Celine was just on 60 Minutes. They just showed the Elvis and Celine video from AI when they were talking about Elvis! I was so excited.

 

It was a Céline evening for me.

I saw the segment on 60 Minutes as well. The footage caught me off guard but it was great to see her on TV.

Is it possible to buy French DVDs such as Live a paris 95 in region 1? I couldn't find any.

 

I bought a region 1 ''Sur Le Plaines'' DVD from Amazon.ca. I had to take my DVD machine to the place where I bought it to change the code so that I could watch it. Now I can watch any DVD from any region. Try Amazon.ca.

In this recently unearthed clip originally recorded in French back in 1993, Celine sings of falling for the song's namesake, Ziggy ("Ziggyyy, I call him Ziggy, I'm so hot for himmm"), a jock who's into playing with balls -- and not just the ones he uses during football practice. "Why won't he try anything new?" she whines, as if she were a mother trying to get her child to eat his Brussels sprouts. "I would be his very best, and his first -- in many ways." She's so hungry for some Zig that she says she'll wait for him or and even stalk him in the men's locker room (creepy!), all the while hoping it's just a phase he's going through.

 

 

Are you LOL-ing yet? Because this is no joke: apparently the song was a huge hit with the French. And luckily she has a bagillion gay fans ready and willing to swoop in and take that ungrateful Ziggy's place. Like the ones who are gladly sharing stadiums with screaming middle-aged women (and their bored husbands) during Celine's current "Taking Chances" world tour. The massive concert went on the road back in February and Celine has packed her setlist with fan favorites like "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and "Love Can Move Mountains," and decades after she began her career her voice still sounds untouched and flawless.

 

So far "Ziggy" has only been performed once during the European leg. I'm guessing that's probably because it must be agonizing for Celine to conjure up those in-love-with-a-gay days gone by. But, c'mon -- like she needs Ziggy anymore! She's Celine Dion, [insert French accent here] The Greatest Singer in the World!, as once playfully touted by Dion-mocker Ana Gasteyer on Saturday Night Live. And besides, she's got better things to occupy her time with, like promoting her brand new double disc greatest hits, My Love Ultimate Essential Collection, in stores on October 28. The lead single from the album, "My Love (Live)," written and produced by onetime 4 Non-Blonder Linda Perry -- the power dyke who's worked with everyone from Christina Aguilera to Courtney Love -- was just released. After watching the video I'm confident not even Ziggy will be able to resist Celine's wily charms any longer.

I almost forgot why I came here: One of our local radio stations play some kind of introduction before every Celine song. This introduction begins with something like: ''From humble beginnings...'' and then they go on about how Celine became the biggest selling female artist in history... and then they say someting like ''... with a five octave range, not even the Titanic could sink her career...'' It's basically like a small summary about her career. I think it is very cool! They do the same thing with Queen, Elton John and Bryan Adams.
