Moleque20 Posted May 22, 2018 at 07:07 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 07:07 AM Damn these Voice performances... Celine has fallen 10 places already in the iTunes USA. I hope she goes higher. 2 Quote Les étoiles tombent une à une. Mes émois sont de saturne.
Mark-UK Posted May 22, 2018 at 07:17 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 07:17 AM I think the song is performing great in the USA! The voice performances will drop out after today. Would be good to see ashes return to iTunes top 10. I am hoping she climbs the AC chart too xx Quote

Javito Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:13 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:13 AM It’s kind of embarrassing that her fans have to ask (almost plead) Celine and her team every time she releases a new single, that she includes it and performs it in her shows. That should be taken for granted on a normal scenery, when someone has a new single released, she performs it? Sorry but I’m not entering that pleading chain that has proven to reach deaf ears in Celine’s team -they’ll do whatever they want in the end 4 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
justinecoria Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:23 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:23 AM I went to see Deadpool 2 this week-end (in France), and Celine's song was in the movie. After 20 minutes, you've got Ashes playing and Deadpool doing stupid moves during a fake opening credits. Quote

Javito Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:30 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 09:30 AM Yeah, that’s what they do when there’s an interaction and feedback between the artist/team and her fanbase. But with Celine’s case the communication in this sense is nonexistent. They never ask her fans what they want to listen, never ask what they like most, they never ask anything. 3 Quote "Hush, now... But with Celine's case the communication in this sense is nonexistent. They never ask her fans what they want to listen, never ask what they like most, they never ask anything. With all due respect, since when did fans become experts in anything? You're all like 'we don't hear her on the radio', but which radio would want her to play between the likes of Nicki Minaj or 20-year old bimbos? I'm 32, I don't listen to the radio much anymore, bc it's not the kind of music I like. That's not where I listen to music. She's getting a lot of views on Youtube, tons of articles, lots of references from Ryan Reynolds, and she's in again. That's already a looooot for someone her age/caliber who sings ballads.About the playlist of her LV shows, they've been doing it for 7 years. No one could have expected such a success. I guess this is a proof that they know what they are doing. Most of the people who attend Celine's shows are not fans, so it would be a mistake to put songs that fans want. They will definitely put Ashes soon, but it takes time to add a song in a show. 2 Quote
Javito Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:36 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:36 AM (edited) I don’t expect anything from Ashes... I never said nor I demanded her to include it in Vegas or be played on radios... because I know this song is no radio material If they didn’t send to radios other potential songs that were begging to be singles and be played on radios, why should anyone here expect Ashes to be played on radios? It just won’t happen. It won’t happen until she comes with the right song and the right promotion, and that remains to be seen since 2007 (and yet when she has the songs they send another cover to radios, so...) Xpresso Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:40 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:40 AM (edited) The problem is not the song itself, which is very radio friendly in my opinion. The problem is that a 50-year old doesn't get played much on radio nowadays... If Ashes was performed by Adele, it would be played by all the biggest radio stations. Ageist radio culture...At least some AC stations seem to be supporting Ashes!! Hope it keeps growing. Edited May 22, 2018 at 10:42 AM by Xpresso 6 Quote
Javito Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:47 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:47 AM (edited) 1) Wait for Madonna’s new album 2) Agree with the Adele comparison, but that’s only because Adele has a starting career with only 3 albums and she came as a beam of light among a world of teens and young singers that all sing the same styles/sexual songs and she proved a young girl not posing naked can also sing beautiful ballads. However, Celine has a 35 year career and 20+ albums sending 99% of times the same type of songs to radios = radios don’t play her anymore. Radios know she can deliver ballads. Now let’s show them she can also sing more stuff. But they didn’t jump on that train (only with TTWII and ANDHC). So radios ignore her, because she doesn’t offer anything new with her music. Wait for Adele to keep sending more Hellos and Someone Like Yous within 5 years and you’ll see that radios don’t pay attention to her anymore either. The matter here is the novelty, that’s what radios care about, for a short period of time. If you send too much of the same thing, you’ll tire them and they just won’t care anymore. If you have belted a hundred of ballads and you deliver an uptempo/dance song for a change, chances are that the public will receive that song with open arms because it’s a break from the same thing you do. Same happens with singers that have started singing all uptempo/dance songs and they release a ballad for a change as a single. What happens? Radios are still interested and they play it, because it something different to discover that singer. Celine can sing dance and great catchy uptempo songs, but the problem is that the public doesn’t know that image of her, and she doesn’t believe she can deliver those songs greatly too. She and her team always insist on the dramatic ballads. And covers. And hence radios won’t care anymore about them. That’s what Celine has failed when sending her singles to radios since 2007. All the potential singles that were radio material were totally ignored in Taking Chances. Same happened with LMBTL. Will they ever learn? Xpresso Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:52 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 10:52 AM (edited) I think the issue is more "too much of the same person" rather than "too much of the same thing (music)".They played Céline like crazy in the 90's so many thought it was much too much. The same will happen to Adele eventually even if she does something different. And I doubt Madonna will get much radio play either. She's 60... Edited May 22, 2018 at 10:53 AM by Xpresso 1 Quote

Even if Madonna is not played as she was 10 years ago, the radio attention she gets today (even in her late 40s) is something that Celine has never known at only 35 (when radios stopped caring about her music). justinecoria Posted May 22, 2018 at 11:46 AM Posted May 22, 2018 at 11:46 AM (edited) You can't compare Madonna and Celine. Madonna tries to be modern, will show herself naked in front of the camera, will kiss other girls, and for that matter will be "in". She will also have good video clips. We should compare Celine to Barbra, Aretha, Whitney. And Celine is still here, being talked about on big shows. She's a legend. What's happening right now with Deadpool 2 is already so much more than anyone would expect. As for Adele, it's a different story. She's young, she's fun, funny, relates to young people and she's not the goofy mom that Celine is. Besides, apart from Hello which is one of the most viewed video clip on Youtube, I don't remember her recent singles being played that much on the radio. Didn't prevent 'When We Were Young' from being successful. And I would like to know how many people here who complain about Celine not being played on the radio, even listen to the radio? It's a different target. I didn't need the radio to listen to Adele, and I don't need it to listen to Celine. Edited May 22, 2018 at 11:53 AM by justinecoria 2 Quote
manu23 Posted May 22, 2018 at 12:55 PM Posted May 22, 2018 at 12:55 PM Radios won't play Celine no matter what, same with Madonna, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera or even Britney Spears. Europe might be different but USA radio is really ageist and things are much worst now than 10 years ago. Even AC plays only young artists nowadays. But this has nothing to do with Celine singing ballads, is Hello more radio friendly than Ashes? I doubt it. But who cares about radio in 2018 anyway She is stronger than any of her peers on YouTube and her Spotify streams are in line with Mariah and higher that Madonna, so any efforts should be put on streaming platforms. 6 Quote
Moleque20 Posted May 22, 2018 at 01:05 PM Posted May 22, 2018 at 01:05 PM It was the last chance for Celine to have a worldwide top40 hit. Streaming, views and radio killed her.
