Has Celine ever said anything negative about another artist? I was thinking this after seeing all these YouTube videos people have compiled of various celebrities making negative comments about each other (I obviously have way too much time on my hands).

 

The closest thing I can think of is when she called what Miley Cyrus was doing at the MTV VMAs "pathetic" on one of the LMBTL interviews last year. But even that was done with a fair amount of compassion for Miley, and she seemed mostly to be blaming the team around Miley.

 

In one of the biographies, I think Celine mentioned that Rene never liked to hear her talk negatively about others, even when they were alone - that he found it vulgar. Interesting. But there must be some people they don't like . .

I saw this today and thought about Céline. I mostly hear her music on Spotify, Pandora and XM radio. Perhaps she still has a chance or this is wishful thinking on my part.At this point I'm just happy hearing "Incredible" on ABC :) Thank you Talyor Swift for pulling your music from Spotify-don't care for your music or the reason behind it.

LOL! That would be pretty funny .. . a lot of the Unison songs are soo 80s. It would be funny to hear it today. Especially if Celine permed her hair again and wore some really 80s outfit. :giggle:

 

Cannot believe she opened a concert with Love By Another Name. So far as I know, it was never even released as a single . . . nor have I ever heard of it as anyone's favorite. Seems like kind of a random choice.

 

I think she used to open the concerts with this song coz it was the same opening song in '10 ans deja'

The arrangement was so odd...idk why they lowered the key. Unnecessary. Celine sounded odd singing the verses.

I agree that it sounds a bit odd.. And I don't really know exactly why :S probably the arrangement like you said.

But its one of my favorite tracks from the album still lol

I currently have "I Know What Love Is" in my head... I love it!

Now that is like my BEST song of hers. I absolutely love it. For me, it even beats her songs of now. Please don't get me wrong, I love many many of her songs from a few years and present songs, but "I Know What Love Is", is just a bit more the best song for me. Only my opinion though.

Eminem has a controversy about raping another rapper, Iggy. I find it strange that Celine mentions him occasionally and that RC listens to his stuff. Maybe she just really doesn't know or understand what he is saying? Or maybe she is into rage rap and that's the side of her we don't see, lol! Maybe it's just me and I don't get it! I've always wondered about that myself. I don't think Celine's into rap or Eminem herself, but it seems that RC definitely is. In an interview years ago, when RC was still a baby (I think maybe the Larry King one in '02), she mentioned being uncomfortable with some rap lyrics.

 

But I don't think Celine always pays that much attention to lyrics, honestly. She sometimes makes comments indicating that she has no idea what a song is about . . .. About the Phil Collins song "Another Day in Paradise," she once said it's a great song because it makes you want to go on holiday [it's pretty clearly about homelessness] (http://www.celinedio...rd/page__st__30). And then there's this article about Skies of LA: http://articles.lati...ment/ca-socal24 ["Dion describes the song as 'a little jewel,' but it's clear that even after recording it, she was captured by its melody, not its message. 'I didn't know that it was about environmental things, to be honest. It made me think of palm trees,' she said. "]

 

Still, I think Celine and Rene must be aware to some extent of the disturbing things in Eminem's music. I know Eminem says Marshall Mathers is just a persona, but I don't think that makes it much better. What kind of person creates an alter ego who wants to f** a woman with an umbrella and open it inside of her? Or kill her with a machine gun? And I don't think that's appropriate for even a sophisticated 12 or 13 year old to be listening to. At the same time, there are millions of kids RC's age who love Eminem (I just don't understand the appeal) and Celine and Rene don't seem the type to forbid controversial things from their kids. My guess is that they talk to him about it.

 

Or, as Nico said, maybe he listens to censored versions, and just likes the rap rhythms. Celine does seem to pay attention to PG-type ratings, since she mentioned them in one of the LMBTL interviews, complaining about how they're on movies but kids can see much worse stuff on TV.

Another thought -- Celine, Rene, and RC were all huge fans of the major controversial-but-popular-among-young-people artist of their generation. With Rene, it was Elvis, with Celine, it was Michael Jackson -- and with RC, it's Eminem. Interesting.

I think I am too old to appreciate Eminem and rap. I think its great that they don't sensor RC's choices of music. Just hope, like you said, chocolate chip that they talk with him about the message. Interesting for sure!

To be honest I think Celine was hoping for a collaboration with him similar to what Dido and Rihanna have done. Just my opinion.
