P.S. Guy Lefleur & Celine with a check that's probably not enough for a pair of her shoes these days.

I was thinking we might see something from Celine on this one. He was a legend and hugely important to Quebec. Glad to see her post.

So Babs turns 80 tomorrow. She released her latest studio album in 2018. Tony Bennett was recording, performing (and winning Grammys!) into his 90s.

I wonder - will Celine still be doing her thing at that age, health permitting?

I think she loves it and is not likely to step away. Don't think she's the kind who'd say "I made my millions, I can live a comfortable retirement now". I think she loves it too much, loves the applause and adulation. Plus I think she wants to keep going for Rene and for the kids.

I can only hope these last 2 years away from the public eye made her miss singing, performing, and just generally being a star. I hope it gave her the hunger to come back with a force and made her realize she still has a lot of things she wants to accomplish. (Hence the movie, perhaps?)

I just really do hope we have more new things to look forward to from her, not just greatest hits tours and Vegas.

Babs 80?! Crazy to think she is aging.

Same goes for Tina Turner.

I saw a performance of Shirley Bassey at the BAFTA this year. She is 85!!

Imagine celine still doing a few appearances here and there.

She has said since she was very young that she wants to sing her entire life. That's why I think she and Rene consciously made the decision to preserve her voice through the L word

Would be so cool if she would sing it live again, it was a hit for her and should have a place in her show

Four candles on the little cake and one on Céline's hand (René)...

Since it was posted so early today on Mother’s Day , I’m guessing that photo was taken on Celine’s birthday in March.

Not to mention the fact that there are candles in her dessert cake...and she traditionally has used one extra candle for the departed family members. I am guessing the one in her hand is for Rene.

My right guess is the hand is for her own mother of you forgot that Celine has a mother too who's dead.

Did you guys also notice that Celine tried to "imitate" Britney Spears, or was heading in the same direction in 2003? I noticed that clearly in the way she sings in Love I All We Need, but also her look

Britney and Kylie were the hot female artists at that time. Of course they inspired her, but I don't think she imitated them. btw. The songwriter Cathy Dennis (Toxic, Can't Get You Out Of My Head) wrote REVEAL for Celine. Should have been a single in summer 2003!!!

I love Reveal, one of her best songs. I wish One Heart went full dance-club mode. It would be invaluable to have one album like that from Celine.

Ooh yes. Sort of 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' like Madonna.

Reveal would have been a great single, but unfortunately they focused on the ballads.

apparently the chrysler promo contract heavily influenced the album project and timeline...sigh

Thanks!

BBC’s A to Z is easily one of the best interviews she has ever done and I’m annoyed it’s no longer available as a podcast. Thankfully someone saved it on YT but wish it were more easily available and discoverable because it’s so good.

I agree. She needs to do more radio interviews, period. She seems to be more comfortable and less hyper. Though I will say I usually enjoy her British interviews in general. Jonathan Ross, the British Courage interviews...Even Dan Wootton.
