Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Recommended Posts

One thing they did right is choosing the name for this tour, "Courage". It's gonna certainly take some courage to attend a show of this tour and paying hundreds of $$$ for a ticket without having any idea of what you can expect, no album released and zero anticipation created about what she's gonna sing and do onstage :-D :giggle:

Wait does it say “not many but more than one Song from the new album”????

You know, he says "more than one but not many", and you know what they say, "three's a crowd", so... my bet is 3 new songs from the album. Or wait for just 2 so as not to be disappointed lol :-D :giggle:

I really don't care either. They don't do great stages (the heart shaped one was neat at the time though but that seems to be the exception).

The thing is to me when they as now hype it up highering our expextations, and it from what we've seen now doesn't look any creative, innovative or new at all. They always go for the basic cheap square shapes. With an end stage they could have played around so much with bending and sweeping shapes. They could have gone wild with framing it under some magnificent shape but all we see is emptiness and cheap basics as usual. They should ha taken the Hyde Park stage with them (ok maybe not possible, but please get my point) that's the most creative stage I've seen Céline on (and the Oscar stages).

Like I said: don't hype it up if it's basically the same old same old.

I must be the only person who doesn’t give a damn about what the stage looks like. For something like “A New Day...” of course all the “extras” were important but for tours I’m just there to see and hear Celine to be honest. Lights, catwalks, screens etc I can take or leave.

Nope you're not the only one. It's kind of like the font they chose, it doesn't matter to me. I don't go see someone based on the font of a poster, the size of a stage or what microphone they are using.

But if a veteran of her team is saying that this show will “break the fourth wall”, I’m assuming this stage setup is capable of doing things we can’t even imagine. Why would he say that if it’s just the same, old, boring old stage from 1995?

They’ve spent 9 months planning the visual concepts and set list of this show... which explains why Vegas (and Hyde Park) was stale for her last few months: they’d already been rehearsing the new arrangements in June. We just have to have faith that it’s going to be exceptional - and vastly more interesting than Vegas. Initially I was going to hold out and wait to see the set list before buying tickets, but now I’m thinking I’ll pay an arm and a leg to get the best seats I can afford.

Nobody is going to announce that to the fans “Hey everyone, ET caught up with CD while filming video footage for her concert tour, and those videos will be projected on to screens all over the stadium, and it looks like this, and then, and then... and then the set list will look like this... and here are all of her costumes...” Doesn't any one want to be surprised anymore?

I realize there have been letdowns in the past - believe me, I’m not ignoring/excusing any of them - but why were we all let down? Because we let our imaginations run away beyond what was “promised”, and we allowed our expectations to exceed reality.

Got a reply from Kaven!

There Will be a second guitarist :-)

I msg’d him too on instagram and he said there will be a second guitarist but that he’s still part of the band.

I’m relieved lol!

Or what “wig” she’s wearing... *whistling*

I never cared what her hair looked like, or the damn font, or what microphone she uses. Imagine if you got a new makeover, and then millions of your own fans began bashing it and pressuring your team to change it? This goes to show that her own fans are sometimes more cruel than the actual press/public opinion... that’s really something.

I love Céline for who she is, and the fact that she does take chances (Vegas aside). Others say they do, but then their actions/follow up commentary say the exact opposite.

Totally agree!!!

I think in this day and age with technology and all, we are paying to see a show. The complete package and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, we’re all different I guess.

I just think the days of standing on a bog standard stage with a street lamp are long gone!! First and foremost with Celine it was always about the voice and I get that but let’s be honest we all know her voice is not as it was and the most difficult song parts are lipped anyway so I think we deserve our ticket price to be justified in other areas of the concert/show.

I’m hoping it’s all going to be crazy good and we’ll be surprised once all the technical elements are thrown in to the mix cos looking at the stage setup as it is, we sure need it!

I still love her to bits and always will and know that when she hits that stage she’ll give 110% as she always does!!

