either before or after TSMGO as an encore

now I really wonder will they give us fans a Tour DVD , that would be icing on the cake

No, one French song is enough in an English show and I think the same for a French show.

It’s nice for one song, but that could have been another English or French song depending on the country/city.

But... it is a nice treat to hear one from her other careers as that one song might make someone then want to see a full French or English show.

But yeah for me one is more than enough.

In 2017 the first london shows had a great setlist but the 2nd batch for me was a disappointment setlist wise, as there was two French songs and obviously 1/2 English songs from the first batch of shows was axed for it.

I think its hard. She was told for years by Rene (or sony) to keep these two sides of her very seperate, only PQTME was really the bridge between the two for a long time and you could see she relished when she got to sing in french, she came alive. But then many anglo audiences couldnt give a damn about french music and just want her songs that they “understand”... but then there are french fans who feel shes shunning her Francophone roots by doing one song in french in a whole show... again, as is the case in so many celine cases; she cant win

I went to see her French shows in Paris in 2013 & 2016 and was annoyed how many English songs were in it, when there was so many great French songs I would have loved to have heard.

You were annoyed at the 2016 show? The same show that was 26 songs long and had 6 english songs in it that were (mostly) all hits?.... okaaaaaay

I loved the setlist but I wanted more French songs, which is why I said it should be one French/English ;)

I didn't count those as real covers coz the orignals aren't that known (Eng ones at least, besides BB). And I love RNTTRO, TN and TC!

IHYTILY was also quite terrible. Wish she'd do Never, Never, Never sometime though.

EDIT:

Oh I don't really know why brought up the stage when talking about covers, but I'll reply: honestly I don't care much about the stage at all (since they rarely make a good one) coz I am only interested in voice, song choices and arrangements. But I commented only coz they hyped it up so much and then showed us something with the same basic square design as usual. And I couldn't keep quiet about how some went banas and praised something so basic.

Conclusion: I don't care about the stage.

"A new dawn", "Right next to the right one" "water and a flame", "that's just the woman in me", "tu nages", "rien n'est vraiment fini", "beautiful boy", "taking chances" are really good covers.

I would love a medley of French songs in her English shows. It could fit in the same time slot as a single song but she would get to show more than just PQTME. If the general English speaking audience doesn't care much for her French music then there is literally no reason PQTME has to be the go to French song in her alnglophone concerts. She could sing anything, she could sing the ones that are French/English (Tous les Secrets and tout les blues sont ecrits pour toi).

I'm sure there are lots of English speaking fans like myself that would love to go to a French concert but can't afford the travel expense so we're stuck listening to only PQTME live.

Today may be rehearsal day! Pepe posted a photo of the courage poster on his stories. I don’t think it’s a poster outside of the venue because the dates aren’t listed but I may be wrong.

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

Then everyone would have complained that it sounded too close to the original.

I am one of those who cares about the stage and lighting effects. 😁😁 She has been creative and fearless in fashion, and why not transcend it in her tour as well. She is the whole package, and as someone said, with the price we are paying for tickets, and her singing similar setlist all these years, the visual could bring more excitement.

She actually got two PCA nominations. Style star of 2019 and Most Hype Worthy Canadian of 2019.

Let's make sure to vote in both categories
