She's doin something right...she has a residency in Vegas and it hasn't been closed yet lol

i find her better now, she works hard, not perfect but really likeable, good dancer too.

Really off topic but..Ginette Reno sang the 'O Canada' tonight for the 3rd playoff game between the Habs and Lightning. She did a great job really blew the roof off the Bell Centre and was given a great reaction by those in attendance.

it was great, she should have had an assist on Bourque's goal ....
Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

Haha yes! Apparently she rehearsed accompanied by a piano and at the last minute decided to go accapella. The Habs are playing with a purpose so far and if the Pens flame out I will be pulling for le rouge blanc et bleu

Ginette will be there again next game if her cardiologist gives her the ok. Apparently, it is a special demand from René Bourque, who didn't know who she was but was very impressed :giggle: Some players were asking about her to the players from Québec.I hope the Pinguins go far for you, but they have to play better defense as a team. But Fleury seems to do the job this year.

no , he is from Manitoba, don't speak french...He is indian like Carey Price, a representant from First nations :)

Yes. Tyra also visited Celine backstage on that same day and we still don't have footage of it. :down: Supposedly it was taped and there was camera crew there, so still hoping that something will come of it! I want pics so bad.

I love Tyra, she is one of my favorite famous people ever. I loved Celine's time on Tyra's talk show and wish they had done way more of that. tyra is incredible, I am such a fan of hers.

really interesting, thinking about Celine's music at such a high degree, it is rather amusing. Why people loves what they love, it is not an easy question. But this article shows the true lesson, don't judge others , it is not because you like Celine that you are dumb since it could be for many reasons . And at the same time. i won't judge people who don't like her, it could be for many reaons also. It gives you pleasure, you are happy, good thing. Pretty simple, even more so in Celine's case. It is shiny, they worked hard to sell us an image, i don't buy into it, i just like her , her songs and her voice. >I'm happy they have done that, building her carreer, selling this image, more people have knowed her this way and can appreciate her talent.

I was just coming here to post this article -- I thought it was really, really interesting. It echoed one of the things I really liked about Carl Wilson's book -- that even though he didn't like Celine's music, he came to like Celine the person. The author said it more eloquently than I could: ”Wilson has slowly and patiently found and come to respect one human soul [Celine], regardless of his cherished “likes”; it's a beautiful reminder to see someone do that, in any context."

 

I also loved this, about the reaction to Celine's appearance on Larry King right after Hurricane Katrina: Her appearance on Larry King, however, did make an impression; it struck me as absolutely sincere and sane. That thousands would actually spend time watching this interview so they could jeer at it, jeering especially that Dion (a singer!) had the nerve to sing a song after her speech, seemed not merely cynical but neurotically detached from reality: Dion's response wasn't only moral, it showed a sort of biologically based empathy that understands the physical vulnerability of humans in the world.

 

I already have the original Carl Wilson book. I may have to buy this new one will all the new essays as well.

Celine's in Georgia with Rene, Rene-Charles, Eddy and Nelson for sure. I don't know who all else is with them though. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else or not.. but they seem to have been at a golf resort in Georgia. The tweet here supports that and the conversation she has with someone:

So I guess we know now that Rene is able to travel, which is a good sign. Now if only we had some pictures of them. But it's good to know they're spending time together as a family :)

Thanks for the info. :) Good to hear that Rene is traveling and having fun with his family. I think this means he must be feeling good. I am sending my prayer to Rene and his family for continued happiness and health for the future.

I started to wonder it's been months since his surgery, so he should be doing good. I don't know much about his surgery type, but I thought he was doing better. :)

As soon as I see Rene and see how he looks I feel like I will know if he is okay and it will put my mind at ease, since we have heard nothing since the announcement of his cancer returning.

I agree! The surgery could be a success and other issues arise. Throat cancer can be pretty tricky and hard to beat. I think seeing him may help. Although looks can be deceiving too. I'm just hoping this is a celebration for them than something else.

I had the same thought at first, but then after a little investigative work ( :giggle:) I realized the resort they're at/were at seems to be pretty exclusive. So the only thing I can think of is that maybe the types of people who go there are used to seeing people like Celine? Or maybe it's just the case of no one thinking to take pictures and/or ask for them. But I do kinda want pictures of them too, for the same reasons you suggested. Hopefully we'll see pictures of them together soon!

Something awesome and weird happened today. I am a tourguide in a museum about automatical musical instruments (mainly street organs) in the Netherlands, and after one of my tours a visitor comes up to me and tells me how much he loved the tour and that he is from Montreal and that he loves that we in the Netherlands have this culture of street organs and such. So I say, jokingly, 'well you have Celine Dion' and the guy completely freaks and couldn't stop talking for 20 minutes, about how awesome she is and how she comes from a big family etc. I could not interrupt him to say 'yeah I already know that' :P but it was awesome. dutch people hate her, so it was awesome to see someone so passionate about her! And the guy could not stop talking.. o_O