Multiple guitarists? That’s interesting

I don’t think it’s unusual to have a second guitarist, normally in a band there is generally the main guitarist and say a rhythm guitarist if I’m not mistaken. Can only be a good thing, I’d say. Hopefully less strings and a more rock edge to the arrangements.

Celine herself used to have Andre and Seb on guitar during the show when he wasn’t playing the violin.

I mean i think it was only during TC and IDAN that he actually had that role, i mean he was even still playing violin in Alone... LIKE WTF lol

Well i guess considering it seems Celine may not be attending NYFW, this will either be an extremely quiet 10 days or a 10 days of teasers / countdowns... hopefully the second but..

I hope that after the album is released they add more new songs from Courage.

https://www.journald...our-celine-dion

They updated this article. No mention on the 40 something songs.

- Apparently they are working together with Silent Partner, responsible for visuals and also worked with Katy, Taylor, Pink.

- They are using the same technology as some of the big names in the industry

- Recently they recorded visuals with Céline which will be projected

- Technology is also being used to bring more emotion, and there will be moving objects?

- There is gonna be dancing, she is in an amazing shape

- Yves is working with Céline since January on the scene and song choices.

I think you're conflating things. There are 2 different articles, and the more recent one still makes reference to ~40 songs across the English & French set lists.

No, you're not. I find the stage meltdowns equal parts hilarious and bizarre.

Truthfully, she could stand there wearing a potato sack and I'd be more than happy. Music for ears, not eyes.

Musicians? Yes, please

But no catwalks, pneumatic lifts, fireworks, any other bells and whistles required. The fewer distractions, the better.

I really hope you're right about that! :) Was the "fourth wall" mentioned in the French text?

But if a veteran of her team is saying that this show will “break the fourth wall”, I’m assuming this stage setup is capable of doing things we can’t even imagine. Why would he say that if it’s just the same, old, boring old stage from 1995?

Well we know we can't let the imagination run away too far, so I think we just let it follow what they/she says and then they don't even live up to that (ie couple of new songs in Hyde Park). That's what's bugs us the most I think.

I realize there have been letdowns in the past - believe me, I’m not ignoring/excusing any of them - but why were we all let down? Because we let our imaginations run away beyond what was “promised”, and we allowed our expectations to exceed reality.

No the original article from Journal de Québec was heavily edited later on.

IIRC even Mego played the guitar at a certain point.

So we're finally getting some "guitar-heavy" (for Céline's standards) performances again B)

Yes, it was. But the more recent article (the one about the bilingual show, updated at 18:14 vs 17:54) still makes reference to the 40 songs.

At the link I just posted above.

Updated at 18:14 yesterday, at both JdM and JdQ:

« C’est un peu le casse-tête parce qu’on se retrouve à monter un spectacle de 40 chansons, a-t-il expliqué. Mais c’est important pour nous, pour elle, qu’on fasse des hits francophones. »

They apparently decided to do 2 articles on it, as there was only one before the 18.14 "edit"..

I'm sure the 40 song thing is still true, but it's "funny" they decided to fully edit the original article.

There were 2 articles all along - that's why I was saying people were conflating them...

But yes, lots of edits to the one re. the stating, etc.

Maybe this more “rock” seeming band and the drop of the orchestra indicates a more rock style of arrangement for some songs... what i would give for that album style soft rock arrangement of TPOL to come back

Who is this Yves that's working on the setlist with her? Is it Yves Frulla? Hasn't he been with her since forever? And the setlists are almost always kinda the same? So it's safe to say the segment of LCMM/RDMH "Goodbye ya'all!!"(who are you fooling) MHWGO will go on?
Peace and love to all.

If she closes the show with the same 3-4 songs for another tour after like 16 years straight, I may just leave early to beat the traffic out of the venue! ;)

Then I put hope in him! And hope I forget it so I won't be too disappointed later on.

I know almost everyone wants the bare minimum hits, rare songs and new songs galore with songs which have been sung to not be as prominent... however i really hope she keeps TLBSEPT in the Francophone shows of this leg
